  • Designed based on X-Alps paragliding wing. New Horizons For The Pilot - SKYWALK MINT Paraglider Review. In this paragliding review, Carlo shares with you his insights about Skywalk Mint EN C 2-liner wing after many test flights in a wide variety of conditions! Is the Mint really combining simpler flight characteristics and higher passive safety of EN-C category gliders with the performance of higher-rated wings?
    The Mint features a refined design, 2 line levels with B-steering, rigid foil, mini ribs, 3D-shaping, shark nose and more!
    Skywalk: "The beginning of a new era: Our EN-C 2-liner MINT! Designed based on our X-Alps wing for experienced XC pilots as well as competition newcomers. With the 2-liner MINT, the performance leap from B to C class is defined even more clearly, opening up new horizons for the pilot!"

    Super and very funny review. Carlo you made big sale for Skywalk, and I know its total real what you said. My ex Skywalk X-alps 2 was like Block ...a bit wobbly sometimes but stable. Because I worry about the fabric ageing of X-alps wing Mint should be excellent choice. Thanx for your enthusiasm for making these superb videos. Did Nancy try this wing? Ciao and keep on filming. Cloud sucks, paragliding doesnt! :D

    There is a 2-liner you didn't review yet.
    Could you do one, of the Airdesign - Loco?
    It looks really cool, as it's the only 16m2 2-liner, mainly scoring A's in safety certification :D.

    Do you have nitiniol rods in Impress4 fairing, please?
    Because I have a problem with perfect inflating of the tail and dont know what to do with it.

    Does it give a good picture of the thermals? Meaning does it lift one side to let you know where is the core?

    Hey Carlo, great video. What do you think about the brakes force and sensitivity. In other reviews it’s mentioned they are hard and also very direct. Is there a higher chance to spin the glider in turbulence?

    • @flybubblecarlo
      @flybubblecarlo Год назад +2

      Hey Darren. Glad you like the video. As stated in the video, I think the brakes are firm to a bit heavy and quite direct (more so than the Volt 4 and Photon, less so than the Artik R). The Photon's brake pressure is lighter but less direct and a bit vague, I find (still a great wing, in it's own ways - but not handling, IMO). I prefer the handling to be more direct and responsive, because it makes it easier to work tricky lift and I personally find this more pleasurable (which is the reason I fly, for pleasure). The brakes being firmer / heavier mean a lower chance to accidentally spin the glider in turbulence. The gliders I've know pilots to accidentally spin tended to have lighter brakes, making it physically easier to spin, but this isn't always the case. Good stall resistance and lower tendency to spin isn't just about brake pressure though. Some wings just give better and more 'warning' - clear brake pressure increase, longer time from warning to stall - than others. In this regard (and others), I found the Mint to be one of the more forgiving of the 5 EN C 2 liners I've tested so far. The most forgiving, I found, is the Bonanza 3. The least forgiving, I found, is the Volt 4, but still fine for a high C wing, IMO. The Artik R and Photon have similar pilot demands in this regard, but with very different feeling and behaviour, I found.

    Big ears are easy when you know how to do it :-) Wrap the break for half a turn to get the pressure out a little bit at the trailing edge (slightly kills the reflex airfoil at the wing tip). Then pull down the A split risers combined with a third or halfway push at the speed bar.

    • @flybubblecarlo
      @flybubblecarlo Год назад

      Interesting Hagen, thanks for sharing that tip! 👍 Usually I avoid having any brake on when inducing big ears (or B3s), to reduce the risk of deep stall. 👇 When I next get a chance, I'll try that. 🧪🪂 As it sounds like you've done both on the MINT, which do you prefer as a descent technique on the MINT - big ears or B3s? 🤔

    • @hagenmuehlich1607
      @hagenmuehlich1607 Год назад

      @@flybubblecarlo I prefer big ears. Don't be scared with the brakes. The glider manages it easy. Important is to push the speed bar a bit.

    Hello, could you please give some comments concerning the behavior with the different harnesses you tried : I have a seatboardless harness (Advance Lightness 3) / would like to know the feeling with this harness you tried too. For example, I tried the Photon with my L3 and it's not good ! There are some strange movments I didn't like att all. A friend of my tried the Photon with a Ozone BV1 harness (seatboardless) : not good / and after with a Sup'Air D4 : very good : another glider !!! It's the case with the Mint ? Thanks
