Great vid from a great series backed with a brillant and appropriate song..This is obviously not meant for an english speaking market and it is good to think that this show is reaching a really wide audience but the one thing that makes the overdubbing of Michael Praeds voice forgivable in the slightest is that you can still hear the original. . Michael is a singer aswell as an actor and was chosen to narrate BBC Timewatch because quite frankly the man could read a telephone directory and sound sexy. Perhaps in this particular case subtitles would have been a more appropriate choice. Our non english speaking freinds would then have the full benefit of Michaels beautiful voice and those of us who speak english could have had the same.
Agreed, he has a beautiful voice and beautiful enunciation. Only thing is, his voice sounds (sounded) slightly "stagey"/theatrical on the show, not always that natural. He was trained on the stage and went back to the stage after Robin. Would have loved to hear him sing, but I only discovered him and the show this year, and he's already an old man.
I always thought it odd that though Locksley was a Saxon, a Celtic family was chosen for his theme. Still, that's the way things were before the bastard Norman Cockneys came down on us all in 1066 with their hate that continues to this day. Had Godwinson's men won the day at Senlac, the British Empire would have been a kinder thing and all the peoples of our isles lived better.
It's impossible to predict how different the world would be today if the Normans had lost. Their victory definitely impacted greatly on history. I'm very doubtful if conditions would have actually still led to a British Empire existing at all.
