  • Seventh video in the series of tutorials where we will learn to use the most basic functionalities of Plant Simulation from scratch and with practical examples. In this chapter, we will give even more realism to our models incorporating operators, for which we will need to use the Worker, WorkerPool Broker, Footpath, Workplace and ShiftCalendar objects.

Hello, please I need your help. I need a worker to pick up product at Station1 and go to Station2 where he works on it and after he is finished goes back to Station1 for another product, but this time I need him to pick up a product and go to station 3 where he works on it and keep repeating this sequence. He needs to be switching between station 2 and 3 every time when he comes back to station 1.

Hello youtube.com/@patriknosreti3289 ! thank you for your comment. There is a similar case in the example models of Plant Simulation. Just open the software, and before opening any model go to "Example Models", in the "Getting Started" section. A dialog will pop up, select the last one ("Small Examples") and in the following dialog, select this:
      - Category: "Resources"
      - Topic: "Transport Importer"
      - Examples: "Carry Parts and Exit Behavior"
Then click on "Open Model" and close the dialog. If you run the model, you'll see that the worker takes three parts from the station and move them to the destination stations in the same trip. To make this example work as you need, you need to do as follows:
      - Change the capacity of the worker in the class library (.Models.TransportImporter.UserObjects.Worker) to one, by modifying the "Y-dimension" in the Attributes tab.
      - Right now, each part is moved to its destination depending on its name. To make it sequential, just go to the Exit tab of the station and change the strategy to "Cyclic".
Now it works as you mentioned. Take a look to the Importer tab of the station, "Transport" subtab, to see how it is configured.

Thanks for your tutorial videos. I watching some tutorial videos, but yours are the best.
I would like you to make more English videos about plant simulation, especial for SimTalk Programming.

Hi @johnsonandy8190 and thank you for you kind comment 😀I will continue to upload the rest of my videos dubbed in english in the comming months, and eventually will upload the simtalk videos too. However, I do this for free as a side project, and my other responsabilities don't leave much free time lately.
In the meantime, if you are interested in simtalk programming, try wathcing the spanish videos turning on the subtitles and activating the automatic translation to english, it works pretty well and I'm sure you'll be able to follow them.

I need to simulate how operators make changes in the production line with the aim of reducing changeover. The objective is not the simulation of production but the simulation of the change process

Hello youtube.com/@lissetteconcepcionmaure9966, thank you for your comment. I understand that you want to use workers only for the set-up process, but not for processing the parts. If that's the case, go to the "Importer" tab on the Station, select the "Set-up" subtab and deselect the "Common resources" checkbox. Once you've done this, the "Active" checkbox will be available, and from here the process is the same as defining workers for processing the parts, so you can just follow the steps on this video but using this "Set-up" subtab instead of the "Processing" one.
Of course, you will also need to define setup times for this to work. In this video I explain how to do it:
