I fell in love with Kisumu when I was a student at the Maseno School 15 years ago. I have visited the place 5 times ever since. The city is so beautiful and super clean. When people from my native Central visit Kisumu, mostly for Maseno university graduation ceremonies, they all come back with stories about the charm and cleanliness of Kisumu City. Unfortunately, kama mtu hajatembea out of his village, he will propagate myths about other parts of Kenya.
I lived in Kisumu near the airport for 3 years and I fell in love with the city. Rent was affordable, transport is cheap, food was cheap except for fruits, and life was generally good. The nightlife is vibrant. Although I moved out, I feel I have unfinished business in Kisumu and I shall return one day.
All this time the media has only shown me stone throwers. This is such a beautiful place. Kisumu ber.
We don't throw stones alone we improve our city too everyday
@@kennedyochieng_ken behind the buildings, the developing infrastructure taking place there are people that make the place what it is. Good or bad. If the media only portrays the negatives it's not up to the outsiders like me to come to your rescue and change the narrative. I'm sure you're smart enough to know that change comes from within. Do your part and not blame others. As to the Chamwada show good job.
wa muigai did you really need to say such a thing? It’s totally uncalled for bro.
@@douglaswamburu2920 absolutely.
but thats the truth..only luo destroy their own city which is majority inhabited by them...no PR here
I’ll visit kisumu soon,much love from 🇹🇿
I spent my January in Kisumu and this lakeside city has the best roads in the country.
Not even Nairobi has such a smooth flow of traffic.
Interestingly, most of the infrastructure appeared newly laid down or refurbished.
I long to be back.
Very correct ma dear
Best city kenya has, lived in kisumu riat, migosi and mamboleo,i miss this place, i will never forget black pearl, signature ,barcadia and janam
I once passed Kisumu on my way to Homa Bay. I think Kisumu its the cleanest and coolest city in Kenya. Within the City you must adhere to speed limits thanks to the Traffic Police in Kisumu. The People are very friendly like the Boda Boda riders and etc. I would say the biggest enemy of this Country is Politics.
I have been to Kisumu its a big city. Greetings from Tanzania
Kisumu is city with lot of nature....i like this city and like to visit it in my time....live long kisumu from india....🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳

Welcome bro
Chamwada you are doing great work. This is the journalism we need in Kenya and what we should sell to the world
True we are tired of negative stories from media day and night

The media in developing world should re-discover their historical purpose in nation building. 99% of media content in this country is all about sensationalist bent: retrogressive politics, corruption, crime, poverty and witchcraft.
An objective coverage of positive, feel-good content contributes to the overall development agenda of a nation.
It's a pity CHAMWADA is the only media house which has dedicated 100% resources into reporting on, and highlighting the positive. If you think Kisumu has received positive development in the past decade, wait till you travel 50 kilometers across Kiboswa hills to another gem in the crown of western kenya: Kakamega!!
Kisumu renaissance! This vibrant city is back with a bang! Congratulations Kisumu #Godblesskenya

No one has shown this side of Kisumu...they only show us election violence 😂🤣🤣. People should really concentrate on the positive side...this nice it's more beautiful than even Mombasa
Go to rusinga, takawiri islands and feel like in coast taking a holiday!
Yep
sadly, most local media content had a friend of mine asking me how could Kisumu be called a city when all it had were just some shanties.
It is upon the Kisumu govt and people to promote its other great face and rebuild its reputation.
This Chams Media production will also help.
Kisumu pacu, love from Uganda
As a Ugandan , I am very happy to see such good news about the cities in the regions .
😂😂😂
Neglected region but rising compared to Eldoret glory to God
I knew someone must talk like you
Leave that Negative force.
Why the comparison? Kila town/city kwa lane yake. Different cities/towns have different attributes and will develop in different ways. Different does not mean better or worse. It is just...well....different!
No Comparison. Ksm is way, way, way ahead of Eldoret. Whoever planned Eldoret did a horrible job
When the County is managed by sane and learned fellas, that's what u get! Spectacular results! 👍🙌☺
Very true
The name Kisumu was derived from two words Kisuma and Kisumo. Kisuma, a place for exchanging goods with our neighbors. Kisumo, a place where Luo clans that had suffered calamities like war, famine or floods would gather to receive aid provided to them by other Luo clans. The name Kisumo was derived from the word "sumo" meaning charity. Kisumu also hosted the weekly clan elders meeting that took place on every market day. This meeting was presided over by the Ker (Overall Luo leader) and still takes place today.
Nice good to know. I knew you people were good hearted.this confirms it.love from a somali
As Kisumu's Finest, I approve this coverage as positive media reporting. Some only show us the stone throwing side of Kisumu. Thank you Chamwada.
That narrative sounds dumb and fake as it is. What the hell does stone throwing even mean anyway?
Nothing has changed Kisumu more than it's infrastructure. It's tremendous.
Love from Uganda
Hi, Is that Boby Wine. Oh bambi. Tolia Sebo. Keep the struggle going. Love from Nairobi and we are with you.
Eish am happy about kisumu city....🇰let's build our kenya 🇪
This is what the main stream media should be showing rather than depicting the negative part of our country.Kisumu bacho.
Thanks Alex Chamwada.
True Cleophas. The mainstream media has been a let down, focusing mainly in negative ethnicity and politics.
Don't you know that it has always been the Media's agenda to portray Nyanza and Kisumu as backward. "They even call their leaders Lords of poverty" yet they are the main players behind major infrastructures in the region. Currently the hycinths are 90% cleared and a port is under construction but you'll never see this on TV because they are devoted to spread bad news. KTN is not part of the royal media that's why you are even seeing this.
Woow, love to here Carrefour is setting up at Lake Basin Mall in 2 wks' time ! Kisumu is rising !
Fabulous. I had an office in Kisumu for 2 years or so and I found it quite promising but things didn't work for me but I still hope to come back there and start another office.
Hope you managed
it is my wish Alex that you open a journalism school , your coverage , camera work, iv never seen kisumu look so good , everything is amazing ,

