- The Catalogo of 1591 already speaks of Guiguinto Convent, probably a temporary one as a visita of Caruya (later known as Bigaa and now Balagtas), with Saint Ildephonse, Archbishop of Toledo as its patron saint, and the prior of the former as its attending priest. According to Fray Gaston de San Agustin, OSA, during the 1600's, Guiguinto had two chapels, one was on the hills of Malis in honor of San Bernabe while the other was in Matungao, Bulacan under San Nicholas de Tolentino.

The History of Saint Ildefonse of Toledo Church is compiled in a coffee table book entitled "Ika-400 Taong paggabay ni San Ildefonso, Pintakasi nitong Bayan". The book can also be found at the Philippine National Library but available for sale at the Parish Office. The book exhibits old pictures of the church, of its parish priests, the church and the bamboo bride way back 1893, and the likes.
my experienced inside the church, really memorable and proud to be part of --
Yes, the pictre of the church and the bamboo bridge (1893). With pictures also of sub-parishes and their respective chapels and history, The book will account the history of the church before it was officially recognized by the Augustinian. Included also were the sacrifices made by the people to build the church. The last part of the coffee table book was related trivia that would surprise you.
