"Crab seasoning" is what you call Old Bay seasoning when you don't pay the McCormick spice company to license the name. It's a mix of celery salt, black pepper, crushed red pepper flakes, and paprika that's spread over crabs when you steam them.
Matthew Geer Herr’s Chips has the contract for ‘Old Bay’ seasoning.
I live on the Chesapeake Bay.
Tastes good on a lot of things especially chicken
So, it's basically, like, the crab version of pumpkin spice?
Your from Maryland too? Lol all they need now is a natty boh
Im from Murrland too
And Old Bay is our red crack that we put on every damn thing 😂😂😂
"It's not crispy."
"No, it's not!"
**Bites into the chip; the loud **_CRUNCH_** echoes around the room.**
O RLY.
The crab chips are meant for marylanders. We eat steamed crabs in the summer the the seasoning is what we put on top of of them. It's a regional thing in the United States it's supposed to taste like Old Bay seasoning.
dont forget about virginia
HELL YEEEAAAHHHH!!!
Old Bay is also a seasoning used in the gulf for shrimp.
If they added a beer it would be amazing
Yeah, I'm from Louisiana. Putting seasoning on top of the crab isn't not something I understand. LOL. We boil them in seasoned water along with corn and red potatoes, mushrooms, etc and the flavor gets in every crevice.
"It's not crispy"
"No it's not"
*Extremely loud crispy crunch*
Right lads, I was on an utz-high. I won’t really dip any man. Maybe a few men. We’ll see
MC: The Dip-Meister
You're gorgeous
Your the way cool one !!
He'd have to be very light to properly dip him. Although I suppose you could use a block and tackle. That could invite comparison with Catherine the Great and her horse, which you might not want to risk.
I VOLUNTEER AS TRIBUTE!
"Crab" flavor is just old Bay seasoning. But they can't say old Bay since it's another company.
Yep. And they're delicious!
Better written as crab "flavor."
Yup. Best flavor ever. Can't get them on the west coast so I just buy rippled chips and toss some Old Bay into the bag and shake.. Tastes like home....
123 456 you can order then on Amazon. Best flavor ever
Old Bay seasoning is just Mustard Seed, Salt and Celery Seed but they cant say that because people will just buy real spice..
Sarina is freaking priceless in her reactions, and differentiating of the crisp and crunch in the crisps.
My home state of Pennsylvania! Good chips....
I like Utz more overall but Middleswarth is the king of BBQ.
My home state also and I love UTZ
Gotta say, in Australia we've solved the chips/crisps nomenclature problem. Here they're just all chips. Hot chips, a packet of chips, steak and chips, fish and chips. It's all chips!!
*3rdWheel*
So you never have French Fries?!?!? What does it say on the menu at McDonald's? "Crisps" next to a picture of jagged cut fried potato sticks?
Nooo. They're saying that it says chips.
*NemesisKismet*
That's what I meant. Ignore me. I swear I haven't had a pint, but apparently I need one.
How about chips with chips
Spam, Spam, Spam, baked beans and Spam?
Utz is a local company. I was really surprised to see them on this channel. The " Chesapeake crab" is similar to our " Old Bay" it's a seasoning we put on top. Of the crabs before we steam them, NO BOIL! It does make the chip or crisp very salty. Thanks for grabbing something from the southern Pennsylvania and Maryland area.
They should’ve given them good old plain kettle cooked chips. They are delicious
Mary-Claire is drop dead Gorgeous in my opinion.
Couldn't agree more!! Think I got a shot?????
RobertJFishing agreed
Yep. Most of the women on these videos are hot
I agree most of the ladies are fine
Sarina is like a amazon princess
It’s not Crab Flavored! It’s Crab Seasoning!
Utz chips are a Maryland/Pennsylvania brand. They own some other brands like Zapp's and have started expanding into the south and west US but they're most visible along the East Coast. They're EVERYWHERE here in Maryland and let me tell you, kettle-cooked Utz chips are basically the best things ever.
I've tried Zapp's. Too crunchy.
They’re not a Maryland brand at all...
