Mahal and overrated.. well atleast for a Pinoy like me. But if I want to have a date I'm sure Hapag is one of that place for a dinner date with your special one who likes Pinoy food.
Erwan has a wider knowledge of Filipino food than most of us. He can talk lots of authentic local dish and many ingredients just like the many islands the Philippines is made of.
he is so curious that he became more knowledgeable to the filipino cuisine, its origin and cultural significance.. erwan does not just feature filipino dishes..he showcases history and culture
Erwan is literally lecturing. Love how he speaks very substantial, really makes you want to listen to him. Same to Jessica. I love everything abt this vlog. YOU REALLY DID A VERY GOOD JOB JESSICA! proud of you❤❤❤❤
Erwan was correct. We need to accept that the average (usual) filipino food will not live up to the international palate. We need to identify what makes us unique and market it as something fun and world class. Let us support young and talented chefs!
Exactly, the problem is people love to gatekeep the standard food that we used to eat, if someone put ginger to an adobo, one for sure in the comment will pick it out saying adobo don't have ginger.
It should served the food properly to make it internationally as he said. Hapag is doing it, they should have this kind of restaurant in other countries.
Nah. It's been tried many times and failed. They go in the direction of trend of which we all know is not sustainable. Palitan ang itsura pero wag palitan ang lasa. Sa ibang bansa kahit ano pa gawin sa pagkain authenticity pa rin ang habol ng mga tao. People flock to trendy restaurants but in the end true foodies will clamor for authenticity. Kadalasan kasi mga tao pakiramdam nila alam ang tamang pagluto ng pagkaing Pilipino when in reality mali luto nila, tulad ng pakbet ng Norte. Stop reinventing Pilipino dishes, lumalayo na sa original recipes.
I'm sure Jessica is super KILIG while doing this content 😊 She has mentioned on some of her earlier vlogs how Erwan is one of her favorite content creator.
I’ve talked about this to my fellow Filipino friend that something we both agreed. That why Filipino food didn’t make up globally because it has authenticity and quality. The main drawback is the native ingredients and freshness that has to be from the Philippines. Our ingredients has genetic component coupled with the unique agro-climatic condition that help bring about its superior fruit and vegetable quality.
Erwan showed how experienced he is in the Filipino food culture and I love the fact that Jessica naturally showed her own interesting observations and knowledge about it. *penguin claps for you, Jessica. You did excellent here. I'm a fan.
Is it just me or this is by far the most “organized” vlog of Jessica? Like walang nangyari technical difficulties etc hahaha. Happy to see Jessica slowly getting collab with other RUclipsrs :)
Gosh I’m Filipino but I still need to learn more about our cuisines. This is really educational. Erwan is really good in explaining and describing the different diversity of our food. I’m definitely going to visit that resto for the experience when I go back home. Thanks Jessica and Erwan 👍
How ironic they're throwing stones to Erwan, questioning his credibility on giving education about Filipino food, culture, and heritage while most of us would prefer western culture and food, and just taking ours for granted. LMAO.
@@thebookreader287 I'd love to. Is there any link that you could send out? And yes, there are a lot of better materials to access when it comes to deeper stuff about our country and even Erwan would agree to that. Pero not everyone is to reading, and would prefer accessing it on a better medium like these vlogs that we're sharing together now.
erwan and jessica tandem is so cool, they have both represented well, each and everyone's culture in their respective blogs. i admire jessica on her skills, so natural, erwan gravitated to her down to earth demeanor. more collabs in the future please :D
Okay.. can we all agree how this lady who made a series about a mural project on a public wall is now living the time of her life? Like, she's doing what she wants.. and now being recognized by other bigger personalities/channels.. she's a definition of never giving up is worth it.. not saying this is her dream, but I'm sure this is what she enjoys doing for now.. she's always cute and feels genuine in all her videos.. the best thing is she's not acting stupid or childish in all her content.. in fact, her's is more like informative most of the time.. and back then, she's still able to reply and react on almost every comment.. So i guess, that's the downside if your channel grow..your interaction to your audience will be limited..but atleast your content doesn't disappoints..so i think it counts as a form of appreciation to your followers/supporters/ subscribers and audience.. You're still far ahead.. but you've come really far from where you started.. road to 1M is not that far away anymore..☺️
Erwan and Jess are like two cool college professors discussing a topic they've been researching.. serious, focused, knowledgeable and, more importantly, having fun while doing it.
