Yeah, Galneryus is literally the Dream Theater of JAPAN. SYU is every bit as good as Petrucci. Sometimes they sound like Rhapsody, and sometimes they sound like Yngwie, or Dream Theater. Galneryus is the complete package. And sadly, they don't get the recognition they deserve outside of Japan. SYU doesn't need a second guitarist to play along with. ( Just like Michael Romeo and Symphony X ). Yes, SYU is an influence for Midori. She has all the right influences, and that is why she is the next legend. Music is in Japan now. And much like their cars, trains, and motorcycles... they are showing the world they are THE BEST. Respect to JAPAN!
Huge Galneryus and Syu fan here, the band is incredible, his whole discography is insane talking about the way its made, riffs, lyrics, etc, mostly of them composed by Syu himself A lot of people will request "Angel of Salvation" maybe because its their most famous song, but its not the best, they have way better songs that are not that known. I would say "Grmetal" (is an instrumenstal that has increible live version and the guitar solo is one of his best solos) / "Seasons Cry", really old song which has an insane solo / "Ultimate Sacrifice", another 14mins masterpiece that tells you another story connected to The Force of Courage / "Brutal Spiral of Emotions", which has two of the Syu's best solos / "Vetelgyus" is an impressive instrumenstal / or "Whatever it Takes" which is from their last album released few days ago, all of them have live versions ofc. Actually most of Galneryus song run for about 6-8 minutes and some of them more than 10 minutes, so some of MV version is shorter than the original songs, it's better react to their live version since it give better experience and they sound better in live...
Yeah, I put Syu at the same level as Petrucci, Yngwie, Kiko, etc. The only metal guitar master that is slightly higher would be Michael Romeo, and Romeo is #1 in the world. All the top players are masters. It really comes down to style and songwriting at that point. Kinda sucks to try and compare, because a master is a master. And it's not a sport, or a competition. But we all have our influences and our favorites. For me, ROMEO is #1. And until I see someone come along that can kick Romeo's ass.... he will stay #1.
@@mkz4383 Take Romeo's collective works over the last 25 years. He has made an impressive impact on the music world. Nothing against Syu. Syu is right up there with the best of the best. Like I said, I don't really want to compare all these guys that are on this level. They are all masters. Syu is a legend. No doubt about it.

Great reaction and just remembering all the notes he plays in these long songs is amazing. I'd call them neoclassical power metal, Syu writes most of the music and is considered the best shredder in Japan (and probably the world). The singer Masatoshi has a really powerful voice.
This band and Syu in particular are so gifted. Syu plays a lot of the masters on that guitar and it is a wonder to behold. Next song by them is Angel of Salvation, it is epic, the official MV (ruclips.net/video/nsi9HEmZl9Y/видео.html) is awesome but if you have the patience the LIVE version (ruclips.net/video/vSP8-qelldA/видео.html) with the LIVE strings and the crowd is insane but it is 18 minutes (for today's generations that is a lifetime, have to laugh as that was often the fare in the 60's and 70's). Take your pick either will demonstrate the awesome power of this band and show you one of the most underrated guitarists out there in Syu who can match anyone on that ax!!

@Dang Memes I hear ya. Petrucci is more of a prog technician. Top skill. Syu is great on stage. So is princess Midori.
