There is a general average on raw footage, cutting room floor, versus edited film.... and what isn't used is something insanely high! Animal Documentaries may be even stricter since your stars are never scripted and known to eat directors they don't like 😂 (kidding)
Also, they're mostly captive animals on sets made within their enclosures. This documentary for sure. Notice that you never see wide angle shots of the surrounding terrain (with animals in them) to set the scene.
Just get an ad blocker. Use an app that blocks them. I don't miss them at all and they are awful sometimes. Every 2 minutes I swear. It makes it miserable especially If you're as sick of political ads as I am. 😂
An absolutely amazing documentary! 👏 Thank you so much. Especially for presenting us the common European wild cats, who are allmost identical to our tabby house cats, but - still wild, somewhere out there.. . 😻😊
This documentary is fantastic! It beautifully captures the diverse personalities of little cats with incredible detail and charm. The footage and storytelling are both engaging and heartwarming. Thanks for sharing such an enjoyable and informative film!
This was delightful and informative, thank you! When the cat kept going after the snake, I wasn't sure if she wasn't taking on a little too much. There are so many fascinating varieties of cats, and some seem look like our own home kittens, adorable! Thank goodness the rain arrived after the fire started. The ending bothered me considerably. Why, oh why do we still tear away these gorgeous animals' coats??! How vain does one have to be? Why do we still allow leg traps? As the saying goes: you dig a hole for another only to fall into it yourself. Wouldn't that be poetic justice for someone to step into their own trap? There is so much beautiful faux fur being made; nobody needs to kill animals for their fur now! Let these wonderful creatures live, the forests thrive and let us be grateful for all of it.
30:00 You may know: Bobcats are medium-sized cats, typically weighing between 6 to 18 kilograms (13 to 40 pounds). They have a distinctive appearance with tufted ears, a short "bobbed" tail, and a spotted coat that provides excellent camouflage in their natural habitat😽
Although most of us tend to praise the fabulous works achieved by those photographers & editors, I'd like to express my kudos on a discerning scriptwriter w/ research team & a convincing narrator w/ that dignified & confident tone of voice who have rarely if not at all been lauded for their influential role in the success of the production. 32:30 I'm wondering if a mother cat's shift to not sharing food with her young is caused by a change in hormone levels that exist after birthing which make her more docile and sharing? Like a return of her ego. Because with many cats, there is a time when the mother cat just says "I'm done raising you. Go."
9:41 GENET Cat-Like Carnivore - Though they look a little like wild cats, these animals are not members of the Felidae family. Instead, scientists classify them as Feliformia, or cat-like predators. Some other members of this suborder include hyenas, fossa, mongooses, and more.

That being said you need cellular access to use one of those, so probably not an option out in the wilds?
It always annoys me when I watch videos of biologists working in the field somewhere in the 2nd or 3rd world that THEY’RE ALL DRIVING LITTLE DIESEL PICKUP TRUCKS, LIKE TOYOTAS, NISSANS, VWs, etc. The USA has now and has had for Decades a Trade Embargo DISALLOWING SUCH VEHICLES INTO THE US.