Herr’s is closer to the Maryland border than Utz, and neither is a Maryland brand.
SivakAurak Utz is an essential element of my childhood.
I do agree about the kettle cooked ones.
in my 27 years in the south I've never seen these chips before😂😂
Yoo Dabba Dabba we have them in South GA and they suck.
They're all at Dollar General.
Utz is huge in the Virginia/Maryland/DC region. I'd never seen them before moving here, I grew up in the west coast region. Chesapeake crab flavoring is on tons of snacks here, too. They're right, it doesn't taste like crab.
They’re in NY
Yoo Dabba Dabba They're down here. I'm in Conyers, but have lived all over GA & we buy them all the time. Every store. Lived here 30 years. I actually prefer the pretzels. The pretzels are delicious.
" Why do they call them chips and not crisps?" Because we invented them.
there is kind of a difference according to the FDA. Pringles for example are not legally allowed to call themsevles "potato chips" because they dont meet the FDA's requirements for being considered a "potato chip" so pringles are called "crisps"
we dont really say "crisps" over here though. any and all potato chips are just "chips" and fries are fries or french fries. we dont call fries chips over here.
We invented everything. Pretty much at least.
Love it! I lived near the Utz potato chip factory most my life, in 4th grade we actually took a field trip to the factory and they gave us freshly made bags along with our lunch and omg they were so good being fresh made. Im glad you all got to try them, especially the crab chips, being from Maryland where the chesapeak bay is located, crab seasoning aka old bay is the bomb!
I am a southerner and trust me on a baked potato with butter..o man old bay good on much more thrash just crabs i know other people do this. But man. Mmm
Irish People watch Archer!
"it's super up it's own hole about what flavour it is" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Clisare Congratulations!! Sorry, I know this is about crisps, but I'm so happy for you! 💕
Whenever Sarina and Martin are together it always looks like date night :) they look good together.
I can listen to them talk all day. Refreshing!
When they pulled out the crab chips, I felt such Maryland pride
Those looked Utz-standing.
...
Was that so hard Sean?!
I cant stop watching irish people try things...i dont know why, its just perfect...
Have the Try folks tried Zapp's Chips? If not, I would LOVE to send you several flavors, including my favorite, Voodoo!!!
Shame I didn't see your reply! I said the same thing!
Voodoo is so good... Can only find them at QT
the amount of asmr in this video is utz-tanding!
As a Maryland native (where the Chesapeake Bay is for those unsure about those crab chips/crisps) I thoroughly enjoyed seeing something made local here as branded as "American Chips". MARYLAND REPRESENT *MD Flag Emoji goes here*
Collin B MARYLAND!!!
CRAB CHIP!!!!!!!
Sav Mally The Bay is called the Chesapeake Bay and since your ancestors came here to steal land from the Natives that lived here as well as use it as the major port to bring in slaves from west Africa, you would assume any history book in The UK would teach you about this Bay. Why comment if you have nothing intelligent to say?
So, soo glad you guys are back!!!
I’m so glad they ate the crab seasoning chips lol, I love those. Of course my parents are from the Chesapeake Bay Area so I was raised with food that had Old Bay seasoning all over it (Old Bay is one of the more well known brand names of that seasoning). It is mostly for seasoning seafood like crabs and shrimp, but I think it is also delicious if you put it on Corn on the Cob
Big fan of M C. Keep her around.
Randy Hodges Samesies.
That's Sweet MC to you, sir. (See, MC, I'm still trying.)
They needed a few bags of Grandma Utz.
Vickie Sneed the best!
I was very sad to see they didn't have a bag of those. They are, by far, my favorite chip.
Laura Gossert, mine as well.
Martin looks like the personification of a warm bear hug from someone you love.
I'm insanely late because I just found this channel. That crab seasoning is Old Bay, and it's very much so loved in Maryland (on the east coast and borders Washington, D.C.). In Maryland we put that seasoning on lots of things, including crabs, Boardwalk Fries (another Maryland thing, and you'd call them chips), beef jerky, and even wings! Love the channel guys!