Salute to Erwan for embracing Filipino cuisine his passion for Filipino food is obvious. He is really promoting local cuisine. Thank you Jessica for this awesome collab!
Erwan’s right. According to one of our course readings during college (I’m not 100% sure if it’s by Nick Joaquin or by Cesar Adib Majul), Spanish historians recalled being invited by a rajah to eat with them during a festival. One of the foods served is a sour soup or sinigang in modern years.
HAPAG should definitely venture out of the country & to showcase what the Filipino food has to offer. One of the best presentation I have seen so far. This makes me want to book a flight to MNL just to eat in Hapag with my loved ones! 😍 Jessica representing the Chicken Inasal & Erwan loving the Batuan, my Negrosanon heart is pumping 💘 When Erwan visited Bacolod, he mentioned that he will definitely return to BCD just for the Cansi 🍲
I love the variety and how versatile the concepts of Jessica's vlogs are. Whether it's about culture, daily life, food, or traveling, it gives you the tendency to binge-watch her videos.
I didn’t expect this collab , but I’m glad Jessica did one with Erwan! Your contents are getting better and better. I’ve been a fan since you were in highschool. I’m so happy how your channel has grown and reach so much people. Thank you for loving the Philippines.
This is a good way to educate Filipinos of how diverse our food and culture is. I myself didn't know about few of those food and I agree that we should also be open to try something new.
When I was involved in a research project on indigenous knowledge, it became my understanding that no one could tell an indigenous people's (IP) story/history but the people themselves. But hearing this conversation with the in-depth observations from you and Erwan has made me realize that I was mistaken, and that the outsider's point of view is also rich with insights that an insider may find too mundane. This was a beautiful conversation about food.
I really love how well you can pull off different kinds of conversations with different kinds of people, Jessica. It shows how passionate you are in every thing that you do. Hoping for more collab vids with content creators like Erwan/FEATR! 😁❤️ Would love to try dining in Hapag MNL in this lifetime. 😋👍
Great choice of name "HAPAG" like hapag kainan (mesa or table) or hapag lutuan (kusina or kitchen) great food made chef' y, our food ingredients are eaten all over the world they just didn't know it, we're one of the main sources of the ancient spice trade, chili & pepper didn't grow in India or Korea naturally these are arid land or cold for Korea, the Chinese, Indian & the Arabs are the main collectors of this ingredients then spread and traded it all over the known world then, It's the reason as well why the European invaded southeast Asia then this ingredients spread out further through the Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch & the English so most of the ingredients loved all over the world are not native to their country they just think it is, the most potent once are located near the equatorial area not near the north, south pole or the desert, I would say Asian food can't be beaten ever you'll just end up eating what's already yours ignorantly FYI. these Spice Trade caused a lot of death & destruction in the past from the European but that's another story 😁👍👌😎✌.
Awesome collaboration. In the US, Filipino foods are getting more recognized now. Mostly in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco area. In fact, some of them are top restaurants in New York, LA as well as nationally. I believe that it’s just a matter of time before Filipino foods becomes as popular fare as other South East Asian countries. 👍🏼❤️
I like the energy of Jessica and erwan Complimenting each other, Jessica being the "still learning" and shy culture student and erwan being the educator and vocal but formal Guy XD
To be honest, I was born in the Philippines and am full blooded Filipino. However, ever since I moved to the states at a very young age (6 y/o), although I speak fluently and eat all Filipino food, I consider Jessica and some other foreigners more filipino than me because they know the culture and do their research about the country. Some foreigners have been to parts of the Philippines I've never been or heard of, and tried foods I've only heard about by other people. To them, I give much respect for not only trying BUT also taking time to research and learn about the culture.
I like what they are showing the diversity of Filipino Cuisine and the idea that Filipino cuisine be presented Internationally, but I like itmore to presented in Traditional in Presentation. That itself is also part of Culture.
