  • Hello firends. This is the fourth and final episode of my Academy 1/48 scale Curtiss P-40N build. In this video I paint the model, add decals and create weathering effects with oil paints, pencils and pigments. Enjoy. If you want see more of my work join me Facebook, Instagram or Telegram.

Great build once again. The pencil has a very nice effect! Looks pretty convincing. I am thinking of getting that same pencil now :)

Very nice build! Chipping with a pencil looks good and easier then using chipping fluid.

Well this is going to be interesting, I just picked this kit up as a return to building plastic models and wanted a bit of a guide to building and painting, now I need to figure out how to fix some of the shortcomings without the phot etc, or riveting tool. I think the straps are doable with some aluminum foil and sclupting putty. But I have no idea about the rivets or other details. I also dont have replacement decals, so even more fun!

Im sure you will figure that out. 🙂

The Academy parts fit together well and the surface detail is crisp and convincing. Unfortunately the kit windscreen and spinner are simply not right and the OEM decals are awful, but all those issues are fixable. Really nice job you've done here. Have you tried one of the Special Hobby P-40 kits? They're absolutely brilliant even with the heavy-duty panel lines.
