I love lipstick plants but man, they make such a mess. I am in a constant state of picking up dropped flowers all day long because it blooms ALL THE TIME. I love them. But they shed more than my cats.
I was just looking up Hoya lacunosa! Very informative video, Nick! 😊 And so happy to see an orchid on your channel! They’re my fav. Lovely plants and I enjoyed the split-screen closeup shots and care tips.
Ceropegia woodii flowers for me all over the year... And nice little flowers from Oxalis triangularis. Thanks for the informative and nice video Nick :-)
Yay some gesneriads! I love aroids as much as the next plant head but gesneriads have a soft spot in my heart. I didn't know lipstick plants were in the family! That's awesome
Thanks for this video! Great tips ....my lipstick plant is hanging on by a thread it goes through so many phases and right now it’s not doing well. I pulled it away from so much direct light...thanks for that. I’m with you on the peace lily! Mine came to me as part of a florist arrangement I planted it in its own pot and it keeps growing leaves but not a single bloom yet. I’m going to repot it in a larger pot and maybe even try to divide it in spring before I throw in the towel. I am super excited about my CLIVIA right now🤞is spiking some blooms for the first time and I’ve had it for at least 3 years. I think giving it the cold treatment for a month did the trick.
Awesome! Thanks! 🙏 😎 I’d never heard of any of those plants before! I’ll have to check them out sometime! I love learning about the wide diversity of houseplants with you! I am lucky enough to have a Christmas/Thanksgiving Cactus, and that plant is a joy! Right when the days start getting shorter, it’ll erupt in blossoms so you don’t feel quite so crap about it being dark so early! I also want to mention to everyone that snake plants will occasionally surprise you with a magical stalk of white flowers with curly petals and a one-of-a-kind aroma. I’ve only seen mine, which is around 25 years old, bloom maybe once or twice, but it’s so cool when it happens! Best!
Hi Nick! I would love to have more flowering plants, but for now I have 2 regular Peace Lilies, a larger one that blooms quite often and a smaller one that hasn't bloomed yet. I hope to find a Domino one this year. I, also, recently purchased an African Violet that had lime green flowers, which have all died, but hoping it blooms again. One of my Hoyas, I think it is a Publicalyx, has bloomed a few times over the past maybe 10 years and smells so good. I just wish it bloomed more often. I have several Phalaenopsis orchids, hoping they will bloom again. I'm hoping to find a Thanksgiving/Christmas/Easter cactus this year. I love their flowers. I couldn't find one last fall. The plants you showcased are now on my wish list. Stef Hall said the Hoya Multiflora blooms for her often, so I ordered, and received one, along with a Hoya Bella and a Hoya Carnosa Crimson Queen. I'm hoping they will all flower for me! Thank you so much for sharing with us! I love seeing more videos from you!
I have a Persian Shield (Strobilanthes dyerianus) is a beautiful plant with neon purple and green leaves (I bet you Nick that you would like this leaf colour) but then it started flowering with these little cone shaped light purple flowers over and over! The old flowers are kind of a pain to pick up but this plant is so lovely I don’t mind. I have mine in a south/west window in Northern Nevada USA.
Hi Nick. Thanks for uploading highly informative plant videos. I'd love to hear your opinion on "it" or up and coming plants for 2020, and I hope you'll make a video about them. Thank you!
I grow my orchid in bark in a clear plastic pot. The wat I know when it needs watering is when I see the roots turning silver, then I thoroughly soak it.
I do this as well, I find the clear pots super helpful. When watering I leave it sit in water for about 20 - 30 mins, let it drain out completely then it's good to go for another week or so.
@@NickPileggiPlants the good thing about the plastic pots is that you can see the roots - so as soon as they turn silver soak it, otherwise as I'm sure you know If the roots are green they are nice and plump full of water
