Blues fan but I really hope Foligno is alright and it ends up not being as bad as it looks. I want both teams fully charged for a close series. Foligno seems like such an important piece for the Wild.
Call me crazy this isnt intentional... He has body position and Foligno looks like hes reaching because he knows he needs the clear
When it happens in the last game and all your stars are "resting" then it doesn't matter. Hope MacKinnon has extra knee pads. Can't be soft and dirty both.
When dodging a hit you need to literally jump out the way or you might as well take the hit
Crazy.
It wasn't dirty
@@aaronsalinas518 He literally hit him directly in the knee. No other contact. Youre a dunce.

Shut up clown. Wild suck. We all know you a wild fan. This team is trash who don’t even stick up for thrrr teammates and will never win a cup
Come on up
U need to go to mtl
It’s not, it’s been measured and the Ball Arena is the loudest
If these two teams meet eachother in the second round this year, its gonna be some intense hockey to say the least.
If that was intentional he was doing it wrong, nearly destroyed his own knee.
Yeah he seemed really hurt by it
knee on knee if rarely intentional for that very purpose, you never know who is going to get the worst of it.
Most knee on knees are the checkers fault imo. If you go for a good hit, your shoulder/chest (arms a little too) should be the leading factor. Any time knee makes contact with anything under the belt, you were reaching, whether its “intentional” or not
@@Kanehdian123 Except if you crouch and bend your knee you do...
MacDukie didn't even try to play the puck. Obviously intentional
I remember Foligno ACTUALLY stuck his knee out on Voracek and there was no call at all lmao

Yep. That's why I just smiled at this video
@@pantsarmstrong863 I understand Karma got him good but still you shouldn’t be happy that anyone gets hurt, that is just terrible and Karma might find you next. Who knows?
@@songstadfamily3916 Yeah. I wasn't happy actually. I did raise an eyebrow though. I like Foligno and hate to see anyone injured, especially before the playoffs. I don't believe in Karma so I think I'll be okay.
Exactly!
Mcdeirmid wasn't trying to go for his knee
I'm sorry I'm just not seeing the intention here.
This whole game has been a rough one
I love Marcus but he did the same thing to Voracek a few weeks ago
Just watched both. Foligno stuck out his leg to "hit" Voracek. Macdermid was going in sideways to hit Foligno and missed and watching the replay, was lucky he didn't have a serious injury just by the way Foligno's knee went into the side of his knee. Hope Foligno is okay. Too bad Middleton didn't stick up for his teammate, it would have been a good tilt to watch.
@@tofuhockey too bad? Why would Minnesota want to go shorthanded? Risk another injury in a fight? He would get an extra 2 for instigating
@@tofuhockey foligno cause it to himself tho was no intent to knee of macdermid
@@JimmyFunkytown Shorthanded? MacDermid had a 5 minute major. If Middleton was on the ice hurt, do you think Foligno would think twice about dropping them to stick up for his teammate?
@@tofuhockey so your saying Foligno, who is already on the ice is going to stick up for Middleton, who just stuck up for Foligno? Are you dumb? If Middleton fought he would have gotten a 5 minute major for fighting and 2 minutes for instigating thus eliminating tge 5 minute power play. So, yes short handed!
So. The avs player is against the boards, and foligno is going in full tilt, what was supposed to happen?
Thank you. Not a penalty.
as a Wild fan I don't see how people think thats intentional. Just going in to make a play and they catch legs. unfortunate outcome but it doesn't seem malicious to me.
I’m not a fan of either team and I’m not a fan of either player, what I can see was that MacDermid was looking for a full body check, Foligno was trying to avoid the contact, unfortunately he only managed to shift his body out of the way, not his knees. If he just went straight and braced for the hit, there would be no penalties. However, with the playoffs just days away, nobody wants to see any player injured at this time.
I don't even think Foligno had time to react to try to get out of the way. I think that was the path he was taking regardless of MacDermid, but I also don't think MacDermid meant to do that. Looked like he was just going for the puck. Hope Foligno doesn't miss much time. Not a fan either, but you hate to see a guy get injured in a meaningless final game of the season
I feel like a lot of the knee on knee hits we have seen in the nhl more recently are due to players trying to avoid the hit. In my opinion, most of the time it’s usually not the opposing player trying to throw a dirty hit and end the guys career. If players would just take the hit and stop putting themselves in vulnerable positions we wouldn’t see this problem as much.
@@adamlewis9599 You have to see beyond the hit itself in these situations for why they tried to avoid the check, there was a counterattack opportunity. MacDermid missed the window to deliver a legal check and slightly extended his leg forward by instinct. Textbook kneeing.
@@Kristofburger yeah that’s not how the game works. That’s a good pinch that has a two pronged purpose. He is either going to A. Get against the boards to try and keep the puck in using his body, or B. Play the body to balance out the pinch. There was absolutely nothing late about that hit. Foligno should have recognized he was going to be taken off the rush to negate a bad pinch and just take the hit on the shoulder instead of jumping out of the way.
@@Kristofburger missed the window. Foligno just chipped the puck milliseconds before the hit.
Funny people say it was dirty when foligno decided to get out of the way last second. You can even see the replay where he tried moving lol
You can even see MacDermid saying "I didn't fucking moved"

