This may be the best subclass in the game. It makes the bard into the artificer as well as being all the other classes at once.
Straight up flying carpet robot at level six and an endless santa sack of anything at level fourteen. Plus bard.

Creative Crescendo allows you to make True Resurrection, Symbol, Resurrection and other incredibly expensive spells FREE, it is NOT underwhelming. It also lets you make things like a catapult or ballista or cannon or just a 15 foot cube of adamantine for whatever reason

Nonmagical items, so it can't be scrolls. It CAN - however - make some pretty dope stuff one could use in clutch moments, for sure.

You could also create a small castle (15x15x15) as an action, incase yourself or an enemy in an adamintine ball for 5 hours, create a 15x15x15 cube of lava, acid, oil, gunpowder, nuclear expolisves etc (midly DM dependent but acid and oil are definitly RAI) Creative Crescendo is not underwhelming it is easily the MOST POWERFUL level 14 ability in the Game not to mention you can do this as action once per day for free or at the cost of a second level spell slot. (at 14th level I would expect a bard to have a +5 to CHA) so you could create 5 small castles on the battlefield and they would last for 5 hours (this is way better than Leo's tiny hut). This doesn't even go into the fact that by RAW creatures can be created with this as well.

My bard in a Wild Beyond the Witchlight game is a rabbitfolk stage magician, when he gets to level 3 and uses performance of creation he'll pull the items out of his hat.

A level six idea I have would be to create a Small PC that flies around on an Enlarged Greatsword. Imagine the potential of a sword surfing bard on the stage and on the battlefield. If you really want to be the blade mastery puppeteer, imagine using Animate Objects spell a few levels later with the Dancing item at the very center of this horrifying sword swarm. With the right timing and positioning, you have this bee-swarm of blades quickly surround some poor victims while not only increasing the objects' flying speed, but reducing the opponents' movement as well.

You can literally animate the enemies weapon. Successfully disarming them....
That's actually incredibly awesome. You can basically force someone to surrender
Or beat them with their own weapon. Oof.

Shield is EVEN better. Take away there AC and beat them with there own defense. It’s donned to them so basically instant grapple. Move them where you want.

Strongest subclass for arguably the strongest class.... I'd say that makes it very good.
Ideas on what this class can do with a bit of DM approval. (NOTE THAT THEIR APPROVAL ISN'T REALLY NEEDED AS THIS DOES WORK RAW.) But the power level is so high you SHOULD get their approval. You don't want to tell your DM "I'm going to crush your encounters and marginalize every thing you do." Or maybe you do. In that case this is the subclass for you.
I've encased myself in a metal ball and used Magical Secrets to Cast Spirit Guardian. I did take performer as a background to get DM approval for this, but I was able to run around in my ball made of metal with Spirit Guardians wrecking everyone.
The move I've done the most is to create a cage around my opponent. And then lift them into the air. As a cage it doesn't offer much protection to them. This effectively removes the strongest melee character from the battle... With no save. I took a Hexblade dip (2 levels) to be able to cast Eldritch Blast and get my +5 charisma modifier added to each Bolt. That's the first turn. Then next turn they go up to 60 feet high and I blast them again. Then I make the cage open up. Dropping them 60 feet. If they don't grab onto it as it opens. (Latch at the bottom) After they fall the 60 feet I make the cage stop flying... So it falls 60 feet on top of them.
I've made the ball of Iron with little peep hole slits to cast spells out of then moved a little so the opponent can't see me. Most spells say target you can see. They can't see me so I'm effectively under full cover. Then on my turn I roll it so my sight is on the battlefield again and do some more blasting. A character in our party uses an ability to talk telepathic to me so I can know where everyone is to make this feel more natural.
I've created a bridge to span between two castle towers when we were chased. After we made it across I just undid my creation.... They fell to their death.
I've used a bed as a large flying carpet to get us to safety.
We fought a Elder Red Dragon when we were level 16. Being a 14th level Creation Bard I created an adamant muzzle around the dragons head. Closed off at the end. This protected us from it's breath attacks as well as effectively blinding it. All if it's attacks were made at disadvantage. Possibly could have done this earlier, but at 14th level you lose the gp value part.
I created a block of iron made like an H to make passing a narrow corridor impossible. Basically part was in front of the opening and part was behind the opening so it couldn't just be pulled or pushed out the way.
I've created a glass jar of acid on a creature's head. Noting that the glass wasn't strong enough to resist the acid. Basically ate through it and started eating the creatures head. Good times.
I've created stairs to get up to levels that weren't supposed to be easily reachable.
I can go on, but these effects are done at will where other characters need to use spell slots. Often for less effective results.
My character is a Turtle also. With the 2 level Hexblade dip and buckler his ac was 19 at level 1. To limit my character and make him balanced compared to the other characters in the party I pretty much only cast Eldritch Blast. Unless something is VERY warranted. Most of my spell slots are just used to create and make them animated.
Edit: I often wondered if maybe going back to Warlock to get level 3 is a good idea or not. At level 3 I'd get 2 more creations every short rest using the Warlock spell slots. (They cast 2nd level spells at level 3.) I often use them to cast Shield or Absorb Elements though. In doing so I wouldn't get Wish at 20th level as I'd miss out on the level 18 Magical Secrets. But I kinda already have a lesser form of Wish with Creation. It's a hard choice. Thoughts?

Ok, the saving throw ability is by far the strongest effect of mote of potential. With max charisma and a d8 bardic, you give an average of 9.5 temp hp every time someone uses it on a saving throw, which conveniently is right before damage. If you only give bardic for saving throws it's 47.5 average prevented damage a short rest, not including the saves which went from full to half damage with the bardic. And depending on how your DM rules it, you can always trigger the saving throw temp HP with vicious mockery, which will almost always do less damage then the temp HP given, and it does nothing if they succeed the save so they get all the temp hp

One idea for a bard character I thought of is an artist who has to bring anything the paint to life. For example; if they draw some clothing on a canvas and tap their pencil on it, said article of clothing becomes real and falls off the paper.
Which college would THAT fall under?
