No mvp singlehandedly destroyed the whole team a year ago and get awarded for the mvp Esp after rockets needs to get new coach, new teammates and new system to clean up harden's mess. It is why rockets are building the team around d'antoni system rather than harden as harden's selfish isolation style has proven to be biggest failure which he got his coaches fired in 11 games, made all his teammates into scrubs in their career low and pushed them out of town one by one. Harden is now simply a product of d'antoni, which it is why d'antoni deserves the coty for turning the rockets season around and cleaning up harden's mess.
Mvp stands for the most valuable player, not most delusional player like harden who self proclaiming himself being the best player of the world when he still can't play any D and also being all time worst turnover machine and flopper.

It amazes me how people can be so stupid with the rebounds. They box out for Russ to get the rebounds to let Russ start the breakaway. Why waste a few seconds to have Steven Adams to catch and pass to Russ? Russ on the break is gonna out run pretty much everyone and ignite the offense. An offense with no shooters, which is why the fast break is so key for the thunder. Also if you watch the thunder games it is by design for one of the power forwards to almost "cherry pick" so Russ can get a long outlet pass. The team is winning so why does it matter how he gets the rebounds. Especially if it is helping the team.

its actually a legitimate strategy to let Westbrook get the rebound. If Russel gets the rebound, he can immediately take it and run straight up the court on a fast break. he's the most dangerous person in the NBA on a fast break. it's not cherry picking rebounds, it's a legitimate offensive strategy

triple double average was the marquis stat for Oscar Robertson and has historically been held in high regard in recognition of players who are effective in multiple facets of the game but now that russ is doing it all of a sudden it isn't that big a deal....russ is the mvp, let's stop making excuses

Any real basketball analyst/expert would know that the showtime Lakers and those Jason Kidd nets teams used to box their man out so Magic / Jason Kidd could run through get the rebound and push the ball to start to offense. Shannon Sharpe keep saying Westbrook has a great individual season but his team is not winning more games as James Harden, who is also having an MVP. But if I recall, Adrian Peterson won the MVP back in 2013 after rushing for 2097 yds, not to mention he didn't break Eric Dickerson's record, with a record of 10-6, barely getting into the playoffs after having to beat Green Bay the last game of the year. Adrian had a great season but his team W-L record was not near Aaron Rodgers who had way better record and were putting up decent numbers also! It really just shows the HATE for Westbrook why people are not giving him this MVP in a LANDSLIDE which it should be!!

Rebounding is not done individually, it's done as a team, so of course steven adams has to box out, which he's GOOD at, allowing the thunder to be dominate on the boards in general.
That said, russ obviously gets some easy rebounds like all bigs, but he also rebounds OVER bigs all the time too.

MVP:for me, i think the player gets mvp is this:can make the playoffs(not davis or emiild)1 or zero "sidekicks"(not curry or james), plays both sides of the ball, dosent get their shots rejected(thomas leads nba), turnovers(westbrook and harden lead the nba) leonard is the mvp here why:makes playoffs and is at least top 4 or 3 best record in the entire nba, has alridge,old parker and manu and a OK bench, plays defense and offense at least 20,7,4, shots rejected average, 2 turnovers a game

Harden's last season stats are almost identical to this season and only off by 2 pts in scoring, 1 reb and almost 5 assist per game from the 2014-2015 season. Due to the fact the last 2 seasons and this current season Harden's stats are almost identical, the newly acquired players and MDA offensive style of play are the reason for Houston success this season.

Russ is more valuable in terms of most stats. Russ has a higher Value over replacement player, plus minus (both offensively and defensively), higher per, assist percentage (not total assists cuz Harden wins there), and turns the ball over less. Harden does get more offensive win shares and is more efficient with the ball in terms of scoring.

it's only stat padding if its being done to help your stats and not win the game. but when russ gets the rebounds he can start a fast break immediately which leads to easy baskets. But when he doesnt get the rebound it allows the defense to get set. its really not that hard of a concept to grasp.
Thank you! Someone with a brain! If I may add to that OKC are the best rebounding team in the league so if anything, Russell is really helping the team on the boards. The athletic guard grabbing rebounds as the big men focus on boxing out is ironically the best rebounding scheme in the league.
Westbrook is amazing definitely MVP regardless of the record he plays at an unreal level every night, But the real question is are they going to get him some real help so he can be put into a position to be a champion.

I have absolutely no problem with Russ getting his triple doubles, I think it's an amazing feat, but don't tell me that the other players boxing out for him so that he can get his rebounds is a basketball strategy. People can't get that lost into what he's doing to think doing that is part of the game. I would like to think he just wants it more than to say his teammates are boxing out to help pad his stats, it cheapens what he's doing and the game it self.

I noticed it, okc or maybe westbrick himself wanted to be in the paint when someone attempts a free throw. Usually only bigs are on there boxing out and fighting for board but not for okc, they put him there so he can get cheap rebounds. Guards are supposed to be behind the arc. Have you guys not seen this? Okc is engineering westbrick to get rebounds.