Daaang. Some of the foods here are done by Molecular Gastronomy methods. Molecular Gastronomy is a masterpiece talaga. As a culinary arts major, this brings me so much joy and excitement, these are like a peek at the path I chose. haha! So much for me to learn and explore about food. More food vlogs to comeee!! 🤤❤
Im very impressed how you remained calm and composed.. i mean Erwan is huge celebrity in the Philippines, youre into one great opportunity to even sit beside him
The video is so informative, I liked what erwan said about not caring about the labels and just trying new things, I think a misconception we commonly get is that when we see something that's made like in a new way or something we're not familiar with, our common response would be that oh that's not supposed to be how it's made, or it's not traditional anymore or the essence of that something is not preserved anymore, it's not going to taste like how it's supposed to taste etc etc because it was done/made in a different way, but there's no harm in trying things that were made differently, this can be a step towards innovation, in terms of food, I don't see anything wrong with traditional foods being made and presented in a different way, as long as it was done with utmost respect and with good intentions.
Where I live in Vienna Austria, they have filipino-fusion kitchen. Also meaning they offer vegan sisig, vegan caldereta, etc.. If we take Europe for example, the focus is more on having a healthy and environmental-friendly lifestyle. Restaurants have to accommodate the cooking-styles to reach broad range of costumers. Ps: I really love your videos, super insightful!
I love this dou, kuya erwan and jessica really click together when it comes to Filipino foods. I admire these two for always love and respect our Filipino culture . A Filipino heart has always been there, thank you so much🤗❤
i love this video, jessica! your conversations about filipino food are so insightful! i learned so much from this even if i thought i already knew a lot about filipino cuisine. i hope to see more videos like this from you ❤
It was just so applausable and amazing how Erwan really knows the diversity and history of our cuisine and culture. Kudos! Thanks ate Jes for this wonderful content. I am so enlightened and gutooooommmm. Sobrang nakakagutom. 🤣😂🤣
In the US, it took a very long time for Filipino food to become mainstream. Personally I think Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations feature of the Philippines really opened it up, followed by Andrew Zimmern and other features from the Food Network channel later on. Travel and Leisure magazine also rated the beach resorts in Cebu and Palawan top 10 destination in the world which brought more exposure to the country in general. Lastly travel vlogs from many foreigners vacationing in the Philippines have spiked content about the Philippines globally. Erwan's content was well presented very pro and I love Jessica's vlogs, she has that young energy and vibe plus the fact that she is Korean who grew up partially in the Philippines has been particularly interesting an quite refreshing. Keep up the awesome work we love it!
This is so worth the wait Jessica a very informative content. Just when i thought i knew everything and this comes out, Thank you for sharing this and doing a colab with Erwan is soooooo cool 🤗🤗🤗
so refreshing to watch jessica getting amazed, with the brilliance and eloquence of erwan cant help looking at jessica's reaction every single time...hahahahahaha i would love to tease them but unfortunately its far fetch, erwan is like an oppa, stoic and brilliant and jessica is the shy and curios yeodongsaeng ( i have to google it )...but i would love to see both doing more collab and take us to wherever

I love how simple, organized & informative this vlog is! Its also making me proud to see two people who arent pure filipino but loving so much our country! This is a wake up call to us filipinos how beautiful and diverse our food is! Really nice vlogs ♥️ thank you jessica for loving ph ♥️♥️♥️
I am a big fond of FEATR bec Erwan knows how to dig up a lot of long lost or obscure filipino dish. We actually have a very diverse cuisine but people only knew sisig, sinigang, adobo and the tomato based stews like menudo afritada etc etc. But there are a lot of indigenous dish like in the province of cordillera, they have pinikpikan and diningdeng which is free of any colonial influence. Also the cusine of the mindanao which is very related to indian/arab cuisine. There is this stuffed turkey he featured pavo embuchado which I'm surprised bec my aunt knows how to make it and not everybody knows that dish. Also there's soup with burnt coconut husk he featured too which originates in the southern part of the archipelago.