I love the cute lil flowers on my rex and cane begonias! They're mainly grown for their foliage, but I think they're so dainty and adorable haha. Plus, I know my plant is happy!
I used to wait for my peace-lily to to hang its leaves before watering it, but I have come to realise it's actually a really thirsty plant, so at first sign of the leaves not looking as perky as normal, I water, and I think it's enjoying that a lot more, so now it flowers more, with bigger flowers for me, and I never let its leaves hang down :) Flowering houseplants I really like that you didn't mention; african violets and anthuriums. Pretty basic, but they do really well for me, and I love their colourful displays.
If I’m right that epiphyllum is called Disocactus ackermanii. I have one and it’s been a slow grower. Hopefully this summer it’ll start growing. Mines about a 10-12 inch hanging pot and it’s gorgeous. I had to buy it the moment I saw it.
I've been growing houseplants for some while now, but I didn't know that there are orchids with nice foliage. I might have to look into that. I haven't had luck with orchids until now, but I think I had them in too low light. Everybody keeps saying that they don't need much light, so it's really interesting that you have yours in bright light. I got a new phaleonopsis with cute smaller flowers yesterday, trying again. This time I put it in front of an east facing window, we'll see how it goes. I love the flowers, but I don't like looking at a naked stem for too long when the flowers eventually fall of.
Thank you Nick for sharing this information I just found your channel recently just have question can suggest some outdoor lobby plant which good in all weather as we are in Canada & in winters here’s extreme cold please suggest any plants . Thanks
The Amazing Amaryllis!!! I Bought One At Lowes In The Middle Of December Because I Had Missed Buying One The Year Before. IT Was Called The Red Lion...SO How Could I Not!!! I Am Awaiting The Opening Of 2 Tall And Strong Flower Stalks Which I'm Sure Will Mesmerize ME With Their Beauty!!!
how do you keep orchids as dried flowers? or any flower for that matter. i have trouble doing it because the flowers just drop when drying when i try =(
Mine actually started to strive when I repotted them and placed them way pulled back from the windows. I do feel that they go dormant in winter though.
Hey, Nick ... where is your plant shop located? Can we purchase directly from you? Will you ship to Nyc? Loving the hoya and peace lilly!! Great video, thx!!!
I ordered a lipstick plant! It should arrive tomorrow. I’m to the moon excited!!! Literally just checked location of my plant package. 😜😂👏🏽🌱 plant mail is the best mail! Thanks for inspiring me to purchase one. 💄 🌱
So I caught that you said your variegated lipstick plant is your most commonly grown?? 😱 Can you please show your lipstick plant collection????? That is my favorite genus and I want to learn what else they have out there!!!
I can not make my lipstick plant happy! I noticed the top soil was growing mold?! So I removed the top soul and replaced it. Happened again. Reported it all together and got rid of some dead branches. Knowing that you shouldn't really do that in the winter, did it anyways since I thought the plant would at least appreciate some fresh soil and a trim. Now she is just losing even more leaves and acting like it is over watered or under watered. It is in a plastic nursery pot,so I got a terracotta one. I'm waiting a little while to fiddle with it since I don't want to stress it out too much, but I'm scared it's going to die. HELP? any suggestions would be amazing thanks
My episcias leaves keep getting crispy and falling off. Its in my bathroom with low to medium light. And i bottom water when top soil is dry. Why? Help!
I was wondering Nick if you've had any experience with jade plants that have those sprays of white blooms? I struggle with jades and never have gotten any to ever bloom, but others have them that get large and have white blooms all over them. I enjoy your videos.

