Corona Library Materials are built conventionally, using conventional maps for diffuse, normals, etc. Scans are scanned to catch the way light changes from different angles, in a way that cannot be recreated through simple maps. To response to some of the replies, both the Corona Material Library and the Scans materials will continue, neither will replace the other. In the long term, the Corona Material Library materials will move into Chaos Cosmos, and it's possible that Scans might too, meaning you could find all the materials conveniently in the same place (but without losing any of the materials : ) ). @audio technika Well, I could ask "Why always make such negative assumptions?" ;) We have no plans to make your life more difficult. Will we take out Cosmos from the Solo version? Why would you even think we'd do that? No, no plans for that at all. What makes you think we abandoned the Corona Material Library? It's still there, available to all, not abandoned at all. Scans are a separate, specialist thing for when you need a precise real world material ("This foil, for labels, from this company"), so their complexity to use (which we are looking into) doesn't affect most users in most situations. Scans are not likely to be made available to all, and will likely stay in Premium only, but then they are specialist as noted. Simplify things by moving the materials from the material library into Cosmos? Work on that is already underway :) It would be nice not to have two places to search for materials, and that's been on our plan for some time (it's on the roadmap for 10 and has been since 9 came out, trello.com/c/ziUs9as4/228-unify-cosmos-and-corona-material-library ) So, we agree, make your life easier - that is always what we've been planning! We'll keep pursuing it too :) Aha I see, on the Scans - if Scans did ever move to Cosmos, they would show up if you had Premium, and not show up if you didn't, would be my guess. Cosmos does know what product you have installed and displays things accordingly, so that would be one solution. The other could be that you can download them from Cosmos but they wouldn't render, or perhaps would render but you'd not be able to edit them in any way. Not sure what route might be followed, but the good news is that it would be possible without removing Cosmos from Solo at all, which is the main thing! (And of course, it might just not happen and Scans may remain separate - would be a shame though, as they are hard to access at the moment, unfortunately). Thanks! Tom

Everyone with an existing license is on Premium by default. You only need to get in touch if you wish to swap from Premium to Solo. Hope this helps! Tom

Sorry to say this but it's just fancy talking about how easy it is. Let's be honest, it isn't, it's a PAIN in an ass.... :( Easy is to using Corona Material Library and Scans should should work that way. Even Quixel Megacans scans are way more user-friendly (especially when using Bridge). Corona Scans has like bilion steps to use one single material (and sometimes you need to check a few) and website isn't so intuitive after all (as we should have at least a few render preview to check, not only a "ball"). Don't get me wrong, materials have greate quality but using them is a totally different story... :(
They aren't rebranded, they are Chaos Scans, the very same Chaos Scans :) They were previously impossible to use in Corona, but now compatibility has been added. They remain extremely useful with materials that are impossible to recreate any other way, e.g. the foil and hologram materials in particular. Thanks! Tom
These are nice scans but you can get thousands of scanned materials for free with epic games/megascans. Why would I pay for these? They should be included free in both vray and corona subscriptions.
The megascans materials are only free for use within the Unreal engine as I understand it, and not free for use in Corona and other renderers. Scans are indeed included in the V-Ray and Corona subscriptions, the Premium subscription. Hope this helps! Tom

@@_roket Sorry you find the audio hard to understand - as noted above, steps were taken to ensure higher audio quality in all videos going forward. Unfortunately, RUclips does not allow the editing or processing of already uploaded audio, and deleting and uploading a whole new video would disrupt links and more which would add another type of inconvenience for our users. My best suggestion if you find the audio too hard to bear in this one video is to enable subtitles and turn the audio off, just for this one video. Since only this video has degraded audio, you wouldn't need to do that for any of our other content. Hope this helps, Tom

Yeah, Quixel is far ahead in comparasion
So these are basically rebranded vrscans materials that now also work with corona. Vrscans for vray got added like years ago.
