In an interview a few years back, Timothy Zahn said that is actually how he pronounced it and he chose that word because it means "sparkling," which makes sense if the whole planet is a city. If I am remembering correctly, Lucas read it out loud as we hear it in the movies and so that was that.
The Venetor class also supported an “artillery deck” on both port and starboard sides. It was pretty much heavy artillery cannons that were used as casemates. Although, they were only ever useful during broadside engagements at close range, mostly because they had to be aimed manually by a gunner.
Oh yeah I saw that on the bad batch show, do u know if these artillery decks were located in the trench in the side or somewhere in the primary command structure.
There have been a few ships presented that didn't have all the weaponry listed, but I think that's a minor gripe compared to all the other work he puts in to these videos. :)
And the 'ten light minutes' range, by the way, presumably refers to large, hardly mobile targets, also, for the turbolasers. Like whole planets or asteroids, say, with easily predictable paths. As for weapon numbers, some ships will vary. It's implied the Rebels often got cast off Nebulon-B frigates, for example, that may have lacked some guns. Rogue One even adds more turrets to the ones seen there. I assume main batteries/turrets also do have SOME computer aim assist, too.
@@chrissonofpear1384, most likely they do have some sort of computer assistance. But for the most part, ships in Star Wars seem to almost exclusively fight at ranges where you can visually see the target. Occasionally fleets will engage at long distance but due to the nature of turbo lasers (essentially just plasma hurtling through space) they eventually loose thermal heat, and mass, which taking shields into consideration the shot would to little to no damage. So really their going to be engaging targets within probably a couple thousand kilometers at the most.
@@hetzer5926 That's pretty much what I assumed anyway, yes. And the 'several light seconds' thing surely refers only to hitting planets, and the like. Theortical range and practical range are 2 very different things and concepts. For example, did you know that most military weaponry in service IRL actually has an effective range of many hundreds of meters? The problem is, naturally, the human factor. Most infantry engagements in the modern day don't take place anywhere close to that far, simply because of the inherent limitations of how far a human being can shoot with their Mark 1 Eyeball and natural reflexes to an accurate level. Same principle applies to other places as well, including SW. Theres nothing actually theoretically stopping a Venator (or whatever else) from shooting at something several light minutes away, or Christ, a solar system, a sector, a galaxy away, bar the actual dissipation rate of the turbolaser. Whether it will actually do so accurately enough to hit their target is another matter entirely. A stationary or very predictable target like a space station or planet would be very easy to hit from basically ANY range, but an even slightly mobile target is exponentially harder.
@@papapalps2415 i mean, in space, a 9mm handgun could shoot from the space station to the moon and beyond... does it mean you could hit a man floating in space by it? hell no :D

I also wondered about this, because the schematics don't show any rooms. And 420 fighters seems fair, but also a lot. It's smaller than the ISD but is packing far more than it does (not that I take an issue with it. The ISD doesn't consider itself a true carrier.)

