I often think that it is sad that a lot of people won't watch a horror show or movie, because I truly believe that this is one of the finest TV shows ever made.
I had avoided most of the horror genre because the few movies/shows I'd seen seemed to be trying to outdo each other with how scary/bloody/gory they could be and that's just not something I'm interested in, but Hill House definitely changed my entire view of the genre.

It's a family drama about grief, wrapped in a horror story as a storytelling framework. Like almost everything Flanagan has touched, it's meticulously planned and executed. They took a story that was over a century old, that has been done many times before, and made it new.
Mike Flanagan knows how to use horror to confront us with the real terrors in life. What's the monster under the bed compared to the loss of loved ones? How is a ghost scarier than watching a child descend into self destruction and addiction? I don't tear up at much anymore, but almost all of his shows have dragged a few tears from me.
You just catch SO MUCH on your viewings. Like stuff I never catch until a second or third watch, you pick up on right away. You’re such a great reactor!
Hugh’s sacrifice was heart wrenching. throughout the series, the kids treated him like crap, blamed him for the death of their mom. yet in the end he gave his life so his kids could have peace
I think its a beautiful and tragic thing about Olivia's haunting. I think she is being herself when she expresses a more possesive and harmful aspect of motherhood. Her last kids are growing out of their toddler phase and she is overtaken with fear. A fear the house feeds on but I think its a true fear she clearly had and unfortunatley succumbed to.
I think having Hugh in the house will eventually help balance Liv out. He's her tether after all. I think the evil ghosts like Poppy will continue to try to feed on anyone who walks into that house, but now there's Nellie and Hugh and the Dudleys... I think they will be a more positive force to counter the evil in the house. I think the significance of the final shot of the house with the lights going out signals that it will never feed on anyone else.
I agree, Poppy is the real evil "spirit" of the house. The others we see are just "watching" and are not evil. (even the man with the hat). I think Poppy got what she wanted in the end with new spirits in the house and spreading horror and the house won over Liv and Nellie. But the Crains will be able to move forward together thanks to Hugh's sacrifice. But I think those lights can come back on at any time.
Thank you for finishing this series! Hill House is maybe my favorite show ever!! I hope you will eventually watch the other Mike Flanagan Netflix series! (Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, and The Fall of the House of Usher) I really, truly believe that Mike Flanagan is one of the all-time great storytellers in the horror genre.
What makes this show (and its follow up shows) so amazing, is that even if horror doesn't scare you, there's this deep emotional weight to it. Just some of the greatest television of all time.
When you realize that the buttons on the eyes, the falling casket, several jump scares is all Nellie trying to save her family from breaking up as the arguments reach fever pitch.
Watching episode 10 was the first time in my life I cried to the point of being more snot and tears than man. And, oh boy, did the terrorized Ellie in episode 5 wake the protective side of me. I sooooo wanted to get on a plane and go to that house and do all kinds of stuff to it. The storytelling was amazing.
That was my thought, too. The fact that she just assumed he was telling the truth and was like "But why was he covered in paint?" after that episode. So much innocence lol, but it's what makes reactions to stuff like this so good.
I was wondering if you’d notice how long the takes were in episode 6 “Two Storms.” One of them was like a twenty minute single shot. There’s a making-of video telling about how much work went into pulling it off.
@@KingApeiron Either is acceptable but Midnight Mass is just on another level. I forgot how great this series actually was. Still though, Midnight Mass is the best.
@@seansmith4880 The final 20 minutes or so of Bly Manor might be the best thing in any Flanagan show. I will say that HHH and Midnight mass are better than Bly as a whole, but Bly is still fantastic.

Fans of Popcorn in Bed have probably ruined so many potential reactions on this channel by thinking they need to shield her from terrifying movies lol. Hopefully that doesn't happen as much anymore after she sees how great this show is.
F that sh1t about protecting Cassie from Horror, I loved watching her suffer during the IT chapter two reaction, that was so entertaining, cramps, screams, tears, more of that please!