👏👏 so happy with new videos lately! Here you can see there is a different vibe with Jessica in the Philippines. The food looks delicious and I would want to taste the different regional flavors! 😋
i forgot the name of the business lady owner in new york i think...she said for her filipino food is authentic as long as you use the natural ingredients(no powder stuff, so shortcut)...whatever style you choose as long as the ingredients are all natural and filipino
1st time to comment here 😄 Ate Jessica I've been watching ur vlogs Ate, ur amazing and this episode really one of my favorite, the food presentation wow! of course with the amazing videography skills u have, and it really has a good content, Ive learned some new informations about the filipino foods while u were talking with Sir Erwan, Mabuhay!🤙 Ate Jessica
Ate Jessicaaa, how do you always manage to make your videos soooo engaging? I felt like I'm actually sitting in there and enjoying the food while listening to you guys talking 😆
And also Corn rice (Mais na Bigas) - it goes perfectly with Sabaw (Soup base Ulam like Tinola sa Malunggay with Lemon Grass) its a very classic menu or food down south! Of course, it is best eating it with Kinamot Style (eating with hands)😋😋
Next week: Lots of vloggers will be here. Lol! Good content Jessica & always nice to see Erwan in these types of videos. Keep up the great work, both of you. :)
I love the way some of the foods came from negros, people coming from different regions always has a positive feedback about our food, as a local here i never thought in the way that other people coming from different regions telling that the food here is very good especially the chicken inasal, cause i grow up in here ever since😅
i love learning and digging deeper into different topics and filipino cuisine sure was an interesting one. and the way ate jessica and erwan talked about it was very engaging and didn't bore me at all. super enjoyed this vlog
At 4:04, Erwan just finished talking about Filipino food and culture in depth and in all seriousness and Jessica was like.. "Interesting! Do they have alcohol here!?" 😆😆😆 it's just so funny to me hahaha
I always say growing up in America, Filipinos need to stop thinking “Filipino” and think in the mindset of western foreigners. When I look for Filipino food it is mostly presented as turo turo. We need more upper class Filipino restaurants. JESSICA I am impressed with the new editing style of the video
Archipelago in Seattle and Sampa in Los Angeles have similar elevated experimental Filipino multi course dining. Hopefully you can check them out in the states!
actually macapuno is the "niyog" that is all coconut meat and has no water... they say its a mutation of the usual niyog, before its quite rare to get even one but now its more common because of modern propagation techniques.
Hoping you can visit moi place too, like me i am a kapangpangan. Hoping you may try our own delicasies and places too. God bless also,i always watching all your vlogs,my favorate is when your friend trying going 1st in devesoria its so intense and excitement, glad you enjoy staying here in philippines congrats...more vlogs pamore and adventure too.🥰🥰
I feel like talking to Filipino friends, it’s this lack of confidence to show Filipino food to the public outside of the Filipino community. I feel this as a Cambodian because every Cambodian I know who is a generation above me, always says “maybe they can’t eat our food” and as a result I wonder if Filipinos of an older generation share this mentality. It’s up to us younger to promote it.
Off topic im filipino but my fave cuisine is khmer and ima slaughter the spellings but salor maju yuon, loklak, numpachok, prohok etc etc fil dishes are bland compared to khmer dishes no shade no emotion just my personal preference
I don't know but whenever I see erwan in a vlog, I feel like the vlog is so sosyal! Nice one you got there Jessica!
Keep up the awesome work we love it!
loving this episode . looking forward for more collab and travel vlogs!
So happy to see foreigners (with a Filipino heart) showcasing our culture.
