I used to really despise Leffen. His ego pissed me off. What really set the nail for me was his 5-0 against Chillin and the way he presented himself in that set. Now, however, it's impossible for me to not respect him. He's a great player. Even watching his ego grow to unforseen heights is just fascinating to me.

VasDeferens I have a real hard time believing it is an act. I agree with K.Louis, they both have egos, but Mango's comes off as funny and sometimes satirical where as Leffen's is condescending. I enjoy watching them both as players, but also glad to see Mango the person on screen. I can't say the same for Leffen. Especially considering his actions in the past, I'm always impressed that he can still have that kind of attitude, considering what it led to. You would think that kind of community response would humble a guy, regardless of how skilled a player you are.

Munzu Leffen: Grew up with mang0 as the best player in the world, so he naturally has respect and reverence for of him, but mang0 is everything Leffen isn't. He is disilllusioned with mang0 now that he is good enough to see mang0's flaws and arbitrary limitations that he puts on himself, as well as his willful ignorance of those flaws and limitations.
Mang0: See's leffen as some young kid who has come in and ruined the status quo: mang0 = #1 and Armada = the big boss he always has to beat against all odds. Mang0 doesn't like that, so he is using the schoolyard bully tactic of "lol leffen you're dumb"/"leffen is such a weiner"/"everyone hates leffen". That being said, mang0 knows deep down that leffen is an amazing player and probably the best, even if he would never admit it.
Their relationship is weird because leffen respects mang0 as a legend and mango respects leffen as a player, but their personalities are mutually exclusive.

ZerefX That's the one thing I don't like about competitive smash. I respect all the top players for being really good. Arrogance is what I hate most, and how people seem to encourage it to no end. I won't deny they're good, but it's the arrogance that gets to me. People won't agree with me, but it's ok.

I can only stand Leffen when he's talking with Mango. Not that I'm a big Mango fan or anything, but like, I hate watching him solo or being interviewed with most anyone else, but I love watching these two together. I think it's something about Mango keeping him in check when he says completely over the top douchey statements such as, "there's 4 great players, and then there's nothing" (WTFox interview with Crimson Blur) when everyone else that interviews him just kind of cringes as I do, and then they just go back and forth and it's hilarious instead of being hard to watch.
***** more like its because they both have great chemistry together. they obviously have a good friendship going on despite their rivalry which is fueled by both having massive egos. they both also back their egos up extremely well. at the end of the day even if it isnt said to one another they both have a ton of respect for each other. leffen doesnt really click with anybody in the scene i think besides Mang0
Angel7black I understand and it's obvious they can "back up" their huge egos, but I guess I side with most of the community in that you can be great and humble at the same time. Leffen of all people should be aware of that at the moment after coming out of nowhere essentially (as far as big US tournament wins are concerned) and winning all these recently, that it can and will happen again (probably sooner than before as the scene grows). I don't really buy into the "making it more hype/interesting" idea either, especially if it puts that idea above being a decent human being and opening up the scene to newcomers.
***** You don't get to define what a decent human being is. If this is who he really is than let him be. I'd rather have everyone act the way they want and always say the first thing that comes to their mind rather than put up some facade and act all nice and humble to please people like you. Leffen is good, and if you're good you get the right to act however you want and say what you feel, unless you're being extremely offensive.
Also, some people find motivation in bragging about their skills. Its like standing on the edge of the sword cause now you're forced to win and do better than anyone, cause if they do lose, they cannot use any excuse and they will look stupid if they do.
Bottom line is, he doesn't need to please you or open the scene for new players or whatever, he ain't obligated to do that.

Furthermore, you also demonstrate you don't understand at all what EvilApple567 was refering to as "being a great and humble person" or "decent human being". It's *not* someone who ACTS or puts a façade , but rather IS nice and humble. They are few, but some people ARE better than what you envision them to be. Your prejudice can be amazing... Amazingly sad, because it shows even if great people may appear before you, you'll look down upon them as if they were not being truthful, and that they are fake and artificial.

ThatDudePraXis M2K still has hand problems I believe and even if he doesn't have hand problems he didn't play melee for a while. So you can't say nothing yet.
Mew2king at his prime was playing a completely different meta. There is so much difference, especially in the fox meta (thanks armada and Leffen), that it's hard to compare the two
ElSujetoEse That's a massive, salty, M2K fanboy, delusional John. Firstly, comparing M2K's 2013 dominance to Leffen's 2015 dominance is difficult because of the changing meta. Second of all, Leffen has absolutely obliterated M2K in their last few sets, trying to pretend like that doesn't count is indefensible. Practicing, keeping up with meta, and being able to show up to tournaments and execute are all top level skills, and Leffen outclasses M2K in every one of those categories.
ThatDudePraXis m2k was dropping stuff we never saw him miss before. He just looks... rusty. I think M2K can compete in the current meta, but he needs to practice a lot. He's fine with practicing a lot, that's how he got good to begin with, but it won't happen until he figures out how to go to the doctor. If everything goes well with that, we might see a new m2k in 2016, but I don't think he'll dominate Leffen like he used to. Leffen's just a lot better now, and he's practiced hard to get rid of his Marth problems.
Maybe m2k should play him with Samus.
BaufenBeast Another thing people don't talk about is the fact that M2K is 26 and Leffen is 19. You may not think that makes a difference, but it absolutely does, a 19 year old is going to have slightly better reflexes and healthier hands. In a game where 1 frame can decide a match, reflexes matter a lot. I know everyone is holding out for an M2K comeback, I want it too, but I think he's just reaching the end of his era.
By far the most legendary winner's interview in smash
Guys, I've figured it out. If Melee is DBZ, Mango is Goku, and Leffen is Vegeta. Mango's been around for way longer and has more accomplishments under his belt. He fights for the people, and is always up for a challenge. Leffen on the other hand was a villain when he showed up. But after a while, he's become more of an antihero. He can go toe to toe with Mango, and they often go back in forth in terms of superiority, though Mango tends to come out on top. Now my only question is who are the other top players?