I agree!! Also, “Wait till the next episode” and other similar comments are completely ridiculous and obnoxious. I believe it’s still a spoiler. The viewer spends the entire time wondering if the moment they’re in is what was being talked about or rather than the viewer experiencing natural suspense, they are expecting something already. Just don’t say anything and keep even the simplest/smallest of hints to yourself. It’s like some people think it’s fun to know something more then others and can’t help but announce it. I’ve commented to people in the past just to not say anything about upcoming movies/shows other than a rating of enjoyment or recommendation.
I didn't realize, the first 8 times I watched it, but at the end, when Luke is blowing out his candle, there are 7 family members again, (Mike, Leigh, Luke, Shirley, Kevin, Theo, & Trish)... I love that so much 😍
Man, this show has the most number of amazing monologues per square foot of anything! Maybe Lord of the Rings but even those aren’t as long as these. But I could listen to every single line of Theodin King on repeat until the end of time.
I am so happy you finished the season! This is one of my favorite pieces of television. The way it talks about grief and trauma and bittersweet nature of times long gone. It just hits me in the feels every single time.
05:35: "What's a dumbwaiter?" Commonly used in old, big houses, and sometimes hotels and the like. Basically a small elevator to transport items, like food, quickly to different floors. So someone didn't have to carry, say, a full meal from the kitchen though four halls and three flights of stairs to deliver it. 09:30: "Couldn't they just send a camera down and look?" Not in the 80s! Okay, BARELY. You might have a camcorder small enough to turn on then lower down a rope, then pull it back up, get the tape out, get it to a VCR hooked up to a TV to watch it back. But that would in no way be a piece of equipment the kids would be trusted with, even if the family had one. 16:18: "Every episode just gives me ten more questions!" Accurate. 22:08: There's a hypothesis among paranormal investigators that children are more sensitive to hauntings, paranormal activity, and the like. I believe the idea is that their minds are more open, they haven't been taught to ignore things that seem too weird. Their perception has fewer filters. Of course, it could just be that children in general have more active imaginations than adults, so report more strange stuff. 28:15: I *love* this scene. Yeah, it's uncomfortable as all hell, but that's the point. I feel it really paints the picture of Steve: he does love and care about his siblings, but he's just so used up from trying to look after them and all the traumas that came from their time in Hill House, his tank is flat-out empty and he has nothing left. He is completely out of shits to give. That's not heroic, but it is understandable. 29:27: Good catch. Them being "connected" as twins is a big deal, and what's Nell doing right now? Being dead, in refrigerated storage, with rigor mortis setting in. 1:14:19: "They gotta get out of this house.' They did. Trouble is, the house didn't get out of them. 1:24:21: "I wish they could all see their mom." Be careful what you wish for. . . 1:39:00: It's the use of negative space. The subject of a scene, the actors in it or the objects being focused on, are the positive space. The negative space is everything else, the "background." There's a lot of really interesting negative space in the cinematography, almost but not quite making you feel like you should be focusing on something other than the obvious subjects. It puts you ill at ease, makes it feel like there's something else in the frame even if there isn't. If you're having trouble grasping it, think about all those shots of someone with an open door of some kind, and you just KNOW as soon as they close that door, there's going to be something behind it. Because the door, and the thing behind it, are positive space, so you're aware of them even if you're focusing on the obvious subject, your brain is cued to notice this thing as important. This show makes the negative space seem like positive space sometimes, like there should be something there, but there isn't. Or is there? 1:53:20: This whole monologue just KILLS. Brilliant writing, brilliant performance, just utterly perfect! 1:55:34: I think you meant "Run, Luke, run." 1:29:07: "We gotta make him throw up!" Not going to help at all with an injected poison. It's already in his blood, evacuating the contents of his stomach won't help. 2:42:01: "I want this house gone!" Agreed. Task Force: Valkyrie needs to call the Navy to launch a cruise missile at it. 2:44:43: This part had me full-on ugly crying. *THERE ARE SEVEN OF THEM.* Not counting Steve and Leigh's unborn child, there are once again seven Crains.
That feeling that you describe where you are worried and you don't know why - I had that while watching Breaking Bad. It was crazy, because I knew it was fiction, obviously, but subconsciously because I was taken on that journey by that show it was giving me real life anxiety, especially in my dreams because you'll believe anything while you're in a dream and a little bit of it "spills out" (as this show pointed out) when you wake up, so I would wake up anxious like I have the same high stakes as in that show.
