- Today was the first Saturday of the month, which means it was time for the Medina County siren test! I ventured down to Litchfield to hear a Sentry 40V2T; the only ones in the entire State of Ohio. FSK tones dropped right at 12 (those tones you hear came not from a scanner but from the actual control box itself even though I was about 100 ft away or so) and the siren roared to life! These are the loudest omni-directional sirens ever produced and they sure do not disappoint! This particular unit is one of three 40V2T's in Litchfield and this one is located on Spieth Rd at the Spieth Rd. Water Towers. These sirens are dual-toned (Sentry currently produces the only dual-toned sirens still made today) and are 10/15 port, equipped with a 40 horsepower, three phase motor. They have a 2/3 port ratio which causes them to sound like an ACA Penetrator-50, but those are 8/12 port and these are 10/15, and thus are higher pitched! This thing shook the ground and seemingly the pole as well. Sirens in Medina County are tested on the first Saturday of each month of the year at noon. Enjoy!

some 40V2Ts use 8/12 but they’re actually using 10/15 ports. 8/12 port sirens sound the same as 10/15 ports but 8/12 port sirens have 8 ports + 4 ports = 12 ports but added the 8 port on the bottom. 10/15 port sirens have 10 ports + 5 ports = 15 ports but added 10 ports on the bottom.
Did it just barf snow?
Can this siren be fitted with dampers?
the only dual tone mechanical sirens still made in the US. (Other than the 8/16 port sirens, but they don't really sound dual toned.
0:48 that's when the siren goes off
I thought only federal signal made snow blowers.
I thought ACA
The 15v2t fire siren in Belpre is a full-on snowblower in the winter because that's snow gets all up in the horns and in the intake so becomes a literal snowblower
0:48 thx deep note sounding?
Why does it have a fs control box?
LIthunderbolt1003 All the sirens in Medina County are primarily FS (Federal Signal) ones and in order for the FS activation protocol to work with any siren it has to have the radio box from FS. The FS box is the radio box and the Sentry box underneath is what houses the actual siren controls. Hope this helps.
Could you hear FSK tones coming through the controls? I could in my video! The dumb EOWS 612 was broken and made a popping noise and had a rotation of 0.0000000000000001 RPM! Now I know never to go back to Lakewood again.
Sirens of NE Ohio Yeah you can if you listen closely. I went to the Spieth Road one and SRP went to the Vandemark Road one so make sure to check his video out too of the other unit (it looks identical to this one).
Did you get your shot from on top of that hill?
Sirens of NE Ohio No I set up near the road back always a bit to save it from the wind a bit and so the audio wouldn’t suffer. Yeah the Lakewood 612’s are busted. I might go up to get photos at some point before they go as theyre supposedly to be replaced with likely 2001-130’s this year.
Sirens of NE Ohio ya gonna post the vid, I’d be interested in seeing the failure.
Hey, thats better then keeping the broken sirens.
Sentry siren and federal signal are two different brands of sirens
When was that put there?
OWS Crazy1 When the Siren was installed, I have not a clue...probably the early 2000’s; Sentry management came by in about 2006 or 2007 to check on this unit as well as the other 3 in this township. The video from that was filmed by some guy called sentry911 or something on RUclips. The Federal radio was installed recently so Medina County Sheriff’s Office can trigger all the sirens in the county as all the sirens in the city of Medina are Federal Signal And FSK based, so whenever they switched to that they installed Federal radios on all of them; that was in 2014 or 2015.
@@sirenfreak57 Medina County doesnt control Westfield's 16V1T sirens nor Spencers 15V2T...
This siren scared me once I was looking at a box when this went off they were testing it
Looks like the strobe isn't working.
What strobe?
Sam's Channel531 that red strobe on the pole mount frame inside the thing that looks like a rotator box.
oh yeah, I see it now.
probably because the siren’s loud noise broke the light. this siren replaced a 15V2T that had its motor dying. 15V2Ts are not that loud.
Do they still make these
Although they’re not red, Sentry Siren does still make this model of siren.
@@stampycatfan01lol Sentry allows a lot of customization, so these can be any color and can be ordered with custom port ratios.
@@SouthGeorgiaSirens Ah, that makes sense. I should’ve clarified that they’re not red from the factory. As for the custom port ratios, I can just imagine a 9/12 port 20V2T.
@@stampycatfan01lol The port ratios is limited to what they have in stock iirc.
@@SouthGeorgiaSirens can they also be fitted with coding dampers for pulse and hi-lo signals?
Never heard of the company Federal field services
they're a federal signal dealer for our state.
@@sirenfreak57 Ah ok
Awesome!!
Wheelove Fire Alarms Thanks. Yep, it was epic! I’ll definitely be back next month to catch either the Defender or the Sentry 15V2T in the county.
NEO Trains and Sirens SRP said he got it though. He placed a Recorder there and it apparently went off.
NEO Trains and Sirens Yep. The Defender is shot. For good too.
By the way, why is it barfing snow?
The THX sirens should be placed more
Still not as effective as an ati lol
Way more effective than an ATI…😂
i hope you are joking
There was a video on RUclips showing a video of a 40v2t sounding. The person who was recording it was 1 mile away, and yet, you can still hear it. ruclips.net/video/X6z2TUGz36o/видео.html
