Weightless soft plastic frogs work really well also. They give a good presentation with the kicking legs on the top, and they drift down subtly when you stop reeling. I have basically hooked every fish in my little pond with it at this point, so it's not working as well now, but the first morning I tried it, I fished for 3 hours, and hooked 24 bass, landing 19. It was the best day I have ever had on my spot. I am not used to being that successful, so I let the line get too frayed up, and bass number 25 took the whole set up with him. Now I know to check and re-tie if needed. Thanks for the uploads as always.
That’s one I haven’t tried too often. Ill have to pick some up and give em a go. Was on a river in Michigan today and slayed em on a spro frog. Didn’t try the paddletail trick, but I realize now I should have. It was almost identical conditions... raining off and on, shallow, grassy... just with smallmouth and current. Luckily we slayed em anyways... this’ll be a fun one coming up. Thanks for watchin my man. Means the world 🙏🏼
@@YakFishField I should have said I prefer the Rage Tail Space Monkey soft plastic, and a worm hook with no weight at all. They're getting harder to come by, but some of the other Rage Tails are good. I toss it around all sorts of structure and shorelines and have good success with it. Usually I will let it sit, then run it up to the surface, and finally let it drift slowly down, but it can also run at many depths like your swim bait here. The legs kick on the surface pretty convincingly. It's been a fun one for me, but tbh, I haven't caught a bass above 3 lbs this year. That is kind of pathetic, but I have also been really branching out and trying to perfect other lures and how I present them. It's worth a bit less bites for the time being. I tried your crappie dock fishing technique this spring btw. I caught a few, and hooked a catfish that wound me all up underneath a dock. By the time I had passed the rod through all the columns, he was off. It's still so much fun, all of it, even the misses.
Tried this method at my local ponds that last couple days, never caught so many fish within an hour and a half in my life! Lots of fish and not bad for my area! Thanks for this :D
You have spoilt me with all the monster roosters and cuberas. as good as the bass bite was... my pulse remained dormant. I miss yr saltwater kayak actions so much, I have them on repeat. 😎
We have alot of those around Indiana. Linton Indiana has some of the best quarry fishing around. Huge gills, crappie, bass, cats. Yrs ago we would go for a weekend and leave with wheelie coolers of fish. I caught a 2lb 3oz crappie out of one about 13 yrs ago, several over 1.5 and bluegills the size of a pie plate
It’s SO fun. Usually doesn’t maximize bites but every one is so damn fun, it’s worth it. Very situational though, that bite was on for 90 minutes then died abruptly when the sun came out
I had a blast man. Indiana gets two thumbs up from this guy based on first impressions. Chad is a real solid dude, and he’s from there as well. Good people
Fun afternoon and a close call with the drone. I treed one of mine and dropped it like 15ft once and only lost two blades, still worked fine. They are tougher than you think.
Lake Monroe near there holds bigger fish although they are harder to target regularly for video content. Next year or this fall you might target an hour west of here at Bass Lake in Greene-Sullivan State Forest. They have all of those aggressive 15-17" Largemouth coupled with Muskie in the deep weedlines. Largemouth there bite rattletraps and everything else, Muskie are harder to catch, I think live bait might be best option with the artificial fishing pressure for those.
Rob, if you enjoyed this, you should try to get on a Northern Pike topwater bite at some point. They are less coordinated on top than bass so they miss more often, but they FLY out if the water. And if they are willing to bite, they will strike at the boat like Jaws.
Man your my hero love the vids cannot believe your in the Hoosier state never would have believed you would come to my state and be so close to where I live
That's bass fishing at its most fun. For drone retrieval, consider investing in an arborist slingshot. They run about $120 on amazon. It launches a bean bag with a line attached up and over limbs. You can yank on the line to bring down the drone. I've rescued many RC planes using one.
Im sure someones already said this but when you see a fish following your lure do a figure 8 when it gets to the yak. I think its more of a muskie tactic but ive caught a few bass doin it too.
@@YakFishField I didnt even think about the fact that you were sitting down. I havent done enough bass fishing in my yak to know how hard it is to do a figure 8 while sitting. Maybe if you use like a 9ft rod you could do figure 8s in the yak lol.
18:48 I don't care how good a fisherman you are or how experienced you are at kayak fishing, everyone does this from time to time. You feel stoopid, but it happens.
How bad was the damage. I had a GoPro karma that crashed 4 times but it was because the internal magnets were calibrated....at least that’s what GoPro said....I now own a DJI spark and love it!
Just four broken props that I can tell, but it's been acting a little... skitzy ever since. Think it knocked something loose. No accidents so far though.
Robert Field! I want to see you at Los Buzos some day! I have a question for you though, what kayak weighs less than 90 lbs and can keep up with the old town predator pdl? My buddy and I often go 3+ miles and I am tired of being left behind in my hobie i11.
My wife loves the Lightning Strike for fresh & salt bays. My son (13) uses it too. As fast as my Hobie outback and way more stability. I’ll switch over for my next yak.
@@antonioclayton5224 Can't help you there. The bluegill came from Ketona Lakes near Tarrant City on Hwy 79. Both are currently private and posted against trespass or fishing.

Try a good ol’ Yamamoto senko in a natural dark green color. If you wacky rig it ( hook the plastic worm in the middle ) and rig it weightless , let it sink and then lift it and then let it sink again.

Too many in there. That’s why the whole “if you eat bass you’re the devil” taboo is so ignorant. Best thing we could do for that fishery would be to take 15 of em and have a fish fry. The remaining ones would grow bigger.
Normally when you see a quarry it's deep and clear. They look nothing like what you guys are fishing. I've caught at least five bass over 6 pounds in quarry's all over Indiana
Not sure I understand. Are you being sarcastic? Where we were fishing used to be a dry quarry. It was abandoned decades ago, but there are new quarries adjacent to the one we fished. Thought we explained all that
