Yep like Jacksonville. Votran use to have them. Those RTS Votran had replaced the Flyer D901s and the Flxibles that were not wheelchair accessible. I think Jacksonville's RTS replaced the Ikarus 286s and the 1986 Flxible Metros. Gainesville has them too.
Yea for now we have 8 Gilligs around ,5 BRT hybrids 41ft ,3 baby Gilligs not hybrids with the BRT front but the regular rear and one Baby Gillig trolley running somewhere around the city .I haven't gotten a chance to take pictures or filmed them do to my works hours.
No this is just for all of us who like and enjoy this kind of stuff that have to do with public transportation. Some are into cars, trucks, planes, helicopters, buses or all of the above but if you're not a public transportation fan you wouln't understand.
They are 30ft two of them buses 12301 and 12302 will be on Miami Beach routes 115,117,123 and bus 12303 will be use on The Cutler Bay area on routes 1 and 287.
Well that's going to be upsetting, but as for the Series 40 (several Novas around here have those engines. I hope I get a camera to enjoy them in the meanwhile).
Yea the reason we have Gilligs now is that MDTA doesn't have the funds to enter a bid procurement and enter a contract to build buses to meet MDTA's specs .instead we piggyback on others people stuff and that's how we ended up with those Gilligs and New Flyer buses that are not to our spec. If you notice with the expeption of MDTA and BCT most of Florida run Gillig buses some still have RTS buses around. This is also the reason many of our 1999 Nabi 40 LFW's will be around until 2017.
They moved most of the retired busses from the side of the building at the central bus division and stored them on land across street from the metrorail facility thus leaving bus 5006 and the RTS bus fully restored in the MDT historic bus fleet
Miami is now ordering Gilligs? I knew I wasn't trippin when I heard rumors that was going to happen. I heard NABI has not been impressing Miami lately to the point they stopped ordering buses from NABI. Awesome video by the way.
Oh BTW BCT's 2013 Nabi 40LFW 3G are on the way.Buses #1301-1328 are strait diesel and buses 1329-1349 are Diesel Hybrids this will probably put an end to the BCT's 1999 Gilligs and what's left of the 2000,01 Gilligs.Say good bye to the Series 40 engines folks.
Used to for many years and sometimes when the car is at the shop getting some work done i ride them to go to work and back. Now when i get my vacations i do ride them often just for fun but avoid them on rush and school hours but Im glad i don't have to depend on them to go to work that part was not fun. I do however do ask my self that question, Why buses? why not art or music but then again hey as long as you 're having fun and you enjoying it and no one is getting hurt what the heck.

You do that, too? I thought I was the only one. :)
The Cummins powered Nabi's sound so good.