"Why do they call it chips if they're crisps?" Because they were first made in Saratoga Springs New York and were originally called Saratoga chips. When they were introduced to Ireland and the UK they changed it to crisps to avoid confusion with what we in the US call french fries and you all call chips.
lbsandroid2011 snap!!!!
Wrong they were invented by William Kitchener in the UK in 1817.
lbsandroid2011 Whoa whoa whoa... you and some of your people invented potato chips?!?! Y’all must be loaded by now, huh?
You should have tried Grandma Utz chips. They are cooked in lard and have a unique flavor.
Love Grandma Utz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
The best chips in the world!
One question wtf is an Utz I’m from Texas all we know is lays and Cheetos, am I missing out
You should've had the "Utz Kettle Classics Gournet Dark Russets." They go very well with plain sour cream as a dip. The *rich* russet flavor, light saltiness and sour cream go together very well.
Guy: "It's not crispy."
Girl: "No it's not." CRUNCH!!!!!!
Crab Chips are seasoned with Old Bay spice mix. It’s popular here in Maryland, US.
For a second we read that as "seasoned with Old Spice" and tbh that did not help
The TRY Channel that would taste atrocious
You're not a Marylander unless you put Old Bay on your Old Bay.
Kettle cooked Utz is all they should’ve sent you guys, that crunch...
Yeah, I was going to suggest they go for kettle cooked if they really wanted crunch.
Grandma's.......
I like hearing them say "flavoursome" because we only use "flavorful" in the US
I'm from Maryland, where the Utz chips specifically crab chips are made for the Maryland blue crab people. I can certainly understand you guys not liking it. But we love our crab cakes, and steamed Maryland blue crabs with old bay seasoning which is what's on the "chips", you can also put it on french fries "chips". They are amazing. But the plus side is you can only get Utz in our region of the east coast no where else. So the flavor aren't really made for anyone else but us. And we love them.
Utz are my favorite brand and salt and vinegar flavor. They seemed to prefer the thicker kettle chips.
The Crab chips are seasoned with generic Old Bay seasoning. I think five guys even offers it on their fries as Cajun seasoning.
Crab seasoning is the spice that is put on crabs in Maryland (where the Chesapeake Bay is). They aren't meant to actually taste like seafood. It's like Pumpkin Spice foods taste like the spice used for cooking pumpkins but aren't pumpkin. They're spice flavored.
Maryland blue shell crabs steamed with old bay seasoning is to die for!! And Utz chips are fantastic.
Just about everyone of these videos start with "I'm hung over" . Love it
I love Utz, salt and pepper is my favorite flavor then come salt and vinegar
The girl on the bag is named Sally. ‘Tis true. Named after the founder’s wife. Or daughter. I forget. Anyhow, Old Bay chips rock.
So happy to see you all again! That’s the facts.
Im from PA and these chips are a hometown favorite. Made in Hanover, just over the border from Baltimore. The crab seasoning chips don't taste like crab. It's old bay seasoning which we use on steamed crabs and in crab cakes. Fun to see them in your video!
Pennsylvania!!! You can tour their factory and get fresh made bags lol. But I have to say... All those chips and you didn't try Grandma Utz. They're fried in lard. Cmon Ireland!!!
Surprised they had UTZ, would love to see them try some Bickles or Martins
@@Adalwolf17 I would have said Middleswarth and Martin's.
@@stanklepoot Forgot about that one lol
The number of really good chip brands there are in about a 15 mile radius in south central PA is pretty amazing.
Utz is manufactured about 45 minutes from where I live. I'm so proud... they are the best chips, I think.
Also, FYI... Utz was founded in 1921 by William and Sallie Utz... so that hard to pronounce word was someone's last name. 😊😊
FireCracker3240 the UTZ factory is 10 minutes from my house, i always go up there to get the prototype chips
That Sarina is scalding hot! 😍 she does a great eyeliner wing too.
UTZ is from Hanover, Pa. Love that shit here in Maryland. I grew up on this shit!
I live in the States. WTF is an UTZ? Must be regional.
