Your videos are really so good. They are straight-forward, clearly narrated, no irritating background noise, no clutter, you stick to the topic with just the occasional nice to do stuff and useful tips based on experience.
Hey, I noticed that the video slowed down to like 15fps when you had the text in front of the parrot, and then went back to 30fps when it went away. Is there any way to keep the video going at the same speed with the text in front? It would look really bad if I have video game footage slowing down like that for a text box...
Good question. That's just the preview of the edits being applied. When the video is rendered, it should be at full frame rate. It depends a lot on how many effects are being applied at once and how fast the computer is, but the final exported video should not be affected.
when I hit the "Show Background" it just come up black even if i have the video selected and the selection tool over the video I need to put the back ground over. This would sure help out a ton if I could get it to work especially when I need it to move. Any Ideas???? Help

I love these tutorials and your teaching style so much I'm now working my way through your Inkscape tutorials. One thing that frustrates me about Kdenlive is the title clip creator. I would like to have much more control over the fonts and font sizes. The font is uniform for the whole clip. Can you make a video or direct me to one that will help me create title clips in Inkscape? I formerly used Openshot and their title clip editor was better, but now it's so buggy as to be unusable.
Hi Lisa. I feel the same about Kdenlive text and title clip tools. I also find myself using Inkscape for creating title clips, since it gives much more customisation and control. I'll see if I can go a video on it soon, but the process is creating an Inkscape canvas the same size as the video, ie 1920x1080, and then adding text and any additional objects or images, and then exporting it as a .PNG image, and bringing that image into Kdenlive as a media source.
You can place as many text elements as you wish in the editor, all different, and even overlapping. Many designers will use multiple tools for their video. Using a separate editor for assembling Intros and Outros is common. Also these days, many people will use some online AI tools which is good at doing just one thing. Still need to use a video editor for the final assembly. In Kdenlive, if you need to have different font sizes on the same line, you'll need to place 2 separate text elements. A common usage is in the credits at the end where there are 2 columns, one listing the film crew jobs in a smaller font and right justified, and a second column with a bigger font that is left justified listing the names of the people. You would need to adjust line spacing to get them to line up properly.
hi, how to add clip names to the video. I want to make a video that occurs various shots video. in order to prepare a revise for employers. I mean how to show clip names all the video automatically
how do you have that stuff on the left box that shows where you put your videos and all that stuff, when I started i pressed a button and it dissapeard, not sure how to put it back (also not getting the "add title Clip" button. Not sure if this is because the software is updated .
Ok, Ive figured out all the title stuff, but my issue is Ill lay them all out to when and where I want them, but when I open up my file later, all of my titles will be shifted around, like the tiltles will be 20 secinds off. What am I missing?
I've been looking for an easiest way to insert multiple titles in a music video (subtitling). I think people don't use Kdenlive for this task in their workflow.
Many video clips come with a silent audio track. Although it's silent, there still needs to be a place for it on the timeline. To add video, audio, audio + video tracks to the timeline, right click in the area to the left of the timeline and select Insert Track. By default it's set to 1 but using the drop down box, you can add 10 or more tracks if you wish. The number of video and audio tracks you have when you start a new project is configurable in the Kdenlive settings.

Go to the title clip screen with "show background and everything, there's a background tab to the right, when you click it there's a slider with the transparency value of the black/white screen, 0 being transparent and 255 being opaque. (copypaste)
I don't yet, but I could make one. It can be done a few ways, but creating the background and video borders in program like Gimp or Inkscape is what I would likely do, and then either make the spots for the videos transparent and put them behind the background, or just place them on top and do crop, transform, and resize to get them into place.
@@Jacob_Ausman Yes, they are both free, I also have tutorials for Inkscape. There is a quick way from within Kdenlive, just add a title clip, then from the top left, 'add rectangle', and change the color, then put your video over the rectangle but let the edges extend past the video, creating the look of a boarder. Hope that helps!
hi, I added subtitles and rendered, but when I play the video in vlc player, the subtitles are a little bit blurred, HD and 4k rendering are the same, any suggestions?
Click Outline in the editor, set the width to 10 or so, and pick some contrasting color. You can also add a solid background color - click on the Background tab.

Video editing is more about story telling than technicalities. You are doing a great work teaching the storytellers some technicality of the software which is free.
I personally would never put an intro title over a black screen. But if I was to put a title clip before the parrot, I'd still include something on V1, for example a highly out-of-focus view of the jungle. For credits, the current fashion is to show titles over a solid colored background or over a very neutral looking image. This all changes over time.
If there is no video track underneath, it will automatically display as back. You can also place an opaque black box in the editor. Verify your Z-order is correct else the box will cover up the text.
No, you have to format them and import them into the right directory. There are other videos to do this. You can also import images so if you have some very fancy title created in some other tool, you can import it into the title editor.
