Been waiting for this one, great as always Sandy! Also great seeing your production quality evolving over time and now reaching the next level as well! Now if you could just send some of that instinct on reading opponents next hit that'd be awesome, thank you! :)
Beautiful scenery and good information as always. Really glad you've decided to incorporate different (video) shots to make the video flow, keep it up. I've started playing padel after the quarantine since the football fields are still closed and now I'm not giving up. Your videos have really helped me learn how to play better in a really short period of time. Obrigado!
Pedro Patrão thank you for watching them!! Yes, exactly, working on my flow of the videos...learning each one I think! Ha. Hope you keep at the padel and enjoy playing!! One day even replace football 😜
Quality video, as usual Sandy ! If you can spare the time, I do have a question, it originates from a tournament that I was playing this weekend. It was the first padel tournament at a tennis club that just installed new courts, participants were mostly high ranked tennis players that gave padel a shot. After watching our first match, they clearly decided that they did not want to deal with our chopped shots at the glass so they constantly looked for ways to take the net early. They always volleyed our bandeja's straight back at us or in the open space while moving in, sometimes by moving in early sometimes just picking it up from their feet while still managing to get some pace on the ball. We still managed to win most matches (lost in the semi's) but that tactic gave us some problems, it looked like a clash in styles... tennis vs padel. Any advice on how to deal with that ?
Stijn Horsten of course I can spare the time 👍 and that’s a great question! I am sure many are in that position. When it comes to tennis players, they obviously hate the walls and play a very aggressive style. So some good options are to be patient at the back of the court, hit nice high lobs and wait for their inevitable flat smashes off the back glass. Don’t get sucked into their speed game. With your volleys and Overheads try to find a glass (maybe side glass if they are blocking everything). Also the chiquita can be frustrating for them to deal with as they will think they can hit everything with pace. If they’re blocking your bandeja, hit faster towards their body, then their blocking will be more difficult...the key would be to be patient and try to play good padel (not joining their fast game)...you will be able to frustrate them a lot more than they will you!!
@@ThePadelSchool Thanks for answering so quickly, that's some solid advice. We did try to stay back and play high lobs, sadly it was pretty windy and we ended up making too many mistakes in general to take the win and the final. The majority of our winners came from defending their smashes. Anyways, well played to our opponents. Do you have advice for handling difficult weather conditions ? Wind, sunlight directly in the eyes on overheads and wet glass ;).
Stijn Horsten really interesting to read your comment here - we have had an ex-professional tennis player, now a successful coach, ‘guesting’ at our padel club for a few weeks. Although he says that padel is not really his game, his strategy is exactly as you describe. He wants to get forward, intercept everything he can, and where possible to despatch the ball with power. His topspin drive, not a classic padel shot, is very effective in the hands of a skilled and powerful tennis player. I find the only way to counter him is to push him back with lobs and shots to the corners, then close him down at the net.....or if possible give him the ‘nevera’ treatment! Great fun, though, trying to wrest a win from a very skilled (tennis) player who is also a natural with the padel racket!
Is topspin/forward spin never used besides on smashes? I have only been playing for 3 hours but I think I have done more forward spins than back spins. Any thoughts?
MonnizProductions at net it is never used apart from smashes. At higher levels it can be used to hit to the feet of the volleyer...but if you’re learning I’d recommend trying to minimise topspin in your game 👍
@@ThePadelSchool Thanks for the quick reply! 👍😊 Is it almost the case to where a flat hit is just better? As it won't bounce up as much? I find it easy to get control(aim/precision) and speed with topspin! But I will try to keep it in mind for later today! :)

Me and my partner have gotten into a bit of a discussion when it comes to winning the net. My view is that we should try to go forward to and take the net as soon as we have a fair opportunity and then if we are directly lobbed deep we do the leg work and go back to defending when needed, or if the lob is not that deep the active player comes back to net. While my partner want us to stay in defense position until we safely can take the net without easily being lobbed, and with this strategy avoid too much running back and forth. What is your advise?
Great question - I guess my question would be what is your definition of a "fair opportunity"? That is probably where the confusion lies - your partner probably has a different definition to you. So I would say make the decision to come forward when you are both confident to do so and within your capability.

@@ThePadelSchool It makes perfect sense. We discussed further and one aspect is to not be too predictable as well. The most important is that we do the same and not end up with one player at net and one back. We concluded to use communication commands “come forward” or “come back” when needed
@@ThePadelSchool * it went well ! we played for 7 sets ! lots of net positions ......thx again. We are tennis players who try to transfer to Padel players. With your videos we will manage ...... some time in the future
Congrats! Love the adidas padel rackets. The ball seems to stay on the face a little longer giving a nice feeling of control. Also had less tennis elbow flare ups with them as well.
I'm one of those people who during a long ball kinda gets lost in where to stand, this helped a lot! Thank you!
Happy to help and you are not alone!! It is a difficult thing to get the hang of! :)
Great video as always Sandy !! Keep up the awesome job mate.
Thanks! Will do my best :)
Nice to see a tactical video for a change. Would love to hear how you build a point for a winner either from a defensive or an attacking position.
Would be some good videos. Once I get to net, I would always try to follow this: ruclips.net/video/5Avkhbn9DiA/видео.html