Qollins Qollo Kisumu is actually great, camera or not. You know the camera cannot add or change what the eyes actually see. So come see with your own eyes. It’s the best way! But with that said, I agree, Chams Media is doing a great job enlightening all us of our beautiful country!
Mwaniki Mwaniki Karibu bru!
Kisumu has really grown fast in last 10 years in spite of the turmoils. I think in about 20 years it will be a different place altogether, a mega city.
The Entire Life I ever lived Kisumu was the best place to be, Its a nice City and has a big potential to grow!!
Wow beautiful much love from 🇺🇬🇺🇬🙏🙏👍👍
Beautiful African May ALLAH protect you from any harms and guide you to the path of TRUTH.
Ameen Green Cagar

Finally. Some great reporting. Kisumu looks absolutely well planned and professionally run. Sonko must go.
Good instincts
Yo..this is the first time we are trully seing Kisumu and its beauty. Definitely not what the media shows us. Its so beautiful. So inviting.
Stop seeing and start traveling.
The main problem in Kenya is our mainstream media focusing only on the negatives and politics and creating a negative and pessimistic energy in the country.. if we had more positive stories like these ... Kenyans would come to appreciate the development taking place in various parts of the country... from Kisumu to Moyale... from Mombasa to Kitale and Nyeri ... of course Nairobi etc and it would energise the population to forge forward... it is important to point the negatives happening in the country... but in Kenya it is overdone!!!sad.
Very true.
@@awaconawacon7533 Apart from KTN, the Royal Media is being run by Mt. Kenya tribslits and have bitterness against the Luo people. What else would you expect. Kenya is a nation being run by tribalists.
Very knowledgeable City Manager
Kisumu is such a nice city on Lake Victoria. Great ferry service from Kisumu to Kampala, Uganda. I wish there was a good high speed train Kisumu-Nairobi-Mombasa in the future.
This song by Susam owinyo focused me a dream of trying more effort to reach Europe, and one day to come back home,it gave me a dream and a vision and i made it and when it sings i remember ma dreams come true Thank you Suzzane .you made me see the light. This flo nyasiaya kababa from Switzerland

I am so nostalgic! I am crying. How I miss home! This is where my heat belongs... Nyongo is not a corrupt man, Kisumu was likely to progress under his watch! Well-done!
Clone the Prof. There is a need for a "Nyong'o" in Homa Bay, Siaya and perhaps Migori too, to mention but only a few
Waaaw!!! The city changed totally...
I worked with Hass petroleum at kibuye and lived in mamba village at Patel flats....

Kisumu City is awesome and has hospitable people. We love your songs. Suzanna Owiyo was a guest artist at a Mugithi night on Easter Saturday along Thika Road. Make Kisumu even better. Bring back Lwang'ni Beach. We want tour Kisumu (Githumo as we call it in Kiuk) more often.
Does she understand kikuyu?
And why is the Mt.Kenya Royal Media group always talking crap about the City?
Susan Owiyo never ages
Fish is doing wonders 😉
This is great! So much has taken place in a short span .How i miss you odhus pacho Dala.
Excellent journalism as always.
Mr. Chamwada and team are awesome professionals. You may consider setting up a training institute for Kenyan journalists. As you have constantly ably demonstrated, there are other issues to highlight other than politics.
I have seen and listened to an angle of Kisumu that I never knew existed.
We had been made to believe that all Kisumu had to offer was throwing stones, negative ethnicity, hyacinth in the lake, communicable diseases etc.
Keep up the good work.
No more stone throwing
Goodjob Chamwada, but you have omitted to cover athe crucial Health institutions to include the important health tourism sector. Who wants to visit a place with no know top of the range hospitals?
Congratulations kisumu and its people
If you want to see the fruits of devolution go to kisumu and kakamega.you dont need to be told