The first time I ever saw the Venator class was at the end of Attack of the Clones and at the beginning of Revenge of the Sith and at the end of said movie and they were shown a lot more on Star Wars:The Clone Wars t.v. series.
According to latest canon materials, the ship had space for 192 v wings and 36 arc 170s but not 192 eta 2s, rather the 192 eta 2 and v wing space is the same storage space for both.
@@Halfscreen well they are pretty cool to look at and contain some nice up to date lore so, especially with your channel's content, it might be worth the investment.
4:15 onwards gives a real sense of scale, zooming in to realise the tiny speck in front of the foreward-most LAAT is an Eta-2, which gives a decent size comparison for an individual humanoid; zooming back out with that in mind really shows you how big these proto-Star Destroyers were, arguably better than even Fallen Order, whose Venator interior mission is spread out over broken-off segments and busted-open areas with the whole thing on it's side, ruining the experience somewhat, whereas in this video you can easily imagine the ship fitting in the number of fighter / bomber / transports mentioned in the video, though I still same the number of crew on wookieepedia should have a zero knocked off the end, let alone troop compliment, or else the onboard barracks must be stuffed in all the space between reactor and control towers.
Sorry but you are wrong ... The Acclamator doesn't have a ventral launch bay whereas the Venator does. The episode that clip came from shows that the Republic attack fleet is made up of both classes of ships. While the Acclamator does lead the attack the Venator is also in the mix.
Some extra info on the Venator: Ion thrust engines 59million credit cost Crew 7400 Class 1.0 hyperdrive 6 tractor beam projectors 52 point defence cannons 2 medium dual turbo laser cannons 4 torpedo tubes each holding 16 torpedoes Carries 2000 clone troopers 40 LAAT 24 AT-TE Various speeders, AT RTs, etc Anakin and Obi Wan's open circle fleet equipped an SPHA-T in the ventral hangar bay 3000 G acceleration 975 kph atmospherical speed Peak power output 3,6 times ten to the power of 24 W 20 000 tons cargo capacity 2 years worth of consumables
How much the speed got rid of all ships of this class most likely means that Venator had serious technical disadvantages. What is not surprisingly considering how quickly they were built.
no Sidious only got rid of them to purge all things related to Jedi as the venator was called the Jedi cruisers by the galaxy so he got rid of them they were very good ships and if empire kept them the rebellion would most likely had problems as the venator was very good against star fighters and would have made good star fighter defense cruisers at the least
@@topgun1457 If Venator was created for space battles, then Imperial is a tool for control over the conquered worlds. He is big, horrendous and can transport almost 4 times more infantry. Of course the air group from Imperial is much smaller, but that is, the causes. If the republic immediately received a huge number of trained clones of pilots and could quickly fill losses, the empire had to train their soldiers from scratch, which is difficult, expensive and not very effective. The same rebels completely quietly exchanged one of their fighter into two or three imperial. Therefore, aircraft carriers like Venator were practically useless for the Empire. However, even this is not a reason to write off thousands of star destroyers in the scrap. But once this is part of the canon, then for such actions there should be an important reason. And the technical disadvantages in combination with low quality assembly look much more convincingly than a certain connection with the Jedi about which almost no one remembered in Episode IV.
2:03 10 lightminutes are 1.2 au, which means that if a Venator was at the center of our solar system, it could hit a target that's roughly halfway between Earth and Mars. Yet they always prefer to fight at point blank range, lol.
That's true enough, @Wilhuff Tarkin , but likely they could only hit very LARGE targets at that range, and slow moving or hardly manoeuvring ones, like planets or asteroids. In the Clone Wars cartoon show, meanwhile, we never really see them engage beyond about 100 km away. And in Revenge of the Sith, they engaged in near point blank broadsides, whilst trying to locate and disable the ship with Palpatine aboard.
Depends on how fast the bolt itself is, which can vary rather dramatically. Although theortical effective range, and actusl practical range, are very different things even IRL. That, and it isn't as if hitting near-stationary targets like planets or such at such a range is particularly improbable or difficult. Its when targets can move that things become dicier.
The Venator didnt have any landing gear, so it was really hard for them to land on any planet surface. The Venators needed special docks to land on, like the ones they had on coruscant
@@bardedkgaming2529 well if it is was a controlled landing and not a crash landing yes, but even so the venator seems to stay in one peace even during crashes well if it belly lands idk about a nose in crash
I love the Venators and other Republic designs, as I am pro-Republic but anti-corrupt-bureaucracy, knowing about the corruption. I always think think that the Venator’s design is better than Imperial ones in many ways, it being a fighter bomber carrier, being more maneuverable, has great firepower, and it’s more impressive-look and more creative design. I also can’t help but find it funny that the AI can’t pronounce Coruscant right. It says “Corus-can’t” 😂
These are really cool and all. But in all honesty, this is nothing that we haven't already seen before. Take the cross-section of the Venator as seen here. It's the same as with the incredible cross section books. Like, sure, it's interesting to see that visualized in 3 dimensions, that certainly is something unique and amazing. But again, some of us hardcore Star Wars fans have seen it, albeit in 2D, but still. It's nothing directly... You know... New. But I guess that is how it is when speaking of making something as accurately and true to how it is as possible. There isn't really anything better to go off of than the incredible cross section books after all... God, would have been SO awesome to have an actual floor plan of some of these ships, wouldn't it? honestly had the empire kept the venator in service it likely would have beaten the rebellion a lot sooner because space battles for the rebels would have been nearly impossible as venators had the point defense to defend themselves from other fighters along with decent firepower to defend itself from other capital ships but the best part is its fighter compliment it would take the fighter complement of almost 6 ISDs to equal one venator as the ISDs carried 72 fighters and bombers where as the venator carried over 420+ fighters/bombers/landing craft so let the ISDs deal with the other capital ships while the venators and its fighter compliment deal with rebel fighters and boom the galactic civil war is over before Luke can Discover his own powers
All SW ships feature bridges in vulnerable positions (it´s sad, how crazy their placement is), with ST human ships closely following. The bridge, along with engineering section, should be the two most protected areas of the ship. But let´s put the bridge on top, so everyone can see it, target it and - if needed - destroy it.
In the empire this was actually intended. They wanted to show the enemy where the bridge is and where captain and admiral are positioned. Basically telling the enemy: "we are here and we don't fear you!"

