    It's been so exciting to watch the development of this via Instagram. Recently built up my SUPERcore build, and after a few initial issues, I'm very impressed. Did some quick tests at 65psi (my usual operating pressure for my other Ultrastock HPA build) and was getting an average of around 270, with highs over 300. I downtuned it to find out if I could get it consistently under 130, but ran out of air unfortunately (time for a tank refill this week).
    I also had some issues with feeding on the Gen 3 darts, but the Gen 2 darts were all total lasers with no feed issues. Unfortunately Gen 3s are still pretty pricey in the UK, so I'll stick with Gen 2 for now

      Treezy for 130 FPS you’ll find you need a ported barrel that isn’t lined with brass... otherwise the darts wont leave the barrel... something to do with volume of air versus barrel length. Ofcourse you can use a shorter barrel... in my bullpup that doesn’t make sense though :-)

    • @childofthedarkrat
      @childofthedarkrat 5 лет назад +1

      @@nirodha7028 I'm using the stock Jet Alpha barrel at the moment, with a Worker scar threaded on the other end. Total airtight system. I was surprised to hit 300 without crazy pressures, but think it may be a little too long for consist lower velocities. My Longshot has an 11" 17/32 brass barrel and ported scar, and while it can go to lower velocities, it's far from consistent with them! Darts will either fly out at 120fps or fart out about 6ft away. That's why my Slingfire only has a 3" 17/32 brass barrel and scar. Consistently hits 130 average, yet even at 110psi won't break 200fps!

      Maes heheh... looking forward to the event aswell! It is a shame the worker darts feed so unreliably... because they shoot lasers from the blaster... much tighter grouping than the ACC’s. And for Island Infestation 1 I have to run this specific ported barrel without scar setup to be able to reach the low fps cap of 130. Hitting the pillow with the ACC’s wasn’t as easy as it would be with the fully brass lined barrel and scar combination. And even then... It will never be as precise as ‘that’ combination with Worker GEN3 darts cus that is just ludicrous.

      @Sandwich meat productions Yeah especially the later batches. Very inconsistent darts. This blaster no longer jams though since we added a funnel to the breech portion ensuring there is no longer a lip against which the tips can get stuck.

      EmoSquirrel781 Thank you for your kind words and interest in our developments. I guess it helps both me and Liam are certified engineers. At the same time... anyone with a creative mind and an interest to learn things can come up with stuff like this. My diploma only benefits me in the sense that my education has taught me the right process for development... and a lot of background general knowledge on production techniques. It is practicing ‘in real life scenario’s’ and actually making mistakes every now and then which leads to the experience to do a lot of this by ‘making educated guesses’. It helps a lot to look at and learn from existing solutions to problems. Basically every complex system (which a core may apear to be at first) is nothing but a collection of solutions to singular challenges. Tackle them one by one. Re-iterate... Turn around... look at it upside down... try again... take distance.... dive back in. All these things combined help create something new. Bit chaotic explenation. Hope it helps nonetheless :-)

      @@nirodha7028 It helps a lot, and it shows that I'm at least on the right track. Whats the effective range of this gun? Have you tested it? Good looking hardware

    • @nirodha7028
      @nirodha7028  4 года назад +1

      It is NOT a gun. It is an HPA powered foam dart blaster. Its effective range is equal to a spring powered blaster capable of around 300 fps. Ofcourse lower muzzle velocities are also possible by dialing down the second stage regulator. One of the perks of an HPA powered blaster is the ability to dial in your muzzle velocity to the specific event you are playing in. Different events have different FPS caps.
      Effective range is a difficult word... that is not only determined by the shear average range a dart can travel (at a given angle or flat) but also very much about at what distance the blaster is still acurate enough to consistently hit a human sized target. In my experience that range is about 20-25 meters when one uses a scar at the end of the muzzle.