It’s pretty east coast, but it’s spreading.
DollarTree has them even when they're available nowhere else in an area..
they're available out here in the middle also.
*Bob Bush*
I've seen them here on the East Coast, but can't recall the last time I did.
*jadzilah*
That's disturbing. Nowhere else in your area has them, but you can find them at a DollarTree store? I wonder how old they are...
Now it's 4am and I want lots of potato chips. Thanks, Try!
How about "Irish People Cook Breakfast"? Everybody seems so super-excited when they try food, so I'm a little concerned that nobody actually knows how to cook for themselves.
We have Utz in our msrket/G-store. The last one is seasoning we put on steamed blue crabs. Loved the crab mocking LOL
How can Sarina not like carolina bbq but like salt and vinegar?
D Kelly it’s baffling. Carolina BBQ utz are like 80% vinegar flavor
I am going to adopt the ferocious crisp eating style now.
Also. “Thanks bag!”
Love a good, polite bag!
Crab chips are flavored with Old Bay seasoning, which we use when we boil blue crabs
Stephanie Bowman We Steam our Crabs in Md. With beer sometimes
I live in MD too. I love them steamed in beer and covered in Old Bay..so yumm
I love the taste of crabs, but I so do hate picking those fuckers. Also from MD.
Oh I so agree. SO much work, but it tastes so good I try to overlook the work part
YES! Utz Chips from Hanover, PA. The crab chips are actually crab seasoning flavored, not crab flavored. They taste a lot like Old Bay. Grew up with these and I'm so happy they got to try them! One of my friends lives in Colorado and always has me bring her the Utz Crab Chips and Tastycakes when I come visit!
How can you not be happy when it's an M.C. episode?
Next time, Irish people should try the Utz barrels of snacks. There's the gourmet caramel popcorn and cheese balls but they also have the Party Mix, Pub Mix, and Poker Mix!
I love the cheese balls.
The cheese balls and the Pub Mix are my favorites.
I like Utz. I also like Herr's. But the best potato chip I've ever tasted in my life is the old-school Kay & Ray's from when I was a kid, long before Martin's bought them out (the potato roll company). The old bags of chips would only list 3 ingredients, potatoes, lard, and salt. And they are the standard to which I hold every potato chip. Of course each of those companies (and nearly every pretzel manufacturer in the US), is located in central Pennsylvania (right around Lancaster county).
What in gods name is herr's????
Why would you start them with the best chip flavour? Salt and vinegar is the best flavour, and kettle cooked (sea) salt and malt vinegar is the best version of salt and vinegar chips...
taj1994 that’s a stone cold fact.
I've tried every flavor my local market carries, and they're all decent, BUT the "Kettle Classic" style is ALWAYS better than their other styles.
I’m from Canada and we have Miss Vickie’s, do you guys have em too or just us?
@@viktoriatacan5547 Though I've never ever seen them, I checked on line and they seem readily available all over the States.
Woah now. Barbecue is the best flavor.
It's Old Bay Seasoning, and it's amazing on french fries as well.
Love Utz, should of had Grandma Utz! I like them all but the kettle cooked are the best!
You should have gotten chips from different states or brands.
Still great video! Love this new channel :)
I'm an American, never heard of this brand in my entire life! Sounds interesting!
🎼☺💙🦋🐾🐈
Utz is based in PA so they're a regional brand in the east coast states usually outselling Lays by a good margin here.
What? You're not American then..
the utz factory is in my town and they are so so much better than lays
Gotta be on the east coast maybe.
I could eat sarina like a bag of crisps 🤭
I remember when Jillian sent you these chips! Glad to see the video pop up today 😊 looking forward to seeing more fan packages on the channel!
There's SO MANY it's wonderful
The TRY Channel thanks for the exclusive behind the scenes photos posted in the official fan group today! 😍😍😍
Why do we call them chips? WHY DO YOU CALL 'EM CRISPS, EH??
I'm pretty sure they're called chips because they were originally called "chipped potatoes," or some bollocks like that. Chips and crisps are both viable names.
