Thanks David. You should defintiely go there, it's amazing. I'll drop the location into the community post this morning as I got distracted yesterday and didn't get time
Hard to say if i have a favorite one, nice set of photographs. I do a fare amount of bird photography with a Fujifilm XH2 and a 100-400mm Fujifilm lens, I recently added a 1.4 converter. I photograph shore birds and raptors from the Hudson Valley of NYS to Bombay Hook NWR in Delaware and other areas of the Eastern Shores of Virginia. For a number of years I used a 14 ft touring kayak to photograph birds and wildlife from. This is my first time viewing your videos, so I have a few questions, where was this video taken, when you use a tripod do you use a ball head or something else, lastly is your camera a DSLR or mirrorless and what makes or model as many older cameras don't have IBIS. Thanks.
@@jamesmlodynia8757 hi James, thanks for your time watching and questions. I am considering a x1.4 converter, hire do you find it? I use a canon r7 which is an apsc mirrorless with the 100-500 lens. When I use the bento tripod I use the ballhead when using it for wildlife but use the geared head when doing landscape photography. I hope this helps

Interesting video and a great trip to go on to Spain for a bit of mid-winter sun and photography. There’s me trying to photo Storks in Sussex in dark grey. Not happening! Having sunshine is so important to shooting anything event at low ISOs for fast moving birds when you need a low shutter speed like 1/1000 of a second. Otherwise the ISO is high or the images isn’t rack sharp as there will be some movement in the image…. On another note, I also have the R7 which is a cracking camera for the money, but was lucky enough to get an R6 m2 recently and that has pretty much killed me using the T7 now. Sure I will get more reach with the R7 and 100-500 lens but the autofocus and image quality is much much better and my keeper rate with the R6 is far higher by miles. I used to think that there couldn’t be much of a difference shooting in full frame as opposed to APSC but I am a definite convert now! Great video though, thanks
Many thanks Gavin. Hopefully you'll get some sunny days in sussex. I agree about full frame and the benefits and I think next year I'll do a bit of looking around, although the R7 Mark II is due out so that may swing me. I just need to save up now (and prime my wife for how much I'll be spending)
I liked "The Nest Builder" image best. I found it interesting how much that area of Spain looks like the Southwest of the USA, or even parts of Eastern Washington. Since not all my lenses have a control ring and the R7 only has 2 rotating controls, I use Fv mode on both my R7 and R5 MKII, and used to on my old R5 as well. This way both camera operate basically the same. I normally leave exposure comp highlighted and let auto ISO handle it for me. The RF 100-500 pairs great with the R7. While I do use it sometimes I will say the RF 200-800 pairs better with the R5 series than the R7.
Thanks for your feedback Jeff, and great choice for favourite image. This is one of mine too as it shows the Vulture behaviour naturally. I haven't really tried Fv mode yet too much, your use of it is going to prompt me to try it more on location for sure. I think if I had the R5 I would have gone for the 200-800 as they're the same price, but think it may be a bit of over reach with the R7. Maybe next year? although the R7 mark II is supposedly coming out next year some time
Do you have a favourite photo of the birds or have any question on the tips. Please feel free to let me know
Great video Andy and some Fab tips. I think my favorite was the portrait Vulture and shadow shot👍
Many thanks Richard. I really like the shadow images too. I feel a return to coming on 👍
Great video and advice 👍
@@stigfloberghagenphotography many thanks Stig and glad it comes across as I’m starting to love bird photography
Great vid!! My fave pics were the two shadow ones

Amazing tips and tutorial Andy, I’ve just invested in a 600mm and want to do more wildlife this year
@@robertschmidt4294 many thanks for your kind words Robert. 600mm is a great investment for wildlife and I look forward to seeing some of your images

It's a great camera Andy and well worth saving for. I fyou get the EF adapter you can use your existing EF lenses. I use a dji pocket 2 for vlogging