ah CLAM ah ter
Except for the split-bridge, I think the Venator class is the best-looking Star Destroyer in canon.
It's a shame, that esing wasn't used further.
id take the 2 bridges over the 1 good looking T shaped piece of junk anyday cus it doesnt look ugly but it aint pretty and it is way more effective
Tbh I really like the look of the two bridges
I like the Resurgent Class too but the Venator is hard to beat.
I like it without the two bridges. Looks more uniformed in design with just the central trapezoid structure. Worth noting that the Venator is slightly longer than a Nimitz Class Aircraft Carrier. Also the LAAT and V22 Osprey are also the same length.
0:10 I’m sorry? What? Oh my lord, i am never calling Coruscant the same way again. Hahahaha
Another outstanding video...kudos my friend! Looking forward for the analysis and in depth description of the Death Star...Good job as always!

No problem buddy. Thanks 4 the videos.
5:51 is the scene I love with Venator's in combat
This was a beautiful capital ship.
Continue your job is Amazing
The first time I ever saw the Venator class was at the end of Attack of the Clones and at the beginning of Revenge of the Sith and at the end of said movie and they were shown a lot more on Star Wars:The Clone Wars t.v. series.
The ships in Episode 2 weren't venators, they were acclamators.
A later model of the venator had a smaller dorsal hanger door. The Venator used by Obi Wan to go the Utapau was one of those models.
According to latest canon materials, the ship had space for 192 v wings and 36 arc 170s but not 192 eta 2s, rather the 192 eta 2 and v wing space is the same storage space for both.
Just out of curiosity, where are you getting your information from?

Beautiful model. If only Revell could make a SnapTite Venator class like they did with the Imperial 2. I could imagine they'd sell like hot cakes.
That would be nice. After looking at the 3D models, I have to admit, these vessel are starting to grow on me.
Imagine if the rebellion had these with the laats and x wings
it would not be that great for them since Imperial class 1 and 2 star destroyers vastly outgunned and outcrewed and outmassed the venators.
Hitting a target at 180 billion kilometers is crazy! That's nearly half the distance between Earth and Mars.
Maybe do some videos of Separatist Alliance ships, and Rebel Alliance’s capital ships, and those in the Resistance?
The Best Space ship in entire series
I enjoy your videos. I appreciate you explaining the inside the ships.
you forgot to mention about the side cannons and the ground vehicle bay, but nice, i love that ship
There are a lot of thing I forgot, old age.
Great job!
Thanks for the visit
Very good video
5:00 Man, that's one big ass bolt holding the horizontal tube to the front of the spherical reactor.

Fun fact: the venator is modeled after the shape of a dagger
Isn't that so with Kuat ships in general.
So,the venator interior&exterior are finished, tomorrow,i will put here the link of Mediafire to the vídeo of the interior of that.
2:39 Thats not a Vanator-class Star Destroyer. Thats a acclamator class assault ship.
good spot
Totally an Acclamator.
Sorry but you are wrong ... The Acclamator doesn't have a ventral launch bay whereas the Venator does. The episode that clip came from shows that the Republic attack fleet is made up of both classes of ships. While the Acclamator does lead the attack the Venator is also in the mix.

@@Halfscreen No, thank you for your great content ;)
THESE ARE SOOO GOOD
I KNOW RIGHT
How much the speed got rid of all ships of this class most likely means that Venator had serious technical disadvantages.
Bet you could do a tour on a Separatists flagship that rivals the Venator, the Providence.
Request: Inside the Providence-class carrier/destroyer, aka the Separatist Dreadnaught.

