because Clarkson said that McLaren has Rolls Royce level of comfort in a fast supercar so its' suspensions absorbs those jumps better than the Aventador hence the difference between expressions. or at least that's how I think

This just proves how good the noble is, Lamborghini and mclaren both sent engineers to make sure the cars were in perfect condition for the test, and the noble just had the short man, and still won
And blew it’s clutch out the next day.
(Although in fairness it was doing 205mph on a banked circuit)

This is one of the few best fear moments on top gear, its far from scripted and you can see the three of them bouncing in their seats as result of how terrifying the car jumping is.

Not really tbh. Its the same V12 being used, so it is indeed the last one. Don't think lambo will develop another V12, they'll just tweak this one for as long as possible nd keep adding another 10-12hp.

Hes relax cause he already reached the top speed of the veyron, twice. Imagine what he went through. Hes used to fast speeds.

This was one of the most epic challenges they ever did.
One of very few times I've seen actual, genuine fear on Jeremy's face. Watching this made the hair on the back of my neck stand up, I don't think anybody could even fathom going over 200 miles an hour
This is one the best made episodes of Top Gear ever and one of my favorites.
I love how the music almost gives you the scary to death feeling they have while doing this.
I came here looking for the Volkswagen Nardo. If Top Gear haven't driven it, they should.

Zack E its harder to get high speed if car is slower, both three cars can go over 300 kph but mclaren is slowest to 300 kph... so James was going fast as much as he could almost

This is one of my favorite episodes because of the cars in it, especially the Mclaren. The other day I was so excited to see that they'd added some new episodes to Netflix, but my happiness was destroyed when I saw that it was the newest seasons that such. Plus they'd taken off the first season they had of the show which was the one with this episode.

I've met a lot of guys from the states that say they would never buy an exotic car because their muscle cars can be built faster for cheaper. I would like to see them try that in any American muscle car and come out alive when they're finished. You have to respect the sheer speed that these cars can achieve. And it's all because of the unbelievable engineering. That's why I love supercars. The time and engineering that goes into every single supercar is astonishing. And it makes them worth the price in my opinion. I've been a passenger in many exotic cars, the fastest was a 2017 Aventador S. But the one I went the fastest in was a 2016 R8 V10. The driver was being a bit of a moron, we were on this big 4 lane highway pretty early in the morning. He was test driving the car and brought me along with him. There was this massive straight with barely any traffic that went on for miles. So he decided to "see what the car could do". Well by the end of the straight we blew past a highway patroller at whatever the top of 6th gear is in an R8. About 10 seconds before we passed the cop I saw 301kph indicated so we were going even faster than that by the time we got to the cop. Insanely stupid, we could've died so easily. I feel slightly less stupid because I wasn't the one driving, but still. The cop didn't didn't even try, we just took the next exit then got back on the highway then took some weird routes to try and confuse him if he was looking for us, and it seemed to work. But yeah that was on a flat highway with new pavement in a more modern car than what they were in when they did this challenge. It would take some serious skill, car control, and balls to drive that track at that speed. Especially Hammond, considering he'd already had a life threatening accident doing the exact same thing. And his car was the least prepared, the least advanced, the most powerful, the rear end gives out insanely easy in those, and it's a manual. That actually makes a huge difference. He's having to take a hand off the wheel to change gears. I would definitely want paddles in that situation. But yeah props to the cars and drivers

11 years later and Lamborghini still kept the iconic V12 in their new flagship car, the Revuelto.
Top Gear is such an underrated show, the way Jeremy portrays and journals the videos, in such an eloquent manner, with the finest of words spoken, effecting the deepest of feelings and sparking passion.
That 2001 Space Odyssey reference is actually really good, music gave me more chills than the movie

At those speeds a minor deviation in the road surface can cause the car to "jump" left or right a few feet. If down-force is interrupted during a jump the car can become unstable and crash.

You might want to look into how the AMG CLK race cars did when it came to downforce and you'd get an extreme example of what can happen.

Can we just spare an applause for the McLaren 12C and how INCREDIBLY stable it was at those high speeds? The independent suspension tech is showing itself here. Despite doing similar speeds as the other two cars (within 5mph), the interior cam of the McLaren looks so much calmer. Its as if he's going slower than the other two.
As a kid I loved watching the Aventador on this track
As a teen I appreciated Hammond doing this on a raw, naked car without any tech to assist him (especially after his crash)
As an adult I appreciate how the McLaren makes that speed feel slower than in the Lambo and the Noble.
Now this is a proper episode showcasing the top speed of a car.
Thanks to mclaren's suspension, not much vibration created.