    Hey, I came over since you commented on my video. I like the stuff you build here.
    I have a question: I haven't seen these shorter nerf darts. I've seen people modding nerf guns, but they are based on toy guns.
    What's the deal with this? It looks very professional, as if it was used in a sport. I don't want to be lazy, but could you tell me quickly what's the deal with those guns? I love it.
    best regards!

    • @nirodha7028
      @nirodha7028  4 года назад

      DerKrawallkeks welcome to my channel bud! Hope you subsribe for what’s to come in the future. So Yeah... these are what we call ‘half length darts’. They are (give or take a few mm depending on brand... half the length of a regular dart. ‘Back in the day’ people in the NIC used to make these themselves... often from foam bar with hot glue and washers... they called them ‘Steffans’ (if memory serves me right) after the guy who first made them. They were used and became readily adopted due to their superior flight characteristics over full lengths. An added bonus is their storage advantage and mag size that allows mag in grip designs. In the ever growing world of competitive nerf (Yes that is a thing)... these are becomming or are the ammo of choice for most players. Funny enough Hasbro themselves don’t make these half length darts... or the mags for them... only ‘aftermarket’ brands do this. Stupidly enough Hasbro wont step up and join the party... which is a weird choice. At the same time they used to rely on the cheap printer/expensive cartridges tactics by selling cool blasters for very descent prices but asking a rediculous premium for the ammo needed. Hence why you always see ‘only use with official Nerf darts’ on every package... Those are their cashcow. This blaster is fully 3D printed besides the internals. Inside is a normally closed breech core design by Spectre Armaments. Google ‘Super Core’ and you will find it. Currently Spectre and myself are working together on the next gen of cores (which will be a normaly open breech core design and basically the Holy grail of nerf HPA... also because of its much higher efficiency). Competitive Nerf is growing fast... HPA nerf is still in its infancy... but becoming more and more professional fast.

      @@nirodha7028 Thanks for your reply!
      I subbed, your build look very interesting.
      I didn't know that competitive nerf is a thing. Those darts surely make sense, they are so much better to handle in terms of size.
      Why do they fly better? Do they fly straight or do they have to be rotating?
      Cool story, didn't know about all that stuff. I've only known about airsoft really, and with that I've never been involved in anything other than homemade stuff.

    • @nirodha7028
      @nirodha7028  4 года назад

      DerKrawallkeks Thanks. They fly better because they have a better weight distribution. On top of that it helps if they rotate a little. We use ‘scars’ for that... or other rifled ‘end of barrel’ devices to accomplish the rotation. The rotation acts more as a method to rotate inconsistencies in the dart around rather than a gyroscopic stabilizer... since darts don’t weigh enough for that.

    Just wondering, isn’t that breach dangerous if you use your finger to clear jams

    • @nirodha7028
      @nirodha7028  5 лет назад +1

      Mister Bubs no sir. When you clear a jam you flip the lever on the second stage reg to depresurize the downstream system first. Also... the vertical magstop (the black piece sitting on top of the shell/magwell above the breech area) has a slot in it that isn’t wide enough to put your finger inside it. Lastly... even when you were to out your finger in front of the ‘normally closed breech pusher’ somehow in that moment when the trigger is pulled and the breech is momentarily ‘open’... the closing force of the pusher isn’t enough to really harm your finger. Hope this helps :-) Thank you for your justified question!

      Ian Pugh the files for the blaster itself (printables) will be released soon. Atleast the ones that represent the files I personally used to build my blaster without any changes to them. These parts require some work here and there to make them fit but that’s the best I can do for now. I will add a partslist and a brief description of the most important things to keep in mind when building the blaster.
      SNIPER core will still take a while. We are reinventing that particular core to suit the fact that our initially chosen sealing partner doesn’t want to play ball. Files of that design will never be released by the way. You will simply be able to buy a core at some point :-). The first opportunity to buy a core if you dont already own one will be a SUPER core as Liam is considering producing another batch of those to sell via retailers since demand for those is still very high.
      Hope this answers your question. If not let me know. Thank you for your interest and support!

