- It's been more than a year since I finished playing this game, but its impact on me lingers on. The music, in particular, is absolutely phenomenal, and I find myself frequently listening to the soundtrack. Amongst all the tracks, "Shadowlord" holds a special place in my heart. It masterfully combines elements that evoke a sense of religious significance, while simultaneously capturing the somber reality faced by the character it represents. I had previously created an English cover of the song, but this time, I wanted to venture into the realm of instrumental covers.
I also incorporated some of the other tracks from the game as well and mixed them in.

I see a Nier: Replicant in the title, I click. I was not disappointed. Shadowlord is a masterpiece in video game music. And this remix is pure perfection.
The use of all the different themes such as Kainé's, Yonah's and even the main theme was a lovely addition, using Snow in Summer and the music was dirty on the heartstings and I love it.
When I needed literally every other music channel to do this damn song they ignored it. Slept on it. White Chlorinated over tokyo on it. I have literally. Waited. Twelve. God. Damn. Years. For you. You have no idea what this means for me. You're the chosen one. The one to restore balance to the mixes I've WAITED FOR. I AM SO BLESSED BY YOUR PRESENCE. I KNEEL.

@@onemoregodrejected9369its Devola and Popolas Fault, they left Shadowlord waiting 1400 years, and lied to Replicant Nier over and over. Letting him gain so much power to defeat the shadowlord.
@@mcdee4890I'd say it goes back even further. Whomever flipped the 'emotion' switch for the replicants when the gestalt project was initialized. The project was always doomed to fail.
This is genuinely a masterpiece and is probably my favourite version of shadow Lord now :) !
Kaine and Brother Nier's themes melding together was beautiful
I'm confused.. Where does this "Brother Nier" theme come from? I haven't seen it anywhere else, yet it sounds so familiar
@@Nachachus it sounds similar to shadowlord's castle but keyed up to match shadowlord if that makes any sense. i just called it brother nier theme because he showed up on screen lol
@Nachachus it's the "Hills of the Raidant Winds" theme but made in a more orchestral and heroic fashion. I figured using the primary overworld theme as a stand-in for the main character made sense.
It all comes together perfectly. Great job. I love it.

Shadowlord is literally my favorite piece of soundtrack in any media ever and this gotta be the best version of it. Absolutely great.

@@astmusiccompositions394 the thing is, those Grimoires at the begining worked like Pact beasts trying to get a contract, and Gestalt Nier looks more like an angel than Shade or human.
I think what he formed at the begining was a Pact. The power to save his daughter, but in return, he fully gives into God's divine order. Had he succeeded, Noire would have probably turned humanity, once reborn, into those White disease soldiers created by Mother's disintegration.

This is my new favorite together with the Another Edit version of Shadowlord. The Another Edit version has a pure orchestra only section towards the end - I think that is a really impactful section, I'd have loved to hear it here towards the climax, as well.

Nah I didn't add the English Lyrics to this. I wanted this to be purely orchestral and true to the original with the vocals.

This is a masterpiece, just absolutely gorgeous. Despite already having goosebumps, when Kainé’s motif unexpectedly burst in my eyes watered a little due to how much she means to me as a character more than any other.
So, three things.
1: love the composition of this, and the integration of tracks like Yonah's theme and Kaine's and whatever that track was that plays with NieR. But most certainly the part where snow in the summer started playing. That gave me chills.
2: I find it kinda a shame that the video has spoilery visuals, since I feel this track (if ignoring the long buildup before action starts again when looped) would work well for a thing I am hosting, and the people who'd get to hear it aren't in the know of everything NieR related.
3: Random idea... but I wonder how an attempted combination between Shadowlord and Kuroi Uta would sound... or perhaps a DrakenNieR final boss medley of sorts. Just a personal thought. And perhaps an even more niche idea would be shadowlord... and Sealed Vessel from Hollow Knight.
Anyways, lovely remix. Very nicely made.
Yeah, that was precisely what I was afraid of when I put the visuals in there. I kind of was on the fence about it from the very start when I put it together. The reason I ultimately decided to add them though was that I figured it would be a good complementary part to the music for those who know Nier: Replicant and have played its game. I might make a non-visual version of it in the future for those who want to share it or whatever. But thank you so much! I'll take the mix ideas into consideration as well!
Also fun fact: Snow in Summer also plays in the organ several times in the piece though it's hidden. Specifically starting at 2:54 - 3:45 if you listen to just the church organ you can hear Snow in summer faintly. If you played the game you know precisely why I included it haha

Such a great cover! It catches feelings so well! Did you use any VST plugins for strings at the beginning? If you did, could you tell me what you used?
Thanks so much! So I used VST plug-ins for every instrument in the entire cover (except for the drum loop and vocals that were from the actual game rip). I used a program called "OPUS" which has extremely realistic sounding instruments. You can get a subscription for $19.99 a month at this link:

Where did you get the shadowlord artworks from? I'm struggling to find fanart of him 😭😭😭
My younger brother and a friend of mine helped design them. I then edited them in photoshop and extended the backgrounds (As well as fixed shadowlords hair).

Wait, are you referring to the Metallica song? I mean, I guess the drum beat is somewhat reminiscent of this, but melody wise, I feel it's more in line with some of the Drakengard 3 soundtrack.
