I think being in a foreign country, moreso different continent altogether you tend to miss the family support both emotionally and financially so yeah it tends to be a bit tougher than home. Also your expectations grow with each step you take, often without the corresponding progress or success hence the feeling of regression leading to a psuedo depression or underwhelming feeling.
