Terrific comparison review! I really enjoyed this a lot! I admit I am a massive fan of Lagavulin 16! It's a huge sentimental favourite. I enjoy all of these single malts a lot but wow do I love the Lag 16! I get such a beautiful maritime sea influence with the Lagavulin and I really like it. I do really appreciate the ABV with the Ardbeg 10! That extra hit is lovely! At this point distilleries should not be adding colour or chill filtering and I wish Lag and Laphroaig would stop this in all their expressions. Thanks so much! Cheers! 🙂
Totally agree Lag 16 is hard to beat. THough I have now fallen in love with the Offerman Guiness cask edition and the Distillers editions. Really Lagavulin is good all the way around. But Ardbeg An Oa is my new go to.

Probably not but was the best I could do at the time as far as age statements go. I do have a Lagavulin 11 but it is finished and an 8 but not sure in Islay climate and how slow things age there that 8 is fair either. Haven't been willing to cough up the $130 for the 12 yet, but when I do I may have to revisit the comparison.
@@lifeandwhiskey2155 In your defense, these are sort of the quintessential versions of each of these whiskies. Each brand is known for these particular whiskies.
I have over 150 single malts, and I rank Laphroaig 10 (regular) above both Lagavulin 16 and Ardbeg 10, but if I allow Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength into the mix, it is light years ahead of the other two. My 2nd favorite is Caol Ila 12.
I have to say i do very much enjoy the laphroiag cask strength and the sherry cask for that matter and the coal ila 12. In truth i really have not found an Islay I dislike.
It is about what you would expect. definitely young in profile. has all the same notes just not as robust and rounded. I like it a lot, but it is not the 16, and really not even the offerman 11s. I have never had the 12 to date because it is always $120+ when i see it and think why pay more if I can get 16 for less. Though I will say the 2 distiller's editions I have take the cake for the line for me.
@@lifeandwhiskey2155 I ask because I really like the Lagavulin 8, never had the 16 and find that I prefer the Laphroaig 10 over the 18 and Glenfiddich 15 over the 18 & 21!

Also have had many problems with uplaods to youtube. where my videos are fine on my computer but despite multiple attempts to upload, still crappy on the youtube side. but thanks for the comment and quality is getting better. @@revolvermaster4939 I am fan esp of the lore. Still trying to get my hands on a triple wood.or a cairdeas triple wood. Never have seen one but really want to try one. I do have to say the lagavulin is my go to esp some of the distillers editions and the offerman releases. But 16 is just nice. I suppose the luxury of options. Any day, any of these pours are on my list the 16 or laphroiag 10 or ardbeg. Won't lie, all will end the day with enjoyment.

Is it fair to compare 10 with 16 ?

I’d put Laphroaig 10 up against anything! IMO after 15 years whiskey starts losing character.

8 days later: OK I was wrong. BUT, Laphroaig is still my first love.
I believe all are great and I have not found offerings from any of these distilleries I would not enjoy.
