One full reinstall of Windows 10 later and my computer is once again behaving! long may it last…. anywho, this part of the story is a bit odd, there are 2 books covering this period and the Dark Angels do some strange stuff that seems to go directly against their objective, and so i have taken some artistic liberties and i will go over and explain them at the end of next week's video!

Probably, though I think the Alpha Legion has a thing for posing as Ultramarines, at least I know of two times they did that and it might even work on most Imperials, who only know that these Loyalists have a blue color scheme, so repainting might not even be necessary.

The Imperium has a lot of worlds with a lot of people. If anything they are skimming the top (actually they pretty much are doing exactly that since the Imperial Guard (mostly) picks the best of the PDF for the IG).

Am I the only one who thinks even as a Space Marine, you can't really underestimate Guardsmen?
While the individual guardsman with his *cough* flaslight *cough* lasgun is not much of a threat, they still favor the Heavy Bolter as their HMG, and will have multiple, precise Lascannons scanning the no man's land, capable of killing even armored vehicles from great ranges. And if you overrun a guardsman position, it's very likely the guard will wipe it from existence through an insane amount of artillery capable of destroying armored vehicles and power armored infantry alike.
And then there's the fact any decently equipped regiment will likely have more tanks and airplanes than any chapter has battle brothers :o
You underestimate the power of space marine plot armor. :P
Yeah. You can take a x1 or even x5 against Imp Guard.
But the numbers per army of IG vs Space Marines show that the Space Plot Armour are a mobile especial forces not made to massive millions army battlefield
@@PodreyJenkin138 it would be a very annoying fight for both ends. the imperial guard probably couldnt effectively pin the space mariens and would constantly suffer deadly swift attacks to vital spots that seemingly vanish as soon as serious forces are mustered and move onto them they would struggle to get the space marines to stay still long enough to get their HMG or artillery effectively on them. meanwhile the space marines for all their mobility and ability to strike quickly,precisely and very deadly the monolithic size of the imperial guard would prevent them from doing real damage to it. they also cant seriously garrison planets due to not having enough men to protect everywhere valuable with the sheer size of the imperium. it would be a very very long guerilla warfare style conflict.
Who possesses the advantage in a marine vs guardsmen war is entirely dependent on how long the war has been going on. If the guardsmen successfully stop the decapitating strike and can keep the marines mostly at an arms length then the guard has more than a fighting chance. Simply because the guard can loose far more blood than marines can and they do posses tools capable of bleeding marines.
Granted it’s unlikely that the guard could actually do those things, but it’s certainly possible and it’s not unprecedented for marines to fall to arrogance.
For lightning strikes the space marines will have the advantage but if it's attrition warfare then the guard will win in general
Alpha Legion? Traitors? No. The Cardinal received loyalist Astartes reinforcements. The Alpha Legion are the most loyal legion to the Emperor, they serve him the way they know best to this very day. Infiltrate the enemy and ensure that whatever the cost the Emperor's will is done, no matter the underhanded methods required. If the Emperor desires the destruction of the Ruinous Powers of Chaos then his most loyal of legions shall see it done, by first infiltrating Chaos, becoming champions of Chaos to infiltrate even deeper, and manipulating everything they can until they can destroy Chaos from within.
For the Emperor!
Now those Dark Angles on the other hand... They are not quite as loyal... Too many secrets for a chapter who doesn't specialize in covert operations if you ask me, they have no excuses. They are clearly heretics and servants of the Ruinous Powers.

@@8vantor8 Depends on the specific group of Alpha Legionnaires. It's been confirmed that the Legion split and some groups fell fully to Chaos and some stayed loyal and are working to bring Chaos down from the inside.
Omegon and his warband are in the latter category, with at least three other major AL warbands working with them and countless hidden cells.

Overonator - Deacon Mamon, an advisor of the cardinal, was the one who spread the worship of chaos. I assume the cardinal took the chaos star as a symbol sometime after and the common soldiers then painted it everywhere to show their allegiance.
The Alpha Legion claimed to be loyal Astartes helping the death corps and then pretty much simply walked across no man land to join the traitors.
I'm amazed that the Inquisition let that Commander Julker be incompetent for the third time in a row without doing some "inquiries". Especialy when the entire Wrack situation was an Inquisition clusterfuck in the forst place, giving them an incentive to get involved a bit more in the process.