IVE BEEN BLESSED! I've been checking your channel repeatedly for the past week or so, hoping to see you post more about this show. I'm so excited to sit down and watch all these reactions in a rowwwww.
That line, "Fear and guilt are sisters Theodora," is a great one. Theo is afraid of touching people, Shirley feels guilt for cheating on her husband, and Theo and Shirley are, in fact, sisters, aka fear and guilt.
I love the recurring themes in this show. We see the same thing happen over and over again, but it's always new. Like how the therapist told Nell about how the house is just an empty husk, but didn't have the context to see how she would interpret it as "go to the house". Or how Mrs Dudley told Lily to trust her instincts when it came to her children, but didn't have the context to see how she would interpret it as "wake them up from the nightmare".
Luke's pain and aches because Nellie is in rigor is beyond heartbreaking. Flanagan made a masterpiece with this series. Drama and horror intertwined to tell a story of generational trauma. There's never going to be anything else like it
Thank you for sticking with it and for uploading it here. Hope this means that sometime in the future we can see more Mike Flanagan shows on your channel!
You can now see why Mike Flanagan is so amazingly good at making shows. Hill House is my favorite, but the rest are masterpieces too, same incredible acting, same incredible character development, writing, directing, cinematography, music, dialogue (and especially the monologues) - yes, he makes horror movies and shows, but he elevates them from what used to be known as sort of a tacky genre to a high class incredible dramas with so many layers.
I agree on Flanagan being an amazing director and showrunner - definitely one of the best working today, and I believe in a few years he will be named in the same breath as other horror greats like Carpenter, Craven or Romero. But I take issue with the statement that he elevated the horror genre. Not because he doesn't produce seminal works, but because there was nothing to elevate since intelligent and thought-provoking horror media has existed from the beginning. People just didn't take it seriously because the drama often gets told through ghosts and monsters and because there are a lot of easy to digest entertainment movies, but other genres have those too. Silly stoner comedies or vapid Lifetime dramas are not any more sophisticated than a bloody slasher, they just never stood as the most well known examples of their genre for some reason.
@@DerMoerpler Don't get me wrong, I love horror movies - in fact one of my favorites is a known as a pretty bad one - Silent Hill. The acting there, especially from kids, leaves something to be desired, but I love it for the atmosphere it creates and the concept itself. The monsters themselves are not very scary all things considered (apart from Pyramid Head, which is THE scariest monster to me, and the nurses are pretty creepy too), but the fear is being trapped in that world. But the reason I used the word "elevate" is because I've seen plenty of movies and shows that were great all around (well filmed, well edited, well acted, well written, with a very interesting, engaging plot etc.), but up until Flanagan, I've never seen horror movies or shows that had ALL of those in there. They're usually great at what they're designed to do, which is scare you, but they typically don't leave a lasting impression like Flanagan's do in a sense that I got VERY invested in the characters and cared deeply about what would happen to them. In every horror movie I've seen, I didn't care much about the characters, I was watching it just to see what would happen regardless of the ending, and in some cases would even be upset if it ended happily not because I wanted the main characters to suffer but because I wanted to be scared and giving characters a way to defeat the evil and emerge victorious makes the movie much less scary. That wasn't the case with Flanagan's shows, even if there was a happy or semi-happy ending, I was glad because aside from enjoying the horror elements, I would also be highly invested in the characters, to the point that even if you took the horror out of it I'd still love the show. I can't say that about any other horror movie/show.
@@PeterDB90 Alright, now I understand how you meant it. It's just that I strongly dislike the term "elevated horror" that has become popular in recent years, because it implies that horror was a "lesser" genre before, and I thought you were referencing that. I'd like to recommend the movie Lake Mungo to you, since it has been a big inspiration for Haunting of Hill House - Flanagan himself said so and it's clear when you've seen both. He even wrote an essay about it in Variety last month. That one affected me like you described, I really felt for the characters and the tragedy in their life, it felt real (the fact that it's presented like a TV documentary and doesn't have any recognizable actors helps). And although it's not that intense in the horror department overall, it has one of the creepiest shots I've ever seen that could be seen as a sort of creative origin point for one aspect of Hill House (that I won't spoil here). Some people think it's too slow, but I have a feeling Flanagan fans tend to like it. I think it's criminally underrated and it's one of my favorite horror movies from the last 20 years. Kept me thinking for a week after I first saw it.