Cookies, however, ARE NOT BISCUITS. Biscuits are fluffy, magical things and you shall never sully their name.
Being that they were first invented and popularized in the US then the American name is the correct name. So to the Brits out there the proper name is potato chips not crisps.
They call them crisps because chipped potatoes in England were already a thing. 1920s
@@krustyh00ker The potato chip was invented in 1853 by George Crum. Crum was a Native American/African American chef at the Moon Lake Lodge resort in Saratoga Springs, New York, USA. French fries were popular at the restaurant and one day a diner complained that the fries were too thick. Although Crum made a thinner batch, the customer was still unsatisfied. Crum finally made fries that were too thin to eat with a fork, hoping to annoy the extremely fussy customer. The customer, surprisingly enough, was happy - and potato chips were invented!
Crum's chips were originally called Saratoga Chips and potato crunches. They were soon packaged and sold in New England - Crum later opened his own restaurant.
William Tappendon manufactured and marketed the chips in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1895. In the 1920s, the salesman Herman Lay sold potato chips to the southern USA (selling the chips from the trunk of his car). In 1926, Laura Scudder (who owned a potato chip factory in Monterey Park, California) invented a wax paper potato chip bag to keep the chips fresh and crunchy - this made potato chips even more popular.
There's always the one...
@@krustyh00ker Which is after 1853. When they were invented. In the Us... With the name of chips.
the regular utz chips with the french onion dip >
i prefer the Heluva Good Bacon Horseradish dip. MMMM!
Utz is a Hanover Pennsylvania Potato Chip company regional to that area. They call it the Crab chip because all Marylanders use the seasoning that is on these chips, to season the Chesapeake Blue Crab, which is Old Bay, which is another Maryland item, merketed by The McCormick Spice Company based out of Baltimore MD
Utz are from Pennsylvania. You're welcome.
Lays are bags of grease.
Try the Utz pretzels with a pint. Thank me later.
katyas mom it’s a bag of potato chips! It doesn’t come rapped in spinach or broccoli! There’s nothing healthy about any of them. I guess Utz’s are fried in air?
They should have given them a bag of Middleswarth Kettle Cooked BBQ.
Snyder's pretzels are better than Utz.
katyas mom .... haha, lays are my favorite, thin, crispy and greasy
Utz cheese balls are the bomb!
Sarina 😍
To quote herself - 'Oh my God YES!'
Well said. She so smart and pretty *swoon*
Cans!
I don't know if it's the lighting or if she has a natural tan now but she looks so much better now than she did when she was on facts.
What is her ethnic background, besides Irish
those was wondering about why the bag half-full or half-empty depending on which way you look at it it's in transit when they fill them at the plant basically they vacuum sealed the bags so In Transit they basically tend to settle it's like that with any kind of vacuum packed product
I miss Utz. They don't have them in Florida that I've seen. The best chips are Chesapeake Crab Seasoning because that's the seasoning we put on our crabs, potatoes and corn on the cob boils. You cook it all together and roll out the newspaper and everyone comes over for a crab feast. That's how we do it in Virginia. Boy I miss that. Fun times.
Damn sarina is gorgeous!
Jumpshot 2016 - I love how she looked when she said, "Open, you piece of shit."
Jumpshot 2016 beautiful lady! Wicked laugh very lovely!
I missed you guys
Lmao I died when they said crab flavored chips! I'm from the Chesapeake area so they're pretty popular here it's just old Bay seasoning but it's not for everyone 😂
o i love this video the carolina bbq and chesapeake bay chips are my fav. country boy from North carolina that's lived near the chesapeake bay in virginia is awesome also being part irish these videos was fun to watch.
"I didnt even know people ate crabs, i just kick them at the beach"
😂
I like big Utz and I cannot lie.
Chesapeake Bay Crab chips! YESSSSSSS! Old Bay Seasoning is so wonderful. I buy cans of it in bulk because it's not as known here in the Pacific Northwest as it is on the East Coast of the United States. Just watching them eat those chips made my saliva glands start watering. Damn, I love that seasoning.