There should be a mini TTS series where the Lord Militant goes around asking for Astartes help and getting rejected. Like getting laughed at by the Marine Malevolent or the Lamenters just weeping at not being able to help due to their low numbers.
Would be hilarious, however so far only ultramarine, salamanders, dank angels, cypher, bluud rehvens, grey knights have been shown in tts.

You know, I just realized that the Alpha Legion symbole is a THREE headed serpent, when we have only knowledge of TWO primarchs. Knowing the Alpha Legion liking of mind game, it wouldn't surprise me if a third Primarch revealed himself at one point in the future

That would be a funny twist, but I don't think GW will ever reveal the lost Primarchs.

That would be a twist and a half, but the Emperor seemed sure that the twins were the Primarch, so unless they pulled a fast one on Big E himself, I don't see that happening.

Sadly I think the traitor forces are far more competent than the French ever were. Imperial high command is more akin to the French than the Cardinal.
So effectively a large scale reinforcement of space marines to a “minor" conflict is the 40K equivalent of the EOD (bomb squad) tech sprinting past as fast as his feet can carry him in the Michelin Man outfit.
Nah, if the EOD is in his full bomb outfit, that means whatever he is disarming is small enough that the suit has a chance in hell of meaning he survives. If the EOD tech is in his Hawaiian shirt and flip-flops, THAT is when you start sweating and praying to whatever deity might be listening, because it means he's decided, "If I go out, I'm at least going out while comfy."

I'm confused: why where the loyal alpha legion helping out the traitors? And why didn't the Death Korps panic when the traitorous Dark Angels decended on on their rear? Please help me make sense of this.

Codizes dont give that much lore overall, its mostly written in the books. And there are close to 500 currently, so yeah.

The exact name of the series you're looking for is Imperial Armour.
Imperial Armour Volumes 5, 6 and 7. Basically a series of books to tell the lore of Vraks, give lots of technical details about the Guard, give you scenarios for battles, and sell DKoK models.
I love these videos arch, not only the broader story line videos but the individual ones as well. you are by far the best Warhammer 40k Lore channel, or 40k in general, channel I've come across. I only got into 40k at the being of 2018 yet thanks to your channel I feel like I've been into 40k since the begging, almost. Any commander worth a damn knows that there is nothing to be gained by forcing a task back on schedule. If you are behind schedule, then you need to adjust the schedule. Who made this guy a general? The consequences of that incompetence should fall wide and heavy.
You mention “luck”...funny, that. I would attribute the success of the attack on fort A-453 to the Death Korps having expended all ready-use stockpiles of their standard-issue shit luck, rather than the presence of any form of *good* luck. The subsequent reversal at the hands of the Vraksians was just down to Krieg’s quartermasters resupplying the Death Korps with their *standard* form of luck.
Will Rogers the Head C.E.O of Fate Inc. sends his most gracious congratulations to the Krieg high command for taking that stock of luck at discount price.

I've watched this series at least 5 times, & I still want to know how an entire Alpha Legion War Band, of at least a 100+ Brothers infiltrated past an Imperil Blockade without detection, or warning. Keeping in mind that this is before the Imperial Navy started loosening their Grip on Vraks, & that the 88th had already encircled the Cardinal's Forces. Like I know they got connections, but come on, I want tactics & logistics on how they snuck past, not their temporary plot armor. Love u Arch, keep up the good work.

Had this been an RTS story mode, then this is the part where Act 1 ends and you encountered the twist level. Also encountering endgame enemies as boss enemies or they just shred your fancy army in the cutscene.

I was just wondering if you intended to do a video/videos covering the Iron Cage at any point in the future. Its 1 of my favorite pieces of Imperial Fists history, & I would very much love to hear it described in all its glory by the best 40k Lore RUclipsr, with all his usual embellishments. Secondly let me just say thank for taking your time to makes this particular series of videos with regards to this specific event in 40K, since I never really got "definitive answer" as to the whole "shindig" if you will.