What's kind of sad to me in the show, is that seemingly other than Poppy, and maybe the one in the basement, none of the ghosts seemed to actually want to do any harm. We find out all of the banging was Poppy's son who couldn't walk or speak, and he would bang for help. The old woman in the bed (I think that's Hazel) actually seemed to want to help Olivia. The bowler hat man scared Luke, but he just wanted his hat back. He looked intimidating but none of them really interacted directly with the kids and seemed to all be victims as well.
Episode 10 destroyed me too! I swear it's a parent thing. As a father I was so proud of Hugh's ending, and I understand his actions through the entire timeline. Great reaction Cassie
I’m pretty sure I’ve watched every single YT reaction to this masterpiece of a show, and yours was one of the very best. You figured out a lot of the story at the right times, and your genuine frightened and tearful reactions were very cathartic. Glad you got to experience it. Cheers!
Mike Flanagan, the writer/creator of this sho is so gd good. His approach to horror is so rooted in human experience as opposed to just being scary. we haven’t seen a filmmaker take that approach in so long, maybe ever
1:38:58 that is a very good observation. They did film it in a way that makes you anxious. They had the longest continuous panning shots ever. People praise the funeral scene because it's an incredibly long one that builds so much suspense even though nothing really is happening, but those last few episodes have been full of them!
That one definitely hit you in your mama feelers. I absolutely loved the character development in this series. Hugh Crain and the Hill House mansion has been done in several movies. The Haunting (1999) with Liam Neeson and the House on Haunted Hill (1959) with Vicent Price were a couple of those movies. This series was awesome in so many ways. The Haunting of Bly Manor was kind of a sequel/continuation series of sorts, though not in a strict sense. You should put that on your radar.
Literally made my jaw drop. I watch a lot of movies and I love horror so I'm usually able to see a lot of things coming or at least have a sense about what could be going on, but not here. That reveal caught me completely off guard and while I already thought the series was great, it was the moment that made me think "I might be watching a masterpiece."
idk if anyone's mentioned it either on patreon or here, but olivia's velvet robe changes based on who's really present. olivia's real robe was blue and she herself is usually shown wearing shades or blue, purple, or green but ghost olivia's robe is red, twisted by the house
@1:53:00 - definitely one for the Poppies, probably one of the best all-time. Verrrrry impressed that you put it together about the 'secret rooms'. A couple of years ago you wouldn't have guessed that in a dozen lifetimes.
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but the actor who plays the young dad is the same actor who plays Elliott in ET. He's in most of Mike Flanagan's mini series, and they're all great. Highly recommend all of them!
Just found your channel from your Tombstone reaction, which was great. I adore Hill House, I binged it on Oct 30 and 31st alone in my dark ass apartment the year it came out. THE car scene almost knocked me off my couch so I'm glad to see your reaction! Great job calling out that shady ass red room for what it is, I did not pick up on it during my initial watch, but you can see the same thin window is present in the reading room, the treehouse, the dance room, etc... It really makes you feel dumb for missing it!

47:45 The black woman sitting behind the guy who asked Steve a question is Harryiana Hook. She makes thoughtful video essays on various topics like media and pop culture on RUclips
She's not a porcelain doll. A lot of people who watch horror for fun get scared by it. That's... sort of the point of horror. Sure, she's pushing outside of her comfort zone but come on, we're not going to hand out medals of bravery over watching a scary show are we.
I've watched several reactions to this show (cuz it's such a great one) and you are the first that noticed how Luke was cold and stiff that whole day after Nell died ... because of the twin thing! Nice catch!
Replying to my own comment to add a huge WELL DONE at 47:40 about the rooms!!! Again, first time I've seen anyone catch on to that before the last ep! I love how perceptive you are and how well you figure plots out, even when confusing.
