Thanks so much for this wonderful interview 🙏 A true artist who is fully confident of his/her artistry and fully convinced about their personal artistic journey doesn't require validation or recognition by an external institution like AIR. Rather than suggesting Anantha R Krishnan to play at AIR, what should ideally happen is for the AIR to first offer him a sincere apology, and then an honorary grade of the highest order, without him having to prove his prowess in front of them. True art that Anantha epitomizes is beyond grades and awards.
Respected sir, first of all my purpose of Laya talk initiative is to highlight the best in an artist and showcase. Having said that myself and Anantha’s father had played numerous concerts in NJ accompanied several senior artists. Anantha and Abhi are known to me since the time I was learning Mridangam from his grandfather Palghat Sri R Raghu sir in 90 s and had sat on stages along with him as disciple. I had taken care of them and played in Egmore house. The discussion thread of AIR came impromptu and I also reflected the same opinion if you had listened carefully. My number is 9500012707 and please call me rather than responding back and making this space an unhealthy place. Bottom line my intention is to bring in the best in each artist and never ever to make someone uncomfortable. Hope this clarifies. Pranams PRV Iyer Director, LayaAcademy
@vishweshswaminadhan4337 Totally agree. I was a bit surprised when he said he didn't get graded after that but I don't blame him. Such a great vidwan who doesn't need that grading necessarily. His prowess alone speaks. He's an inspiration to people like me.