I never thought of saving/drying the flowers my plants produce! That's such a great idea!
Some are just too precious when dried to throw out!
I love lipstick plants but man, they make such a mess. I am in a constant state of picking up dropped flowers all day long because it blooms ALL THE TIME. I love them. But they shed more than my cats.
Hahaha! This one hasn’t flowered for me yet but I’ll get the broom ready for when it does 🧹
Omg #facts!! 😂
SAME but with polka dot plants. at first I was so proud of making it bloom that I kept the dried ones but there's just so many now!!
I save dry flowers too! Nice!
They’re too cute to get rid of!

As usual, good tips for spoiling those houseplants! Thanks a lot!

I would love to see a video about where you purchase plants. Websites, trusted ebay stores, etc. THanks!

It’s so nice when they flower! Foliage and flowers 😍

@@sashaf7 yup! They have small white and yellow flowers
Love your videos, Nick. Pretty new at this, so no flowers so far, but I know if I hang in there long enough it will happen!
Thank you so much! ☺️🌿

Peace lilies can be hard to keep up with sometimes 🤦🏼♂️ Good choices!

I need to know how you grow your epscias....beautiful and no bad leaves!
Christmas/thanksgiving/Easter cactus

Hi wondering what brand of potting mix you use
how do you keep orchids as dried flowers? or any flower for that matter. i have trouble doing it because the flowers just drop when drying when i try =(
My Peace Lilly and I have been fighting for almost a year now I can’t figure out what she needs...Love your videos by the way❤️
They can be fussy!!
Mine actually started to strive when I repotted them and placed them way pulled back from the windows. I do feel that they go dormant in winter though.
Goldfish plant too
Nick, I need that trellis in my life! Please advise 😊
Peter Cardona
Nick did a video about 4 mounts ago called Plant Corner Makeover where put up the trellis which he says is from Ikea
It’s from Ikea! You can check out my “plant corner makeover” video from last year
Thanks Lisa & Nick!👍 My brain just didn't make the connection between the corner makeover & trellis🙈
Hey, Nick ... where is your plant shop located? Can we purchase directly from you? Will you ship to Nyc? Loving the hoya and peace lilly!! Great video, thx!!!
They don't ship. He said that in the video before this one.
Doesn't ship, but his shop is in Philadelphia! So it shouldn't be too far from NYC.
We are in the East Passyunk neighborhood of Philadelphia ☺️ Sorry we do not ship though!
I was surprised to see a beautiful purple orchid looking flower on my red maranta yesterday.
Their flowers are so cute!!
I ordered a lipstick plant! It should arrive tomorrow. I’m to the moon excited!!! Literally just checked location of my plant package. 😜😂👏🏽🌱 plant mail is the best mail! Thanks for inspiring me to purchase one. 💄 🌱
Plant mail is the best 🌿💄
So I caught that you said your variegated lipstick plant is your most commonly grown?? 😱 Can you please show your lipstick plant collection????? That is my favorite genus and I want to learn what else they have out there!!!
I don’t have very many others, just A. longicaulis and A. evrardii 🌱
Google says the orchid cactus is possibly a Disocactus phyllanthoides? or maybe ackermanii?
Your lipstick plant is so gorgeous! I struggle with them. I can't seem to get the watering correct. I either seem to over or under water.
I think I lean towards underwatering with mine!
Beautiful plants! I love orchids and also house plants... my peace lily don’t flower for me!!!!

I would put it in or near a bright window. They like a peaty soil mixture and don’t mind drying out a little
My episcias leaves keep getting crispy and falling off. Its in my bathroom with low to medium light. And i bottom water when top soil is dry. Why? Help!
It could be not enough light or too cold!
Epihyllum oxypetallum??
I was wondering Nick if you've had any experience with jade plants that have those sprays of white blooms? I struggle with jades and never have gotten any to ever bloom, but others have them that get large and have white blooms all over them. I enjoy your videos.
I looove my lipstick plant i think the pink flowers is the most beautiful and thats what mine have. I think the pink one should be more talked about
The pink one with little leaves is adorable!
Nick Pileggi yea i think its called thai pink!
New camera?
Yep!
Nematanthus is also a good one
🌸🌼🌺
🌿
Lipstick plant is spelled Aeschynanthus
Wow, I never knew there was a Tolkien orchid, I think shelob was the giant spider in the book.
An easy orchid to get your hands on, too!
none of these have flowers wtf don’t you have something in bloom this is sad
the peace lily was flowering ;)