@@Halfscreen Exactly! 😁 Leave no servo unanalyzed!
And in Revenge of the Sith, they engaged in near point blank broadsides, whilst trying to locate and disable the ship with Palpatine aboard.
hit a target 10 LIGHT MINUTES? Maybe so but it would take hundreds or thousands of years since those bolts aren't going the speed of light
Hmmmm...never thought about it before.
10 light minutes is 111769438 miles, which is definitely far, but I don't think it would take the bolt THAT long
@@dawsonthomas5514 Maybe a month.
Depends on how fast the bolt itself is, which can vary rather dramatically. Although theortical effective range, and actusl practical range, are very different things even IRL. That, and it isn't as if hitting near-stationary targets like planets or such at such a range is particularly improbable or difficult. Its when targets can move that things become dicier.
amazing video!
Thanks for the visit
my pleasure!
It's interesting to see how the ship designers didn't incorporate much in the way of crew space.
They probably did, but because the size of the ship is so large, its hardly noticeable.
also the Republic, at least at first, didn't really care if their clone crews were comfortable about anything.
@@wyatthamill6240 Yeah, they were just cockroaches to the republic..
Pretty sure the one with the dorsal hanger doors was a variant that didn't have the side and bottom hanger bays. Maybe I'm remembering that wrong.
Great video, but some of the reference videos were of an Acclamator class destroyer
The Venator didnt have any landing gear, so it was really hard for them to land on any planet surface. The Venators needed special docks to land on, like the ones they had on coruscant
but it could land if it had to, the ISD couldn't land at all because it was so heavy it would colaps.
@@bardedkgaming2529 well if it is was a controlled landing and not a crash landing yes, but even so the venator seems to stay in one peace even during crashes well if it belly lands idk about a nose in crash
Range of 10 light minutes is a 'lot'. Static target, sure. But a moving target is by definition seen where it was full ten minutes ago.
The venator may be smaller, but his highlight is the fact rhat can trnasport TONS OF SHIPS
You won a new sub. 👍🏻
Welcome aboard!
with the same ways of the VENATOR class ship is like the 1 star DESTOYER as it be helping out too,
I really love your videos, could you do an AT-M6 Walker next?
It really depend if I can get a hold of a 3D model.
Didn't know I was pronouncing 'coruscant' wrong. Guys it's “coruskant”, remember that.
That why I decided to abandon the robotic VO.
I have learned over the past few years to manually adjust the AI pronunciation of certain words correctly.
Great video, but what about accomodations, services, ammenities, etc.?
I've forgot to add in the accommodations.
I'll choose Venator over any other start ship. Wish I could see a ISD sized Venator.
XD
These animations are typically for people who don't really know these starships. I have to admit, the hardcore fans know more then me. 😁
@@Halfscreen Well, then I thank you for contributing more information about the lesser known stuff to the fans who don't know as much. ^^

honestly had the empire kept the venator in service it likely would have beaten the rebellion a lot sooner because space battles for the rebels would have been nearly impossible as venators had the point defense to defend themselves from other fighters along with decent firepower to defend itself from other capital ships but the best part is its fighter compliment it would take the fighter complement of almost 6 ISDs to equal one venator as the ISDs carried 72 fighters and bombers where as the venator carried over 420+ fighters/bombers/landing craft so let the ISDs deal with the other capital ships while the venators and its fighter compliment deal with rebel fighters and boom the galactic civil war is over before Luke can Discover his own powers
This video is not ackurate and misleading in many parts of the video but visuals are amazing

I was hoping to see what the average living quarters looked like for the average officer. Did it look more like a hotel room or a 1 bedroom apartment? Do I get my own bathroom with shower and kitchen? Do I have to share a room with someone? This would be important to me to decide if I was going to enlist in the Galactic Navy or work in Cargo or passenger ship! I need to have all the comforts and luxuries in space as I would on Coruscant!
Unfortunately, SW don't mentioned much about crew quarters or living conditions. These information aren't really mentioned.
I like to think that somewhere in the rebel alliance someone got a hold of one these and gave the Empire some trouble pirate/ privateer style.
I imagined the alliance probably found a couple but never actually deployed them in battle, ships like these are too rare and valuable to risk losing
