I had always noted the volume change at 2:15 on DSP2 but now checking the isolated channel and the visual wave length i can confirm it is not a thing of my brain. Thanks!
The ability of the snes to truly support sound samples was groundbreaking. Koji kondo really recorded one piano note, imported it and then used it as the musical voice for this whole track (minus the yoshi drums of course) - such a simple move but with such great implications for the 16-bit hardware’s potential.
Considering the Amiga was doing this same thing in 1985 with a typically higher sample rate, and that Nintendo farmed out to Sony to make the sound system, and that even the NES had some sampled playback capabilities, I would strongly argue that this was in no way "ground breaking"
@@AiOinc1 and yet, no iconic widely-loved soundtracks associated with the amiga. Groundbreaking is not only having the technology but the people who know how to use it to create something truly special. Also there’s a reason sound samples were few and far between on the NES, and that’s because they took up way too much cartridge space and sounded like dogshit. Technically supported but not at all feasible.
Eh, Yoshi drums doesn't have anything too deep. You can always get a spc700 player and a smw spc file, mute all channels and listen just to the yoshi drums.
Sure! But I think it's better if I do the entire soundtrack with just the Yoshi part in a single video instead (while keeping my deconstructions like this), right?
Request: could you deconstruct the PAL version of the Athletic theme? Would be very interesting to hear the differences between that one and the NTSC, played here.
Wow! I can’t believe how sour DSP 3 sounds by itself. I guess that’s just the composers talent at harmonizing. Thank you for this video!
The athletic theme is super iconic, i was glad to hear it again in Galaxy 2
DSP2 be like: I'm a Bass and also a Piano
wait, they used 2 samples??? (no yoshi)

For future SMW Deconstructions could you do a small bit where you deconstruct yoshi's add-on track by itself? I'd love to hear it seperated
