I applaud you. You could have EASILY just skipped the effort of putting in the lady in distress, and especially the ever moving cameraman trying to get that sweet film. I have to say King Kong 2005’ because the creators and Andy Serkis really elaborated on Kong’s nature as a gorilla in the way he looked, moved, expressed himself, and his sheer athleticism and might. Yes, he was entirely CG and one of the most modestly sized of the Kongs’, but it’s hard not to have a huge sweet spot for him. He was easy to feel for. My eyes were welling up when he got shot down and knocked out with chloroform, and I know I’m not the only one. The 76’ Kong was lovable as well, and had, to me the most unbearable death to watch; shot down with mini guns. He got pulverized everywhere! It’s insane he was actually still alive after his fall off the World Trade Center long enough for Dwan to see him pass. Really sad to watch.

I basically grew up with the 2005 King Kong. I was about 5 when it first came out in theaters. I don’t remember ever feeling scared, but feeling sympathy for him. I DO remember my dad took me to the theater to see it, but when we got to the scene with the guys in the pit being attacked by multiple giant monsters, my dad took us out to switch to “Chicken Little” 😂

I know a lot of people hate on it, but I think my favorite is Peter Jackson's "King Kong" simply because of Andy Serkis' performance. He's such an amazingly good performer with motion capture. The stop-motion of the original "King Kong" is a very close second for me. =)
I also love that King Kong movie from 2005 too even if I didn't have the nostalgia for the original King Kong movie as I did with other stop motion movies and shows like the ones from Aardman since 2005 was my first introduction/gateway to the King Kong media along with my two favorite guilty pleasure cartoons of King Kong like the Kong 2000 animated series that I use to watch on Jetix growing up and the Rankin Bass King Kong cartoon I discovered and thought it was adorable because of his design lol.
No offense on the "not having the Nostalgia for the original King Kong as I did with other stop motion media" part btw.
Now that was legendary seeing every incarnation of Kong hanging from the Empire State Building like that.

In my opinion, the 2005 incarnation of King Kong is the definitive version of King Kong.
He was pretty small in that film tho. Sure, it works in a one-off self-contained movie, but in a series with monsters like Godzilla he'd have to be much bigger.
He did look the most realistic, that's for sure.

For me, the most intimidating and best kong will always be Kong 1976. Because I watched it as a child and those impressions will stay with me for the rest of my life. Everything in this film is atmospheric, and the music and King Kong are his look, his roar, etc...

King Kong 2005 - He was my first introduction to the Kong franchise and yet my favorite part about it was the parts when he fights the V-Rex and escapes the stage and destroys it, plus what I also loved about the movie is that it use to have a toyline from Playmates which is the same brand that made toys from another favorite franchise of mine TMNT :)

2. Kong: The Animated Series (2000) - Dispite the flaws? I remembered watching this cartoon on Jetix when I was a kid and thought it was pretty enjoyable to me, plus what I also loved about it is that they got voice actors like Kirby Morrow,David Kaye, and Scott McNeil from one of my favorite Transformers series' from the 90's/2000's such as Beast Wars and the Unicron Trilogy.

3. Rankin Bass' The King Kong Show - Usually the only Rankin Bass media I remember was their Christmas movies like Rudolph and Frosty but when I first discovered their King Kong cartoon? Some say they didn't like it, but in my defense? like the Kong cartoon in the 2000's I enjoyed when I was a kid, this King Kong cartoon's actually alright with me imo since I even think his design is pretty adorbs :)

4. Monsterverse - I enjoyed Skull Island as I equally enjoyed 2005 King Kong while also being fond of Godzilla vs Kong since my favorite part about it was the Hollow Earth, so this Kong's also alright in my book, can't wait for The New Empire next year lol.

Very interesting size comparison! Kong's size certainly has changed sporadically over the years (Even more than Godzilla)! I also like how you added in his animated and Broadway incarnations, as well. You should do a "Size Comparison" video on the Ray Harryhausen creatures (If you're up for it, of course)! :D

Well, given he was pretty small for a kaiju at about 30 feet, they gotta make him bigger to take on the bigger monsters in other films XD