@@celinedelgado243 you mean foligno tried to dodge and skated his knee in to derms
sure looked like he spread his base in the first 2 replays, but that last angle sure made it look a lot less criminal
He still lunged forward
yeah cause with the puck coming up the boards he expects Foligno to come closer to the boards to collect the puck hence why he took that angle on the hit attempt but because Foligno just tries to reach lazily he stays further from the boards making the contact baaaaad on the knee on knee. Not an intentional bad hit as far as im concerned but definitely worth the major and you know what, couldnt have happened to a nicer guy I hope he ends up okay but I aint gonna lose any sleep over it either
@@SlapHappyGreen I wanted to read your opinion until your called Foligno’s play lazy. What are you talking Ava and how is him simply poking at the puck to get it out of the zone relevant? If anything it would be MacDermid’s careless play that ends up with him not only missing the puck but then skating through Foligno’s knee. I think it looks intentional. He was trying to get.a piece of Foligno as best he could.

True the Aves guy never moved this leg
Folignos hit on Voracek a couple months back was far worse.
That was a weak call
If foligno didn't bitch out it would have just been a hit.
Tell me you’ve never skated without telling me you’ve never skated. That wasn’t all that dirty of a play. But there really wasn’t much either player could have done. Foligno was playing the puck and got plowed knee to knee. Very unfortunate. But to say he “bitched out” is just ignorant

I don't think that was intentional, but it's sure funny how these things come back to haunt you years later. I still remember when the avs were kicking the wilds ass in the playoffs and Cooke took barrie out with a knee on knee. Barrie never played the same after that

Bad Call.
Should've just taken the hit to move the puck, he tried to dodge the hit and caught his knee on Mcdermids. It's hockey responsibility on the checker and the person being checked.
no way should warrant a 5 just cause foligno caused an injury to himself. he basically skated his knee into derms
You must be watching a different replay. Foligno lunges to tip the puck forward, not to avoid the hit - never saw the hit coming. MacDermid plants his right leg into Foligno’s knee well after the puck has cleared. Totally unnecessary cheap shot.
He would have connected to that guy's chin with his elbow if he didnt dodge a bit...unfortunate his leg was in a vulnerable position
That wasn't intentional. He was going for a body checked, missed and they caught knees.
Agreed MacDermid throws his shoulder at him and if Foligno takes the hit he's fine, but he tries to step out of the way and exposes his knee
his head is level with his elbow at that point, he would not be fine either way.
MacDermid lined up the hit wrong.. To me, no way that it was intentional, but he lined Foligno up at the wrong angle and then this happened...
The shoulder was not thrown. If anything the leg extends.
loll good hope hes out for the rest ... no suspension .didnt lead at all
That should be a no call! Wtf these refs needs to go each other’s bicks!
Wonder if Minnesota's announcing team finds the Wild's blindside headshots on goalies "hard to watch" too. Looks like we get MacDermid v. Deslauriers version 38. Whoever said this would be a war of a playoff series is wrong, because other than Deslauriers, the Wild don't have anyone who can actually fight even if they had the guts to try.
Well your boy just cut off Foligno’s knee - one of our fighters. Middleton will fuck up anyone on your team beside MacD. Deslaurier will fuck up MacD. Hartman, Big D, Dumba, Middleton, Greenway, Foligno, Duhaime, Dewar…They’ve got a lot of guys that can fight.
Duhaime literally mopped the ice with whoever that loser was that got the boarding call a few minutes before this.
I actually think he tried to pull his knee back last second. But you still have to be in control man. I don’t think it was intentional. I’ve been in similar situations and at that speed a guy trying to side step and still trying to take the body is difficult. A penalty for sure but nothing malicious as far as I’m concerned.
Can't tell you if this was intentional or not. Either way it will suck if foligno misses any playoff games. He may not show up on the stat sheet every night but he is a rock solid game changer.

Anyone that thinks kneeings like this aren’t intentional truly doesn’t understand hockey or ice skating.