I watch every reaction channel react to this show and nobody else so far has caught the Twin Thing in episode 4. I started crying the minute Luke said he was so cold and stiff because they’d hinted so much at the Twin Thing I thought it was obvious that he was feeling her death, but apparently not to everyone.
Thanks for watching this magnificent show. I know it was challenging, but in the end I hope you feel it was so moving and well worth it. I also hope you consider reacting to season 2. It was outstanding as well, and many of the same players come back.
This was the show that made me love Mike Flanagan's work. It's that perfect blend of horror and sadness, where everything is meaningful. Plus, there's that idea that every ghost story is also a story about loss Edit: Also, just the idea that the house isn't a curse but a gift for those who want it, always felt lovely to me
The Mike Flanagan works: The Haunting of Hill House The Haunting of Bly Manor Midnight Mass The Fall of the House of Usher They are all equally amazing, just in different ways. WATCH THEM ALL!! 😅 He also produced and wrote for the Midnight Club. It has mixed reviews, but is generally thought of as good. Easily one of his greatest works is the movie Dr. Sleep. It is a sequel to the Kubrik film, the Shining, so be sure to watch that first.
Mike Flanagan is one of the few directors working today that I'll watch anything of, no questions asked. I don't need a premise or a trailer or anything. Just tell me he's involved behind the camera and I'm on board. I can't wait fot The Life of Chuck to be widely released - if first impressions are correct, it could be his chance for some major award recognition. Not that he needs it, but it's still nice to see the best creative voices get recognized by their peers. By the way, Cassie already reacted to The Shining and it's one of her better ones :)
Your comment that "something feels wrong" in respect to the filming, my impression is that there's more "in the room with them" in scenes than we get to see, but the characters can feel it.
Wow. After you posted the first two episode, I was eagerly looking forward to the rest of the series. I thought you would like it, but also might back off a bit because of the kids. When I didn't see any more I thought that maybe you had second thoughts, but no, this was a great Halloween Treat. Loved your reaction. And the decision to post the rest of the eps in one go. This was an amazing cast of young actors that really tugged the heartstrings. You held up pretty well, all things considered. Except for Nell screaming at Shirley and Theo. Great reaction Cassie.
Thank you for posting this! I was SO worried you weren’t going to post the rest of your reaction on RUclips. I knew you would love this series. And you reaction did not disappoint! I enjoyed this thoroughly. Ur da best!
The thing I always come back to is that on any other show, Nell's monologue in the last episode would have sounded totally trite and smarmy...but Hill House spends so much time building the characters and their relationships up first, that it totally earns the sincerity and love needed to make that speech work.
Mike Flanagan work is always Day 1 viewing for me now. He’s got that magic in storytelling that is pretty rare. Check out his filmography for other great shows and some *very* underrated movies
I'd love for her to watch Doctor Sleep, but given that she was scared by The Shining, I don't know if she would. Plus there's one scene in Doctor Sleep (you know which one) that might break her.
The start : And those who walk there walk alone. The end : And those who walk there walk together. Thanks for the wonderful reaction to this series. Haunting of Bly Manor and Midnight Mass are just as good and also highly worthy of a watch someday. Happy Halloween 🎃
I know this is not the place for request but the creator made another show called Midnight Mass that left an even more profound impact on me. It’s horror related and might need to wait till next year but it’s so good. Can’t recommend enough.

It's not ruined if PiB has YET to see content.
I’ve commented to people in the past just to not say anything about upcoming movies/shows other than a rating of enjoyment or recommendation.
the patrons are extremely cringe
No they haven’t, we make her watch sad and scary movies all the time. We just try to recommend movies she’ll actually get something out of.
Oliver Jackson-Cohen who played Luke was the abusive husband in the invisible man
I didn't realize, the first 8 times I watched it, but at the end, when Luke is blowing out his candle, there are 7 family members again, (Mike, Leigh, Luke, Shirley, Kevin, Theo, & Trish)... I love that so much 😍
eight if you count baby Nellie that Leigh is carrying...lol
Man, this show has the most number of amazing monologues per square foot of anything! Maybe Lord of the Rings but even those aren’t as long as these. But I could listen to every single line of Theodin King on repeat until the end of time.
