Well damn, this was one hell of a surprise of a song. But the seemingly simple lyrics are amazing! What a healthy take on a relationship that didn't last long term!
This is easily one of the best 'romantic' type songs I've heard in a while.
And as others have noted, holy highlighting your voice! Your bass playing is so freaking awesome it does tend to take the center stage when you play (if you'll forgive me the phrase/pun) that it's easy to forget that (wow!) you can sing AND have a great voice.
So, this was a huge - but ultimately welcome - surprise! Here's to artists doing what they want (new/different music) whether or not the fans are ready for it!