Thanks Chams, you always positive reporter
Amazing work, Team Chamwada and Chams Media Channel! Keep it up.
The Lake Basin Authority should also work on developing a Milk Creamery based on either Kericho, Bomet, Nandi or Kisii counties. LBA is the next big thing
True, the West must rise again.
Beautiful city and county. I love the changing face
Amazingly beautiful! That Ugali, sukumawiki and mboota looks so yammy.
The best set up in the city ave ever seen.houses well placed.hope nairobi can copy this
My city my town, am glad to see the rapid transformation of my city.
I love this channel and how it connects me to the continent.. with this video I only wish they would have allowed local investment into the hotel not Best Western.. why allow Western companies to benefit from this development, Africans should benefit, whether they be from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda or anywhere else in East Africa.. #AfricaforAfricans #Panafrican #Ancestors
Great news. The kind of journalism and news we need to hear from the Kenyan media everyday.
Beautiful eye sight see 😳 wow lovely.
We need to make kisumu great
Thank you Cham's media..Alex you voice is superb
Alex Chamwada doing some serious dance moves there, salute you sir, nice piece/report.
Beautiful!
Wah! Am equally impressed by the same.
Wow...this city is sooo clean
Desert life I agree. There is always room for improvement though but all in all as long as the effort is being made to do so, we are all “api fises in tha osen.”😂
very, very well done documentary ! now all kisumu needs to do is to avoid the same urban planning mistakes nairobi and mombasa have made, especially regarding PUBLIC TRANSPORT and NON MOTORISED TRANSPORT design and SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT issues.
Githinji I was born in nairobi, but of late I spend more time in kisumu,it reminds me of Nairobi in 80s, not overpopulated.
Great! Highly commendable progress and development of Kisumu .
Kisumu and Kakamega were neglected under the old regime. The two counties learned a big lesson that's why they are moving forward. KISUMU AND KAKAMEGA ARE ONE THING. And if Nairobi are not careful Kavirondo region will overtake them.
Haha you remember the term kavirondo
Awesome Kisumu.
now i know why Raila was fighting for devolution, the only way tribes outside the government since independence could get something.if only the county government would stop stealing and pump the monies to their counties,by 2050 Kenya will be on another level.
KISUMU AND MOMBASA ARE THE FUTURE OF KENYA...WHY?...THEY ARE NEXT TO WATER BODIES...WATER IS LIFE.
Nairobi river jamaa....hehe
paddy Lee 😂😂😂
The weather makes Nairobi competitive too. But the smelly Nairobi river and the overly "slammed" areas could be a challenge
@@hayonimengi4171 With a port connecting 3 different countries, 2 hours from Eldoret, 30 minutes from Kakamega, 3 hours from Busia and 40 minutes from Nairobi by air... Kisumu is actually the most strategic City in Kenya if not East Africa.
Nairobi the capital city is experiencing water shortage kisumu there is water 24/7
6 yrs I've been away I feel I can get lost in Kisumu I should come home and walk around wat dis a major improvement congrats
Thanks for this video, I was born here and now I seen this video and could not recognize it. Now it is a big city but it was only a small town in those days.
Thanks Chams Media, , , these are the kind of things we want to see on out Tvs
BEAUTIFUL...MBOKA
Thanks dear beautiful kisumu city 🌃👍🏽😘
Kisumu, Kampala and Mwanza are very great East Africa's citys. I've lived in both ksm and mza lovely city's, anybody tell me about Kampala.
Kampala is a great city, with some capable management in place since the Kampala City Council Authority was inaugurated. It is the safest city in East and Central Africa for pedestrians, and residents. With the revolutionary SafeBoda, there is no reason to fear the ubiquitous BodaBoda bikes. The city is also the party capital of Was Africa, with a feisty, affordable, no holds barred scene.
It is, on the downside, a very big construction site. Over 200 junctions under signalization, and an intense urban sprawl as the middle-class builds up; apartments and houses.
Actually these lake side cities are good.. mwanza the rock city from igoma to ferry till imelela ..soo beautiful
As one who lives in Kampala i realise that KLA is overgrown and overwhelmed in population and development . Unlike Kisumu , Kampala is not very well planned or managed and land is arbitrarily mismanaged due to personal ownership by individuals and overpopulation . Kisumu has a better chance to set standards , plans and rules NOW but should ensure not to squander that NOW rather than wait until its too late . Decide what the organised city will look like now and manage it towards that rather than later when its too late .
Kisumu ni beautiful
Kisumu city mwaaaaaaaa
God bless Kenya God bless ksm
Chamwada dances like Baba .Well done show

The last time I was in Kisumu is before the year 2000 when I visited the Lake Basin Development Authority as a group of Water Hyacinth Management and Control study consultants under a World Bank financing to the three East African countries that share Lake Victoria water resource. I believe we spent the two nights we stayed in Homa Bay, Kisumu and Busia region we slept at a hotel in City Center. I am very impressed by the transformation that has taken place and I hope the next time I am in Kenya, I will include a visit to Kisumu in my itinerary at least 2-3 days.
