Great video here. Love winter hiking and camping. Solitude and hopefully not too many people make it worth while. I wonder if for one episode Jen took over the camera and narration what would happen. She is so quiet...lol
Thanks Ron! I've spent a bit of time talking to Jen about this. Currently I pretty much prompt her on most things. But maybe as she gets used to it, we can do an episode directed and filmed by her. :)

oohh might try that this winter. I've heard the commonwealth basin and maybe guye peak there is good beginner snowshoing I was thinking of trying soon. was fooling around last yr with snow hiking for the first time,that's how I learn, build experience and learn as I go. Dangerous? meh. Was thinking of trying up there toward guye for a real snow shoe but this one looks good as well. I've never used none of that electronic trail crap though so i did have to turn around shoing to about 1mile before the carbon river glacier last feb. after not being able to find trail. that one is real easy and fun tho!
Thanks for the great videos; do you carry bear spray ? I enjoy hiking and I can tell you that I saw many lion prints and sasquatch evidence close to my home this winter. I also heard 2 woodknocks from a sasquatch, near the ice caves, about 6 weeks ago.
We only carry it when going into bear country. Thankfully the areas we typically travel in the bears are far and few between and the cougars tend to keep to themselves. As for sasquatch...that remains to be seen. ;)

where's the pommel lift?? I still have my 40-year-old Vermont Tubbs snowshoes...HEAVY! Snow camping is beautiful...fewer people...all of the dropped wrappers and things you DON'T want to see are under a white blanket...water is all around you...melt it. And it is so quiet. Half a mile off I-80, and you don't hear it.

I've also never made a day hike into this area, (talupus only). 4-14 days in the woods.

I've always taken the original trail...February, or otherwise. No snow shows...ever!!
