- With an action packed trip to Lake Tahoe, California planned Ryan and I had to take what we could get to sneak away for a quick mountain bike ride. That meant we only had four hours to sneak in as much local singletrack as we could AND we needed to find bikes to ride.
A little internet search pointed me to the awesome town of Truckee, CA which was about a 20 minute drive from our rental property. The bike shop we were recommended was called The Backcountry and it was exactly what we needed. They had very nice rental bikes and a friendly staff to help point us in the right direction for the type of trails we were looking for.
Our trailhead was only a few mile ride from the shop and the trail we had our eyes on was called Donkey Town. Formally known as Jackass. This proved to be exactly what we were looking for in terms of trail, bike, and time.
