  • After working in the fashion industry for over 5 years, and regularly attending the biggest fashion shows in the world I started to notice that there was a small change happening in and around the shows.
Street style by this time had become a huge industry with photographers shooting for the world's biggest fashion publications showcasing the hottest looks on the street to eager consumers.
However, the last few years i began noticing that those attending the shows became all to aware of the photographers.
Unlike the cues outside of the city shows, where photographers have a few seconds to snap their favourite look. Pitti Uomo is a four day long menswear trade- show, in Florence Italy
It’s a vast space where attendees spend all day walking around, visiting stands, eating in the sun or catching up with fellow fashion colleagues - and so consequently it has become a prime spot for the worlds top street style photographers to document and shoot some of the most stylish men on the planet.
It’s become a peacock parade where the men show off their outfits in all their glory hoping to get snapped by the top photographers.
It’s quite comical, the way the fully grown men pace around subtly trying their best to get snapped, and it’s the perfect location for this wildlife style mockumentray to take place.
A light hearted tongue in cheek look at peacocks of Pitti.

This was painfully hilarious. And nothing short of factual. 😂😂

The video hits the point. Here you see that these guys are far from being dandies. They are flamboyant but dont have "flamboyant understatement". They are dressing for others, not for themselves. They are dressing to show off but without delivering anything. The modern dandy is a shape without meaning.

Cairo Shuffler Strange is in it? Yet part of sartorial philosophy is to be unnoticeable and be able to put company at ease.

Fantastic! I loved the Attenborough-a-like voice over. Who'd have thought the collective noun for a group of peacocks is an 'Ostentation' :-)

A bit surprised because it says concept and direction by ... and yet it was done the year before on Summer Pitti, by Mr Porter, exactly the same with mock Attenborough voice over. I know great minds think a like ... maybe it's that?

Brilliant! The peacocks look to me like Makers, as in Maker Movement and Maker Fair. Makers make in a way that teaches others how to make their own things. Seems like the peacocks are doing the same making. -Frank

Haha, found a guy I know.
I'm by no means a part of the fashion industry. In fact, I am a farmer. But in 2018 some friends invited me to join them to the then taking place Pitti Uomo 94. I had a blast and even found some attention myself. So I didn't stand out in a negative way. Instead, I was so far from the trend, that I was somehow dressed a little unique, lol. Anyway, what is described in this video is very accurate.
It is a little like prostitution. But in a fun way; at least for me.

Nice bit of humor 😂 now and then gives levity to a weighty subject for many who don't understand much about a serious subculture, that actually gives inspiration and camaraderie to the few who give dressing 👞👔well a priority towards a Lifestyle choice!
    Via Con Dios!👞👔☝🙏🙌✌🦉🦅🌹🕊

Sprezzatura, the art of nonchalant elegance. A state unconscious and effortless imagination and unique sartorial expression. I saw nothing of the kind here, only elegance lost, pretentious, deluded show-ponies, too many to count.
