Great video. Probably to late for my idea but here it is. Maybe use a few rare earth magnets on each side to fill the space. They’ll act as a spacer and they’re so strong they’ll hold the shelf more secure. Gary
Very nice video...thank you....of course, I'm pretty cheap...so I'll just use a tv tray table with a plastic milk crate on top of it to hold all my accessories.....thanx again and keep up the good work!
Thank you for watching and commenting. That method will work too. I’m all for saving money!!! Stay safe.
I totally agree with you when we are both mechanically inclined they should make that may be a little deeper and use something else or another way to fasten that I totally agree but that company I bought a top for my unit like yours and I wish it was a hinged unit
I need to buy the stainless steel top. Does yours have hooks to hang on the back of the griddle?
Thank you fir watching and commenting. Much appreciated!
Thanks for taking the time to do this review. Great job.
Thank you for the kind words. Much appreciated. Stay safe and healthy!!!
Maybe just me but I would never hang anything off the front of my appliances. I'd rather have it on two tube legs at the back of this unit or over the shelves. I am wondering if you removed the bottom cover and put walls around a raised shelf under the griddle would there be enough heat to work like a salamander, a broiler. Think of the nachos with melted cheese from the griddles burners. Good video Thankyou. God bless.
Thank you for watching, commenting, and hopefully subscribing. I’m thinking you don’t own a griddle like this. That front shelf is just amazingly handy to keep your spices your water and oil bottles right there right in front and ready to go. It’s almost a necessity if you use a griddle like this. You would not be able to use the shelf as a salamander as there is no heat at all underneath. Actually, the shelving below is a very cool almost no heat at all. Again thanks for watching and stay safe my friend.
@@SmokinwithKasket My griddle is the 2 burner camp chef basecamp stove with the griddle that covers the hole stove and the griddle that uses one burner. I started with one stove and bought a second one last summer, when our families decided our summer kitchen was the place to hangout. I just miss my salamander. Doing nachos and open faced sandwiches benefit from the broiler. I like the versatility of having the burners for pots or double boilers.
@@joelongstaff7601 - Yes!!! That’s the best having a broiler / salamander for nachos & sandwiches. I easily boil water and things in pots on the griddle.
Great review and info, just picked one up today!
Great. You'll love it!!! Must fix the flappiness though. Watch Part II - on the quick fix. Happy Smokin'!!!
Great video, do u know if they make it for the larger camp chef model. The 900?
I do not know for sure if they make it for the 900, I have not seen it listed for the 900.
I owned one and offered it up to my deer camp because it was needed, but I wonder why people leave the grill grates in when their not grilling , I always removed mine and my griddle sat down really nice and I didn't have any issues with excess heat coming out of the side's and I had actually used mine on the front porch in basically a storm and never lost flame 😁 would love to get another one! Great unit! I did blueberry pancakes on it and bacon .
I did salmon and asparagus wrapped in bacon .
Rowdy Broomstick - Thank you soooo much! You just answered a question about leaving or removing the grates, I been trying to get for a long time. I even tried contacting Camp Chef to no avail. Appreciate your input. Thank you for watching and supporting. Stay safe!!!
It's an either or thing really, you can either leave them in, or take them out and store them on the shelf. I found leaving them in reduces the cooktop temp by 50* and leaves cold spots, took them out and more consistent heat. Doesn't solve the hot table sides though and if there is a breeze hitting it on one side, I found the opposite side gets much hotter, both griddle top and shelf. Would be nice if a shield could be put there to prevent the heat from radiating to the shelves. It is actually what I was looking for that led me to this video.
Nice add-on accessory William. Now you cookin
Having fun on this thing. Stay safe and healthy my friend.
Working on top your cooking surface? To each their own
Amen brother. Thanks for watching.
I noticed in your assembly video and now this one, there are holes on the side of the top leg cross-members as well as in the firebox itself that look to be additional mounting points between the legs and the firebox but you don't have any hardware in there. Curious if that was a choice you made or if there was no hardware. Thanks. I'm really appreciating your videos.
Will - I see the holes you’re talking about. I have no idea why they are there. Nothing mentioned in the assembly book.
@@SmokinwithKasket interesting. Thanks for taking a look. I'm saving my quarters to pick up one of those beautiful rigs. Watching a ton of videos like yours in the interim.
Well I now know what my next purchase will be.
David Trent - Love love the grill. The front tray is a must. I’ll come up with a simple mod very soon. Thanks for watching. Stay safe.
@@SmokinwithKasket yeah that could be a bummer. I have a few ideas in my head to fix the issue but until I actually have the shelf I'm not sure yet. Trying to decide between the SS or diamond cut. Any thoughts on your end?