Alas that these evil days should be mine…
I am so happy you finished the season! This is one of my favorite pieces of television. The way it talks about grief and trauma and bittersweet nature of times long gone. It just hits me in the feels every single time.
05:35: "What's a dumbwaiter?"
Commonly used in old, big houses, and sometimes hotels and the like. Basically a small elevator to transport items, like food, quickly to different floors. So someone didn't have to carry, say, a full meal from the kitchen though four halls and three flights of stairs to deliver it.
09:30: "Couldn't they just send a camera down and look?"
Not in the 80s! Okay, BARELY. You might have a camcorder small enough to turn on then lower down a rope, then pull it back up, get the tape out, get it to a VCR hooked up to a TV to watch it back. But that would in no way be a piece of equipment the kids would be trusted with, even if the family had one.
16:18: "Every episode just gives me ten more questions!"
Accurate.
1:14:19: "They gotta get out of this house.'
They did. Trouble is, the house didn't get out of them.
1:24:21: "I wish they could all see their mom."
Be careful what you wish for. .
1:55:34: I think you meant "Run, Luke, run."
1:29:07: "We gotta make him throw up!"
Not going to help at all with an injected poison. It's already in his blood, evacuating the contents of his stomach won't help.
2:42:01: "I want this house gone!"
Agreed. Task Force: Valkyrie needs to call the Navy to launch a cruise missile at it.
2:44:43: This part had me full-on ugly crying. *THERE ARE SEVEN OF THEM.* Not counting Steve and Leigh's unborn child, there are once again seven Crains.
Luke and Nell's episodes are especially heartbreaking. Just trauma after trauma.
This show lives with you. Years later something just comes to mind randomly. It is a masterpiece.
The more often I watch the more emotional I become. I really enjoyed your reaction.
The Bent Neck Lady reveal is easily one of the best things I've ever watched.
I've never seen a single reactor come away from this show feeling anything less than it's one of the best single seasons of television ever made.
SO Happy you enjoyed this too, even when it was so scary ❤ so so much credit to you for finishing it ❤❤
❤❤❤❤❤
What's kind of sad to me in the show, is that seemingly other than Poppy, and maybe the one in the basement, none of the ghosts seemed to actually want to do any harm. We find out all of the banging was Poppy's son who couldn't walk or speak, and he would bang for help. The old woman in the bed (I think that's Hazel) actually seemed to want to help Olivia. The bowler hat man scared Luke, but he just wanted his hat back. He looked intimidating but none of them really interacted directly with the kids and seemed to all be victims as well.
The scene where, Joey, Luke's gf asks, Where do you get your ideas from?"
Cassie;
" Ew Awkward Turtle🐢"😂
Nelly dancing on her own in that house gives me the shivers.
Episode 10 destroyed me too! I swear it's a parent thing. As a father I was so proud of Hugh's ending, and I understand his actions through the entire timeline. Great reaction Cassie
I love Theo's character. She's the most prickly and complicated of the family. So strong, and at the same time so fragile.
“Awkward turtle” is gonna be a new catchphrase 😂
It's an old one. I remember saying that in high school too.
@ maybe before my time, I feel like I can kind of remember some joke about a turtle. Lol
I’m pretty sure I’ve watched every single YT reaction to this masterpiece of a show, and yours was one of the very best. You figured out a lot of the story at the right times, and your genuine frightened and tearful reactions were very cathartic. Glad you got to experience it. Cheers!
Same 😂
This is a true treat! Thank you for reacting to this show, it's one of my all time favorite stories and how its beautifully told.
When she jumped at a fly, I just knew the sister’s argument would give her a heart attack! Yikes
The scene with Luke and his 2 year cake, it shows the family back as 7.
I loved this marathon!! The build up to the epic moment was what we all needed on Halloween!!
I don’t get scared easily but the jump scare in the car got me real good, I was so focused on their conversation that I didn’t see it coming.