Utz is definitely a regional chip. I didn’t try them until I moved to the N. Virginia/DC area. I can see how the crab seasoning(Old Bay) wouldn’t translate, but living a stones throw from, and having spent a fair amount of time in Maryland, I understand the local obsession.
Ahhhh, Mary Claire again, such a lovely tall willowy lass, one of my favorites, so sorry yer fookin' starved, dear, eat up. And Sarina, m' lil lotus blossom, lovely as ever. Good video, and yeah, Utz are an east coast thang, have them here in South Carolina.
I gotta try and send y’all some Cape Cod kettle chips, best chip in the game IMO
Love those!
You guys should get Zapps chips. They're from new Orleans and are AMAZING. Voodoo flavour is my favourite
The gold cans were Charles Chips. They delivered cookies, chips, and pretzels back in the day. I like Utz, but my chip indulgence is Martin's, also from Pa.
UTZ Crab chips are the best, yo
Excuse ME!!! UTZ is a very old Pennsylvania Dutch surname. Just like: Yoder, Gladfelter, Stoltzfus, and Peachey.
My grandfather was a Glatfelter! Descended from the York, Pa Glatfelters.
Theresa Smith ahh Jesus the smell of that pulp wood mill in Spring Grove!
I love crab chips!!!! Its old bay seasoning, which is huge seasoning in Maryland.
Utz has fantastic caramel corn. I moved from the east coast to the west and order a case of the barrels every so often when I can get a deal on the shipping!
I'd like to eat Sarina's chip.
No! No! No! No! No! Sour Cream and Onion Utz are goddamn crack in a bag. I’ve eaten wayyyy more bags of chips/crisps than I should’ve and those Utz are THE best.
Miranda Hester you're not lying. Yummmmmmmmm.
iammumawaldi it made my life when I found a more ‘single serving’ bag at my grocery store. Let me have them without worrying that I was going to devour a whole bag in a sitting.
The plain ridges are the best with dip
They are the literal “betcha can’t eat just one” chip.
breea07 I’ve literally eaten at least a dozen of the big bags in almost single sittings, by myself. It’s why I can’t buy them anymore unless they’re in the single serving-ish bag.
Its crazy seeing them eat Utz chips. They are from my PA, my home state. A great local chip that you cant find anywhere other than PA is Middleswarth. Same with Tastykake cupcakes. They are so hard to find outside of PA.
They Add a Puff of Air into each Bag and only fill halfway to keep the chips from Breaking during shipping and Handling.
You need a bag of all dressed chips from the Great White North. Probably in another video. :P
badnewsBH Yes! I noticed they started selling those in Ohio, and they go pretty damn good with beer. They need to keep migrating south to Georgia 😀
Canada is weird when it comes to chips. They have all dressed, which are great. The poutine chips are also solid.
But then you have ketchup, bacon, maple bacon, smoked bacon, sour cream and bacon, fries and gravy, chili and chocolate, scalloped potatoes, MAPLE MOOSE?! - ketchup doritos, DILL DORITOS WHY?!??
@@kaldo_kaldo Some of those experimental flavours were gross! Sour cream and bacon, however, are numero uno.
Love me some all dressed. They started selling the ruffles ones and brought back the ketchup ones in PA a year or so ago
Try Canadian chips nxt it would be cool!!
Great idea! Any suggestions? 😊
Old Dutch brand Ketchup, All Dressed, Roast Chicken and Bacon flavours!
Adam Binder don't forget Hawkins cheezies
Dill pickle chips! Very Canadian
All great flavours for sure.
You can tell Utz is a Mid-Atlantic regional thing, because freaking crab chips. (As to what flavor "crab" is, well, it's basically Old Bay seafood seasoning. Which is the kind we use on pretty much everything here, but particularly steamed blue crabs.)
These chips are made in Hanover, PA and are the best chip in America, hands down. I grew up in Maryland and UTZS had a very small distribution area. I like the regular smooth chips and bbq is my favorite. I moved to Florida and can not buy them in the grocery stores here. Miss them so much. The dollar store in my area of Florida just started carrying the small bags in October.