SS all the way. Smooth finish looks of quality, restaurant quality appliance. I personally don’t like diamond cut. To me, in general, anything diamond cut looks cheaply made. There are high quality diamond cut products but for the most part, I just don’t prefer them.
Hey William, I am still trying to debate on getting this. With your oil/water stored in this, do you ever feel them getting too hot so close to the burners?
This is an awesome accessory. There is absolutely no heat or warmth in this area. Everything stays cool.
One thing I notice: you lost that shelf space underneath as it is now blocked by the shelf in the front.
Very true. Front top shelf that is. However, access is available on both sides and back. The top shelf is close to the heat and I’ve melted bottles on it. However, the bottle rack is far far more handy and holds a lot of seasonings and water/oil bottles, etc. The bottle rack is hundreds of times more important than the front shelf access. I would forfeit the entire top front shelf for the bottle rack!!!! Thanks for watching. Stay safe!!!
Like you said it got to much play in movement for me. 🤣🤣
Yes but it’s a very easy fix. Check out the solution video I have a mess. Thank you for watching.
Let us know how that works out, plastic bottles are still close the the front of the unit. How hot does that area get? Will it still melt your plastic? I jus ordered the camp chef 600 and am interested in your experience with the new addition to the grill. You basically lost the use of your top shelf.
The shelf is an EXCELLENT ACCESSORY!!! I couldn’t imagine not having it. Also, I use the front top shelf all the time! Access is available through sides and back. Not a big deal. As for heat- it’s cool. There is no heat with regards to the shelf. The front of the unit runs cold. Must have accessory. Enjoy and thank you for watching.
@@SmokinwithKasket thanks!!
A couple of screw in rubber grommets would work good
Excellent idea. Thanks.
Cool, but you might want to think about putting the mounting bolts with the nuts on the bottom.
Do you think that would work better?
No, not better, it’s just the way I was taught, incase they come loose you will only loose the nut, I know the grill won’t vibrate as much as a F-16 in flight, just a OCD thing, no worries, and thanks for the tips, my grill should be in any day now!
That’s sooo true!!! Love that idea. In fact I will turn my bolts around now that you pointed it out. I too suffer from OCD. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Appreciate you watching and commenting. Stay safe.
Nice product/idea but... I would DEFINITELY be one to complain about the 'flimsiness'. Thanks for pointing it out! ;-)
Yes. The moment I initially installed this thing I loved it but there was no way I could live with that flapping flimsy issue. Thanks for watching.
Great video, your link to the product is broken though
Oh no! Thank you for letting me know. Appreciate you watching.
Let me know when you might when you modify it want to see video
Here is the mod. video: ruclips.net/video/55KjH-aFCKI/видео.html

Any issues with a cover going on here with this addition?
None. The shelf isn't large enough to cause issues with the cover.
The only thing I have with mine is that the edges are sharp and it will take a little bite out of your fingers
Maybe they fixed that flaw because I didn’t notice any dangerous sharp edges on mine. Thank you for watching and commenting. Stay safe.
Does it get hot at all from the heat being so close?
No. Not at all. Works great!!!
Shelf needs to be wider ( full width) so it will be more stable
I agree. That would be the easiest correction for this flaw. Thank you for watching.
1/2 magnets behind the tray.
David Derr - Good idea except the tray swings between the legs so you’ll still need to install the wooden cross member. The magnets if installed on the wooden cross member would cause too big of a shim causing the tray to flex outward thus placing stress on the stainless tray near the bolt holes. The tray is too short really. It should extend over both legs. Thank you for watching. Stay safe.
you just lost front access to your front shelf.
Wow $90
Awesome accessory and great price!
It’s next to 🔥. Isn’t that common sense? 🤦🏼
Well of course it is. I didn’t design this thing and obviously they didn’t come up with a heat shield for the shelving. The purpose of this video is to review the bottle tray. You must have immediately thought I’m stupid. Sorry you weren’t able to grasp the direction of the video at the intro.
obviously you got the product for free... should of mentioned the stability issue first??
You’re totally wrong!!! I paid full price plus tax plus shipping and handling. The unboxing video was my first time to assemble it along with you all watching (later of course). Further, I sent the company an email and link to both my videos expressing the love for the product, the disappointing performance and the fix I came up with. They thanked me and said they will look into the design and a possible redesign in the future. That was it. I’m fine with it though. I wasn’t looking for a freebie or anything. Just know this was done strictly on my own dime and time which is consuming to shoot the video, edit and publish. All for my viewers and subscribers benefit. Which brings me to this: Thank you for watching and commenting. Please subscribe. Stay safe and healthy.
I watched this video in its entirety and I dont see anything that suggest he ' Obviously ' got this product for free. And how could he mention the stability issue untill he got it installed ?
Colin Butler - Thank you. Right on.