Wow I love this content More Pls. ❤️❤️❤️
yes macapuno is a different variety of coconut, it has a gooey water and very soft flesh.. it is usually full, hence the name macapuno, puno = full
This is so worth the wait Jessica a very informative content. Just when i thought i knew everything and this comes out, Thank you for sharing this and doing a colab with Erwan is soooooo cool 🤗🤗🤗
so refreshing to watch jessica getting amazed, with the brilliance and eloquence of erwan cant help looking at jessica's reaction every single time...hahahahahaha i would love to tease them but unfortunately its far fetch, erwan is like an oppa, stoic and brilliant and jessica is the shy and curios yeodongsaeng ( i have to google it )...but i would love to see both doing more collab and take us to wherever
funny cause she called him a tito in their collab video on FEATR’s yt channel. They’re such a nice duo. I could listen to them just talking for hours
@@hipearie i think its a culture in korea to vibe only to people in your age range based on what i watch in one of jessica's vlog but undeniably you can see her getting giddy and amazed of erwans mastery on food knowledge
more Filipino food vloggers colab pls... :)
i think this is a stepping stone for Jessica to have more formal food vlogs in near future
a collab i didn't know i needed!!! please do more collabs in the future!!! you guys have such a good chemistry!!! like tito and pamangkin 😝 kidding aside, i love this so much!!!
I always loved how articulate Jessica is to her contents. Like always informative and fun to watch! 🙌🏻♥️✨
I really love when you put the subtitles because i can learn and enjoy your video thanks 🥹💗
What a great collab! So happy to see you in Featr’s channel too! And look at those food!! They all looked delish!!
This was amazing! You're really getting better at hosting. Thank you Jessica for introducing yet another great restaurant!
More collab with Erwan/FEATR pleaseeee.... I'm really a big fan of your channel and FEATR.
In samar we also use batwan or kamias mostly with soup dishes or even paksiw
And also Corn rice (Mais na Bigas) - it goes perfectly with Sabaw (Soup base Ulam like Tinola sa Malunggay with Lemon Grass) its a very classic menu or food down south! Of course, it is best eating it with Kinamot Style (eating with hands)😋😋
Next week: Lots of vloggers will be here. Lol! Good content Jessica & always nice to see Erwan in these types of videos. Keep up the great work, both of you. :)
Jessica has really blessed us these last few days with her videos.
Totally agree with Erwan's three choices of food that represents the Philippines. I will add Crispy Pata and Adobo as a bonus to the list
Can’t wait to try them. Looks so unique.
very informative. i think its not also sourness as the common taste to filipino food but also the saltiness as an act for preservative.
Wow😮Jessica with Erwan…level up…👏👏👏road to 1M subs..congratulations 🎉
I love watching your conversation and discussion about the richness of the Filipino culture in this aspect! Thanks so much for this beautiful collab!
At 4:04, Erwan just finished talking about Filipino food and culture in depth and in all seriousness and Jessica was like.. "Interesting! Do they have alcohol here!?" 😆😆😆 it's just so funny to me hahaha
THE COLLAB I NEVER KNEW I NEEDED TO SEE! So cool!!
Omg ang gwapo ni erwan 😭😭 the moment he look at jessica im dying 😭 hahhahahha so pogi his eloquence makes him attractive
I always say growing up in America, Filipinos need to stop thinking “Filipino” and think in the mindset of western foreigners. When I look for Filipino food it is mostly presented as turo turo. We need more upper class Filipino restaurants. JESSICA I am impressed with the new editing style of the video
Will definitely try it 💕
Batuan is in Negros Occidental, but not in Oriental. As a person working in Dumaguete.... I cannot find Batuan at all 😭😭😭
That beauty is sooooo yummy
More collab please❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This video made me hungry and crave filipino food! A very well made video introducing Filipino food. Erwan and you presented the dishes really well!
Archipelago in Seattle and Sampa in Los Angeles have similar elevated experimental Filipino multi course dining. Hopefully you can check them out in the states!
Wow!!! It’s nice and well inform😊
actually macapuno is the "niyog" that is all coconut meat and has no water... they say its a mutation of the usual niyog, before its quite rare to get even one but now its more common because of modern propagation techniques.
Hoping you can visit moi place too, like me i am a kapangpangan. Hoping you may try our own delicasies and places too. God bless also,i always watching all your vlogs,my favorate is when your friend trying going 1st in devesoria its so intense and excitement, glad you enjoy staying here in philippines congrats...more vlogs pamore and adventure too.🥰🥰
I was kinda wishing your captions were there on the Featr video on korean food.
I am loving how often you are uploading contents and how often I am seeing you as a guest on others vlogs as well! Keep them coming! looking forward to seeing more from you! Aja! Fighting!
