I'm really enjoying your videos, options are becoming much easier to understand now but I live off dividends, It's one of the most passive and effective ways to build an income stream while compounding.
You should never expect to live purely off of dividends. If you ever get to that point, then you are probably pretty rich either way and will live comfortably regardless. Your goal should be to invest so that your dividend income will complement any other sources of income that you are generating.
Juat curious, have you considered the possibility of cashing out some of those dividends for paying off your monthly expenses, instead of re-investing them? bcos I need a lot as rent, inflation alone eat up almost all of what I make.

Great video Alex, glad to see you back! I would mention the risk on selling puts, as it's not a fool-proof strategy. If the stock keeps dropping in value you can lose significant money as you own 100 shares. NKE would be a good example over the past year: If you sold a $100 NKE put at the beginning of the year, you'd be down ~30% on your 100 shares for a $3,000 loss.

Hi Alex i’ve watched so so many RUclips videos on options trading and I kinda got the concept of selling put options right away, but I was always confused about the rest of it. This video is the first video that I’ve seen that actually finally makes it ALL crystal clear to me. However, yesterday I made a mistake with NVDIA. And that’s because other videos that I’ve seen never said specifically that we should get a strike price in the money when buying Call options. So NVDIA was trading yesterday around $117 on the open market, and I bought 3 CALL options with a strike price of $120. Now after watching your video I’m realizing that I should’ve chosen a strike price of $117 or lower. The expiration date is September 20, 2024. So I’m hoping that NVDIA will bounce back above 120 in two months. Otherwise I’ll roll it in the middle of August. But from now on, I know that I need to be deep in the money when buying Call options. Thank you so much for explaining it so well. ❤❤❤❤
Same comments for selling the put apply for the second example, selling a covered call. You only have to sell the stock if the call buyer exercises the option, NOT just because the stock price touches the expiration price before expiration. And, you are NOT obligated to sell the stock, unless the option is exercised. Prior to expiration, you can very likely buy the option back, unless the stock is well in the money with little time left (when it could be easily exercised by the option buyer).
