- Non-Action Verbs/ State Verbs and Linking Verbs/ Difference Between State and Linking Verbs
Verbs are mainly of two types, Dynamic/Action Verbs, and Non-Action Verbs. In today's video, you'll learn about non-action verbs which are state verbs/stative verbs, and linking verbs. State verbs and linking verbs both are non-action verbs but their function is different.
State verbs are used to tell the emotional or mental state of a person as well as his possession. Whereas, linking verbs are used to link the subject of the sentence to its complement which should be a noun or noun phrase or adjective or adjective phrase.

Mam I learn a lot from your videos
Thought and remember are state verbs.
Thought and remember mental work comes under state of being.
Kudos to you!
Ma'am I wish I had been present ? Had v3 form is used but I got confused why present is not used as v3 how to identify? For v3 wee need add past participle in case v3 but present is not working here as v3
I didn't get your question. If you're talking about tenses (past perfect and present perfect), please watch the video below.

@@HomeschoolingwithHira I just wanted to know that present is what ? In this sentence if it's used as subject complement or noun ?
I feel your pain. If feel is linking verb then what is subject complement here. Same is the case with " I lost my keys'. Which is the subject complement here. Pl clarify
Subject complement refers to adjectives or nouns.
'...your pain and ...my keys' are complements of the subjects; that's why 'feel' is a linking verb here. (My and your are possessive adjectives indeed)
Verbs can be linking and state verbs; however, it depends on how they are in the sentence.
Hope this helps. For more clarification, please watch the video I sent you in your previous comment answer.
@@HomeschoolingwithHira But you are saying feel and lost are linking verbs in the video... arent you? at 6:00
@@hanananakim6844 thank you so much for mentioning this and please accept my apologies about the above message. I'm unsure in which state of mind I wrote that. My bad.
The thing that is explained in the video is correct.
Best Regards,
Hira
@@HomeschoolingwithHira But the real problem is feel and lose are not linking verbs.... if they were linking verbs it should have contained these sentiments, I = your pain(x), I = my keys(x). whch are totally impossible. I recommend you look it up again with the key word "linking verb". it will be easily found on any web site
Feel could be a linking verb but for that, it should be written in this way : I feel safe → I = safe, other than that it is considered as a linking verb
Good afternoon mam. There is no clarification between State verb and linking verb
Check out this one with an explanation of linking and state verbs:

Ma'am he knows his skills is it state verb?
Hi there,
The verb "knows" is a state verb because it doesn't show any physical action.
Hope this helps.
Thank you
Skills will be his object?
@@NikitaYadav-o4k Yes.
Skills is an abstract noun and is working as an object in this sentence.
@@HomeschoolingwithHira Thanks ma'am
Dose linking verb takes ing? For example :you are being so rude?
Yes, they may. It depends on the context.
