Your videos are cool and well explained but you may be the only one musical producer on RUclips that teaches using free plugins. I can't thank you enough for that. 👍👍
I also highly recommend SQ8L which, like Dexed, is a freeware, complete reverse-engineered synth with a beautiful 80s sound. In SQ8L's case it is the Ensoniq SQ80. It is a wavetable synth, quite tricky learn though :) (but not as difficult as Dexed or FM synthesis in general)

The knowledge you impart in your videos is excellent for all us home studio musicians wanting to create music with a DAW and virtual instruments. Thank you so much for all the work you put into your videos !
amazing, just discovered your channel half an hour ago, love how in depth everything here is, i've always wanted tutorials like this. i've used VSTs like Dexed and OBx-d for years, but never really felt satifisfied with anything i'd made with them. never knew the fundamentals of compression/EQ on sounds like the e.piano etc. great channel, will definitely recommend this to some pals
This is a great channel ! makes me understand 80's music so much more do you consider ever doing guitar oriented 80's tutorials ? thanks and great work !
Great video! I would also add, most VST synths have a lot of DX7 piano presets, so people may already have these they can fool around with. Also, for a slightly bigger sound that is 80's-inspired, you can layer DX7 pianos with pads or similar sounds to make it extra dreamy.
Just subscribed a few days ago, this is another helpful video. Do you have a tutorial on how to create that lead sound that’s on this beat? Or which vst it’s from? Thank you.
So cool sounds! Love 80's Disco, and Nu-Disco, Deep Nu-Disco, which I believe the new albums that are reminiscent of 70's-80's? I like to listen on Digitally Imported radio, time to time...
I like the way you explain things, in much better detail especially in the smaller points. Also quick question : I often have trouble with volume not matching on finished tracks , do you have any advice on quick and dirty ways of mastering your own stuff ? Would love to see how you think about things like that . Keep up the good work
I feel like these tips would also work well for any lead synth sound, especially a supersaw. Let me add that Dexed is not just free but also open-source!
Very cool video! For me, one of the best free chorus plugins is Blue Cat Audio's plugin suite. It's cmopletely free, and I use the chorus from that suite on almos everything I need chorus.
If you have the money to spend, the Arturia DX7 soft synth is very very good and quite easy to maneuver around. I would recommend buying the V collection when its on a big discount as opposed to buying the DX7 soft synth from them with no sales ongoing, though.
I have the Arturia suite and had used the DX7 for some time, and only recently did I realise that you can load the .SYX patches I had previously downloaded for Dexed.
@@ElianaDAngelo yeah, I understand. I only recommend it because its very good and if you can get the V collection on sale you can get a ton of old synths for like 200 dollars and I think its one of the better deals out there when its on sale, many of which are also great for old 80s music (Prophet 5 and Juno 6 are perfect for 80s music). Just something to keep in mind for the future! Thanks for the video!
Dexxed has been around a while and does a good job of emulating the DX sound. If you actually have some DX7 or other DX synth patches I beleive you can import those as well I did it at some point a few times. Yes there are some sites to download the factory patches I am sure These days I just fart around with Vital and in my humble opinion betters the DX sound As an old dude I liked the 4 operator FM synths the TX81 module was cool
I just use my mk1 dx7, chose the chorus-reverb preset on my Boss se 50 rack multi FX, ( Boss is known for they're good choruses ) turn down the whet/dry mix on my mixer a bit, dial in the highs on my mixer a little, and hey presto!, ( use a real dx7 preferably a mk1, they sound best, far better than dexed, I use both)
Your videos are cool and well explained but you may be the only one musical producer on RUclips that teaches using free plugins. I can't thank you enough for that. 👍👍
I normally use slate but also want to show that free stuff is still great and that I use it too.

As a kid from the 80s I love the way how you explain all the Prozess of producing that 80s style. Please don’t stop❤

I'm now in love
This channel is a fucking gem.

It's because of you my 80's style production really went to the next level. Thank you so much for in depth video's like this one.

Gotta appreciate the effort in providing resources with the information to utilize them, genuinely helpful stuff
Best on RUclips. Chill and easy going .
been using dexed a year... really good sound
I am enjoying and getting so much out of these 80s early 90s videos you are making. Keep up the good work sister!
I've appreciated several of your videos. I'm not creating music specifically in those styles but still find them fun and educational.
Damn, that studio looks so neat.
Eliana, admit it: You mixed all the Debarge songs and you own a time machine! Great video.
You got me, I did.
You are my favorite on RUclips right now for many reasons
Great video Eliana. Some top advice and directions. Thank you.

