- In this video I talk about what woolly buggers I use and how I rig and use them. I am NOT a pro. But I do have some success fishing buggers for trout! Hopefully this will help some beginners out! And once again this is only the way I fish with them. There is many other styles out there!

Great fishing trip and landed a few beauties tii, tight lines and greetings from NZ,, Tony.
Thanks tony!
the wooly bugger is king of the flies. i’ve had success with them in tiny creeks, rivers, stocked ponds, deep lakes, etc. very versatile.
I agree!
Great tips! Helped me land a 20 in Palomino 🔥
That’s awesome man! I’m glad it helped out! Thanks for watching
Great video! And nice fish man. I too live in SW Virginia and I hope to get on some big trout like that, nice work!
Good video, never really seen someone jig a bugger that aggressively on a fly rod to catch like you did on the first fish. Whatever works though. Thanks for posting.
Iv had great luck jigging them! Just something different to try!
Looks like you use these mostly in deeper or slower selections. I'll try that
New fly fisher here. U mentioned that u use 4x leader and usually a #8 fly. I thought in order to determine leader size u divide fly size by 3 or 4 to get leader size. If u use an 8 wouldn't u use a 2x leader in order to turn that fly over. Ty for the video.
Floating line? How long are your leaders
Do you ever throw them on a 3wt or 5wt? Also do you fish them in winter? Ive never really fished them but want to try and learn to use them this year.
Yes to all of that! I have a 3wt I use from time to time. And I started out in a 5wt. And I do use them in winter! Go to my channel and check out the last couple videos I got of a few big ones off the woolly bugger! One was 9 pounds one was 7 pounds!
What’s a good rod/reel combo to get started into fly fishing?
Well can you tell me what your looking to fish for? And size stream? That makes a difference! This was a 8 foot 4wt echo rod and reel. They are not badly priced!