This is not only possibly the greatest horror series ever made, it’s also one of the greatest TV series in general ❤
Perfect description of the show at 1:19:30
Mike Flanagan, the writer/creator of this sho is so gd good.
Episode 5 Reveal of who the Bent Neck Lady is an absolute all time great TV moment. It's done so frickin well
Literally made my jaw drop.
Mike Flanagan isn't just a master of horror, he's a master of emotion (and monologues)
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but the actor who plays the young dad is the same actor who plays Elliott in ET. He's in most of Mike Flanagan's mini series, and they're all great. Highly recommend all of them!
Mike Flanagan is a master in character writing.
Did the Red Room just want people to stay there? So it could have company or something?
this really made my Halloween. was having a bad day and this popped up. cheers
thank you for this honest reaction. i watched this show and reactions to it so often and it makes me cry everytime, but your reaction gave some extra tears
"Punch her in the face!" Lol
47:45 The black woman sitting behind the guy who asked Steve a question is Harryiana Hook. She makes thoughtful video essays on various topics like media and pop culture on RUclips
So… I’m just gonna say it.
The fact that you were willing to watch this despite how much it scares you shows just how freaking BRAVE you are!
She's not a porcelain doll. A lot of people who watch horror for fun get scared by it. That's... sort of the point of horror. Sure, she's pushing outside of her comfort zone but come on, we're not going to hand out medals of bravery over watching a scary show are we.
@@clarkmichaels822 Depending on the person and the show, I might.
The casting of the kids to adults is incredible in this show particularly Shirley and Theo… amazingly well done..
The top 3 best seasons of all time are season 3 of Game of Thrones, season 1 of True Detective and Haunting of Hill House.
Thanks for watching this magnificent show. I know it was challenging, but in the end I hope you feel it was so moving and well worth it.
I also hope you consider reacting to season 2. It was outstanding as well, and many of the same players come back.
If you know, you know, and it's here: 1:52:58
10/10, did not disappoint one bit.
Such a great show with a fantastic reaction. Love this channel.
This was my favorite reaction to this show and I've seen about all of them. Thank you Cassie.
Mines too I liked normies reaction too
I know I'm not the only one waiting for that moment. 1:53:00. In all seriousness that ending gets me every time.
This was the show that made me love Mike Flanagan's work. It's that perfect blend of horror and sadness, where everything is meaningful. Plus, there's that idea that every ghost story is also a story about loss
Edit: Also, just the idea that the house isn't a curse but a gift for those who want it, always felt lovely to me
The Bent-Neck Fly is haunting Cassie during this reaction!
The Mike Flanagan works:
The Haunting of Hill House
The Haunting of Bly Manor
Midnight Mass
The Fall of the House of Usher
They are all equally amazing, just in different ways. WATCH THEM ALL!! 😅
He also produced and wrote for the Midnight Club.
@DerMoerpler Thanks for letting me know about her reacting to the Shining. I'm new to her channel. I'll search for it asap.
Holy shit we get all of these episodes at once?!!? We're not worthy!
1:52:58 One of the best jump scare reactions in the history of this channel. 👻
5:35 I forgot there are ghosts hidden in the bg of some of the shots and that freaked me out SO MUCH
Thank you for posting this! I was SO worried you weren’t going to post the rest of your reaction on RUclips. I knew you would love this series. And you reaction did not disappoint! I enjoyed this thoroughly. Ur da best!
1:05:53 The speed of sound is 343 meters/second. A mile is roughly 1600 meters, hence the 5 seconds.
In my mind, Hugh reunited with his wife in their ghost forms, shields her from Poppy and heals her delusions, bringing her back to normal eventually.
Dumb waiters were used to transport food and dishes between floors. Used primarily when families employ a separate kitchen staff as servants.
I loved watching this with you. I cried like a baby too. Thanks Cassie x
The thing I always come back to is that on any other show, Nell's monologue in the last episode would have sounded totally trite and smarmy...but Hill House spends so much time building the characters and their relationships up first, that it totally earns the sincerity and love needed to make that speech work.
I think it helps a lot to realize that all of the kids are each step of grief. Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.
I love this show. Such a good mix of sad and scary.
