I love my monoc nib. It's sort of Waverley-ish, and writes well at many angles. Mine is very wet. And polished titainium looks just like that.

It's the Monoc nib, not Monarch...

It’s worth investigating this nib a little further, it’s made from a single block of titanium, so unique as far as I’m aware. The finish is not as unusual for Titanium as you think, my Oris Ti diving watch is also polished. It’s also compatible with a Jowo fit so you could swap into a pen more to your preference 🤷‍♂️

I swapped mine into a Ranga Abhimanyu that’s clear acrylic. When I showed it to Ian Schon he loved it! I love this nib. Mine is a medium, which writes more like a broad, and reverse writes perfectly like m/f.. they have a fine Monoc now which writes very broad in reverse. I will get another at some point.. pun intended. Monoc refers to a machining term when something is made from a solid piece of metal.. in this case it’s a solid piece of titanium. It is created to have the feedback of a pencil. It can be an acquired taste. I so love mine.

I came here to quibble with your suspicions about the nib being titanium, but I see others have taken care of that. There's a relevant story about the engineering behind that nib and the info is readily available on the Schon Dsgn website. A little more research might have enhanced your explanation.

You know there are ways to explain something to someone without making them feel like crap about getting something inaccurate... You should try it some time instead of coming off as a knob.

it cracked me up how suspicious you were about whether the nib is titanium lol. it looks like my polished titanium pen. if you're used to other finishes on titanium, i can see why you'd expect it to look different.

I am writing on July 2024 - currently the Schon Dsgn website offers a Medium and Fine Monoc nib.

den hier vorgestellten Füller den gibts nicht (mehr) zu kaufen nicht wahr? Wie alt ist dieses Modell, wenn es aktuell nicht mehr produziert wird?

Not sure if this is still available, check the Schon website. I know he keeps on bringing out new models and new finishes.

I’m going to belabor the point about the nib. If you are going to review a pen, a little homework should be a priority. A very quick peek at the website informs you it is made of a solid piece of titanium. Yes, that’s titanium! And the name of this unusual nib is spelled Monoc, not Monarch or whatever you wrote, I couldn’t quite read it.

Yep, agree that he should do more research. So easy today with the inter webs. Don't even know what is the point to suspect it is not titanium.
