I still remember your original "how cheap am i" videos from I believe 2008.. The one thing that always stuck with me was keeping the warm water in the tub until it was cold to release heat into the room, genius! There are a good handful of people like you who live like this and it's always amazing to see what people come up with to save resources.

@@davidbrock4506 yeah I remember one of your old videos where you talked about how cheap you were, my dad thinks I'm nuts because I started plugging the tub whenever I took a shower a few years ago, to do exactly that, let the water release the heat back into the room before I drain it.. And I always vent The dryer back into the house and put a pair of pantyhose on the end of the pipe to catch the excess lint... Every couple weeks you need to turn the pantyhose inside out to get the lint out but honestly it really saves on the electric bill..

Is it a phobia or do it as a personal challenge ? For benny hill it was apparently a phobia and it got him killed not wanting to pay for antibiotics when he got sick. I'm cheap but you got me beat by leaps and bounds. I got my 22 year old saturn, I've driven for 7 years, people make fun of it cause it's old. I bought a cheap house that's apparently efficient. "according to the gas and electric companies" I'm roughly 20%(minimum)more efficient than most of my neighbors. Last month electric bill was 43% more efficient. Most of my lawn/garden equipment I got free or dirt cheap and usually fix with leftover parts I garbage picked. Family keeps telling me to renovate the house or buy new stuff. At some point years from now I'll probably cave. For now, I got no debt other than the mortgage and not living paycheck to paycheck like the rest of the family.

This is some great information. I've used David's farm hacks since about 2009. The most used hack I've learned from you is replacing cam chains on dirt bike and atv engines. Cutting the chain, connecting it to the old one, pulling it around, and welding it back together. It works great and has saved me so much time. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with the world Dave!

@@davidbrock4506 I haven't either. Used this trick myself multiple times. I even quit buying master links for the drive chains. I just use a link from an old spair chain. Grind the pins down, pop it apart, then put the old link in the new/used chain and weld the pins. I've also used your hack for bending back bent valves. So far that has worked every time except once. I ended up braking a valve on a 84 suzuki Lt185 trying to bend it back.

So Canada is the most expensive place to have a cell phone; perhaps that’s why they’re pushed so aggressively, thus causing me to dig my heels in ever deeper. Online services that now require a cell number, I’ve given them the bird. I won’t use most technology that wasn’t available or widely used in the 90s.
I have trash-picked and scoured the used ads for and repaired if necessary most of what I use, not because I’m particularly cheap but because I appreciate the quality and styling of yesteryear. Also, I grew up around people who worked on their own stuff. Most stuff made today in my opinion is fugly and a waste of resources.
There are quite a few things you do that I simply could not do because of my obsessive-compulsive disorder. I recall you saying that you have it as well, but it can take on different forms, yours being a hoarding compulsion if I recall correctly.

I can't even take a shower without freezing my ass off here in Maine lol. My house is a farmhouse from 1820 with the original single pane windows that hold absolutely no heat. I would freeze to death without clothes on here. And I easily will burn over 10 cords of wood this winter and half a tank of heating oil that I have. I refuse to fill the tank right now oil is like $5.61 per gallon, which is a fuckin bullshit ripoff!! And I have an electric heater but it uses like 1000 watts and also wastes power to run a stupid light show and an electric motor thing to make a fake fire light up and look pretty. I fuckin hate winter, what a mess it makes.
