Hi you do need a collectors licence to collect scrap even if it's a one off unfortunately. A collectors licence can be quite expensive depending on you local council. Tha thanks for watching the video
Good to see your helping the community cleaning up and putting the scrap back into good use for a second life for something. Looks like you lost weight during the production of this film.. it's a hard job hauling scrap in case you didn't already know hence your trousers falling off you.. hehehe
Hi I am already into recycling clothes Which I am working really hard on I am thinking of also collecting scrap metal plz can you advice me how and where to start from
Hi Anthony yes anyone can take metal to a scrap yard but you will need photo ID and proof of address. If your collecting for a living you will need a collector's licence from your local council. Hope that helps
@@123kerrison does that licence cost much? There is a fly tip near me where there was about 6kg of sreele bed springs which are in my garage, I would only be picking up odd bits of metal. All the scrappers on you tube just pick up metal, nothing said about needing a licence
Is it unusual for all those radiators to be sitting out waiting to be scrapped? That is a really good haul considering it is just a private person in their own MPV style vehicle or did you just get lucky on this occasion? 3 or 4 mornings a week like that would be a solid earner :)
Bit of a risk collecting iron like that unless you are equipped with a commercial vehicle and specialist metal collecting insurance. Get caught and the police will seize the car and take it on a one way trip to the scrap yard, unless you can show them the metal collecting insurance. I doubt you can even get it for a private car, and it triples the price of van insurance. Well done getting them to pay shearing money tho.
@@123kerrison They don't make you have a scrap collector's licence round here, so that's one extra burden for you. Video, which was excellent btw, gave the impression you don't go collecting iron very often. I gave up when they started enforcing the Waste Carriers licence years ago.

There's hardly any metal to collect anyway as the Romanians scoop up every screw. I still collect brass and copper on foot and save it up at home. Once I get 20 kg I drop it off at EMR when I'm nearby. Basically a shopping bag full and it goes in. You can get away with that under the householders exemption.
At 1:53 that not steel the metals to thin. Its light iron. In Connecticut U.S.A. steel is 0.8 cents a lb and light iron is 0.6. So its cheaper and lighter. Im also surprised you make $ scrapping in a car

Light iron is thin metal and things that are not entirely metal. Think cookers and washing machines, car doors etc. Otherwise known as 'shred' or 'frag feed' as it goes through the fragmentiser. Shearing is clean, thicker stuff, that can go through a shearer. The spec used to insist it was 5mm thick, but some yards will accept car rims, angle iron and it seems radiators now.