Lush piano indeed. I like that you give concrete examples on actual values to use as plug-in params.
This was a great, easy to follow video. I'd love to see something similar on how to create those 80s lead sounds

your channel is very inspiring, specially now that I decided to go back to composing. Nice t shirt btw!
Could you do a tutorial on getting that funky lead in the track you played at the beginning? I love it.
Soon.
Thank you for the vídeo.
The demo song, wow.
Great sounds. All of them...
I just found this Chanel and it’s awesome. I love these new videos explaining these sounds in depth. Keep them coming please
Love your 80s videos 👌👌👌
Dude, you’re a godsend. I’ve been listening to so much YMO and I’ve been itching to emulate them. Thank you!!

So glad to see your videos popping up again 💕
Fantastic work again. Thank you for VST link!
Great video! easily explained and fun to watch. One of my favorite production channels in the moment.
Amazing video as always, thank you for sharing your knowledge 💜
Absolute lush analog DW8000 style flavor

That should be a future video
I been looking for that SOUND!~!!!!!!
That website is a good recommendation, thanks.
loved the video. Also that is one sick Thundercat shirt right there.
I enjoyed the video. The notes on the chorus type and all others chain settings are priceless!
That lovely sound makes me _tingle_ ----- I'm talkin' about your _voice_ dear ;)
I'm snagging a reface dx because i like limitations plus im broke. your videos have really helped with production and composition so thaaaanks :)
that was interesting! well done 🎹
One of the best channels that I've subscribed....keep posting more
Loving your sound sister
These vids are befok! Keep on going misses
Please continue this cool vibe you got going.. Also, I dunno what you mean by higher quality videos..hmm.. It looks good as it is. Peace- Sam

Another great video from Eliana-sensei 🥳
I like Your voice. Great content. 👍
Incroyableee
Thanks! Your music is super funky btw. 😎😎😎
Love all your videos!
Excellent video! ✌️😁 Absolutely love the sounds of a DX7
These sound design vids are great!
Genia! Hi from Argentina! I can't seem to understand how the release works on Dexed as there are no ADSR knobs...could you help me please? Thanks!
Nice tips and I shared you around.
Do you have the all version of the intro amazing!!
I love your videos. Going to give dexed a try.
thank you this is great.
I am definitely working, “Meet my demands” into regular conversation.
Totally love it
Have you the finished track in the video, sounds brilliant. Too good not to be a full track.
Enjoying the videos and very inspirational.
Great video.
Are you adding that noise to your mic?
I could do without it.
Interferience that I am having trouble finding. The rode wireless mics seem quite succeptible to it
Another great tutorial 🔥🔥 Thank you ❤❤
really good!

I had the DX7 for 12 years and Dexed is the only one that sounds 90% close to a DX7 mkI. The others are modern recreations
@@CR-sj7xd As far as I know Dexed is a complete reverse engineered DX7 algorithm. Even DX7s original presets are compatible.
Beautiful sounds!
Cool nickname. Got me curious to check out your channel.
@@persona83 please do! I do what it says! And sometimes, I sell them as well. ruclips.net/video/VF2_uSlvapw/видео.html
Personally I would place delay before reverb, but of course it can work after too :)
All a matter of choice. Before makes delay more prominent. After more smootb
u da best
Awesome. Thanks!!

Love this series! What is the mixing desk you have recording in the back there? (ps I have that Thundercat shirt too)
Its a Tascam model 12. But dont get it as an audio device for PC. Sucks ass worst drivers ever. Works great on mpc tho.
@@ElianaDAngelo Oh serious? I'd been eyeing off one of those bad boys for a while.. thx for the tip
I love your videos 💯
Love u and this
W channel

Where can I find the song from the intro??
Can we have the link to the exact sound you're using? I'm struggling to understand where to download the actual preset from
Best regards,
The Pad / String Sound in your composition: is that DX7 too?
A lot of people who've never used a dx7 don't know how dry it was. Most of those dx7 classic sounds have a lot more going on.
Dexed is great but I want to give a shout out to Plogue OPS7. For chorus Oblivion Sound Lab is my choice, and then of course Valhalla VintageVerb.
I just use my mk1 dx7, chose the chorus-reverb preset on my Boss se 50 rack multi FX, ( Boss is known for they're good choruses ) turn down the whet/dry mix on my mixer a bit, dial in the highs on my mixer a little, and hey presto!, ( use a real dx7 preferably a mk1, they sound best, far better than dexed, I use both)
How did you add diva vibrato lfo into your Control piano roll tab?
Very cool! :)
hell yea lady
