The delay on the flatline on the last combine is a simple yet nice touch. Sells it a fair bit better with how they go limp from the injuries and then after a moment of final struggle expire - as opposed to audibly being dead the moment HP hit 0 which feels more gamey.
It's borrowed directly from HL Alyx but yeah I agree that it's super cool, and the "gurgling" sounds add a layer of brutality to it.
The WAV file itself is delayed
That bone breacking noise when you melee an enemy is so crunchy and I like it. Also that recharge system is awesome. Instead of using the battery the moment you pick it up you use it out of combat or during combat when you actually need it 👌

I don't know where to start with how awesome this looks. The movement, intense firefights, or the great and tasteful sound design. It looks like a high quality spin off for Half-Life 2 coupled with the intensity of FEAR. I can't wait to see more!

There is gonna be so many "Half-Life 2: Inhuman Footstep Sounds" on the GMOD workshop when this releases
The fact that the last combine knew to try and stop you from peeking the corner seems like a very neat detail; I'm not sure if it's because he sees you poking out- or, the fact that he knows you'll be peeking around that.

Are those grunts or CPs?!?! I've been wanting someone to make more low-level combine varieties like this. Take your time with this mod, it keeps getting better and better and better

First few are CPs and the last is a soldier by looks
@@honorguard7616 But they have grunt helmets, grunt voices, and grunt smgs. I think they are more overwatch than CP, but would love to hear the dev's stance
It refers to itself as "Echo-1" which is the same designation the grunts in Half Life Alyx say, so probably something middle of the road
@@yacabo111 That's a good catch! Perhaps this is what grunts normally look like, and they were only wearing their hazmat onezies in HL:A because they were working in the quarantine zone.

Wow, this has become a half-life game that mod the itself with a combination of half-life alyx aesthetic and half-life 2 aesthetic really fits this mod.
I like how the new footsteps and gunfights sound made the mod looks so promising.
I LOVE this kind of methodical fighting. It doesn't actually feel all that powerful. It doesn't look like you're a bullet sponge who can run into the open and rush right into the enemy's face. All this sneaking, running from cover to cover, tactically deciding on the fly when, where and how you want to deal with an enemy while taking as little damage as possible is very fun. I am very excited to see where this goes!!

Great mod so far! I'm still hopefully waiting for some mod that puts you into the feet of some average rebel and make you do guerilla tactics to survive.
That's what Dangerous World did, and it was fine even though you had HEV mechanics in the Rebel outfit you get for some reason.

At first I was skeptical about using enhanced Combine models in the regular source engine, but I'm glad to see it looks like it's not as jarring as I'd thought.

The gun smacking for melee gives this a slight Halo feel to the gameplay, I like it though.

and its kind of unique how whenever you bash a combine with a gun or gun them down then the death it takes a delay then the death SFX plays

Shit, most enemies making their death sound a few seconds *after* they're actually killed is the kind of seemingly easy to implement but not obvious to think of tiny detail among meany that I've always wanted to be in games.

Weapon animations and textures have always caught my attention. and I imagined a replacement of animation and textures of juniez, I sincerely hope the game comes out on Steam for free to play. And finally a replacement of animation and weapon textures comes out, for Garry's mod :,).
The gameplay reminds me of escape from tarkov alot, its like a perfect blend of half life 2 and escape from tarkov, i only hooe there is going to be more unique weapons for the combine and rebels.

I think you should work on the walking and the grabbing animation, the walking one looks like the half life one bob. This game looks awesome.
Since this game is set in south America, I'd love some above ground combat if possible

Hey, I'm a sound designer. I was wondering if I could help out with this mod? I do voice work also (Not cringe voicework either, I'm 28 years old and I've worked on a few source mods). I was also a huge advocate for Black Mesa Source and worked occassionally with the devs throughout the years with advice on visual design and sound. Lemme know!

To be fair, any melee hit that isn't by the crowbar or on the nape should stun or incapacitate the enemies. For instance, when the first CP unit is hit with the MP7 from behind, immediate death seems too unrealistic and anticlimactic.
Personal preference aside, the gameplay is as dopamine producing as it can be. The sound design really adds to the immersion layer with the crunchy, powerful tone it incorporates and the animations keep up with today's standards.
It must be about time we get out hands on this!