      The 3rd Person good question. I should have mentioned it in the video. What caused the core to not cycle completely was silicone ‘grease’. Don’t use that stuff. What ‘does’ work really well (and I got the tip from Liam) is silicon ‘oil’... specifically with a viscosity of 100 sCt.

    no part of it actually nerf but it does shoot half length foam darts that nerf doesn’t make

      Boom tendo Hi! Half length darts which everyone in a competitive nerf environment deems the present and future of performance blasters. To me... a foam dart blaster is ‘nerf’ regardless of its propulsion method. HPA is something to be carefull with though and should only be used by adults or under adult suppervision and only on private locations specifically ‘open to HPA’... like paintball or airsoft arena’s. Everyone should abide by their local laws, rules and regulations and make sure owning or using such a blaster is not ilegal.
      By the way... for you... being ‘the single biggest fan and promotor of Boomco’ I will make an exception and state hollow straw darts are also nerf ;-) Love your work! Greetings to the rest of the OC Nerf scene (if I am not mistaken).

      UnscrupulousModefiler Thanks bud! Dean did a full tank test in his ADHD and got 200 shots out of it at 40 psi. I have yet to do a similar test with my blaster. It will likely happen at Island Infestation 1.

    • @unscrupulousmodefiler
      @unscrupulousmodefiler 5 лет назад

      @@nirodha7028 So 40psi might be about the sweet-spot for performance and efficiency out of these cores? (gets about 150fps(?) with this configuration, then on upwards with longer/differently-ported barrels...) Thinking if I aim to tune any future master-key attachments to run at 40psi, it should just be a direct attachment to the output off the same regulator? That would be really handy!

    • @nirodha7028
      @nirodha7028  5 лет назад +1

      UnscrupulousModefiler well... 40 psi is a Nice setting for a SUPER core yes.. SNIPER core’s spiritual predecessor in the form of SOBER did 280 FPS at around 30 psi if memory serves me right... (it couldn’t run lower due to friction involved). Liam stated it was basically ‘too good’ at that point. SNIPER is purposely gimped a little in comparison to allow lower fps ranges aswell... but... generaly speaking it should be way more air efficient than SUPER cores. I’d suggest to wait it out a little for pinning down the sweet spot.
      Also.. I don’t know if there ever will be a sweet spot. The whole point of a regulated pressure blaster is that you can easily change the fps output to serve your games needs. One blaster to play them all if you will. The performance of the underbarrel could simply scale with it I suppose?

    • @unscrupulousmodefiler
      @unscrupulousmodefiler 5 лет назад

      @@nirodha7028 Yeah, I suppose I'm less trying to pin down the "sweet spot" as attempting to anticipate the minimum pressure that the cores would conceivable be run at and try to design for a passable level of performance from a strap-on launcher tapping into that output (and as you suggest... making sure it can take that additional pressure as it gets dialled up for different game-types).
      If I'm following the back-and-forth on the HPA forums, another limiting factor in minimum psi was the regulators themselves? (though that could be relatively easy to sort?).
      As it is there's a heap of wasted air in the Absolution system firing missiles so I'm not too worried about running those at low psi, and I've a few cards yet to play getting the absolver-style shells as air-efficient as possible (3d printing may be on the menu sooner than anticipated, a dedicated short-dart absolver shell is theoretically better performing plus there are options for 2x3 or 2x4-shot "salvo" shells to really concentrate on range and power... and yet to try the famous Marshmellow-blaster style exhast valve on a tank). Given the tank-size I'm aiming for, 30psi might be the minimum I'd want to run the absolvers on though so yes, will be waiting to see what emerges as the "standard" low-pressure setting... and if they're still a bit gutless at that point it may be time to increase the volume a bit. It'll depend a bit on what people want to use them for: a wide choke close-range scatter-shot could still be quite handy even at low velocity =0)
