Still remember Ryan pushing his bike uphill, trying to cross the finish line. No quit in this guy.

Great point Ryno! ANY past Champion should never have to buy a ticket to get into the races. I remember bumping into the Dogger in 07 at Budds Creek MXDN. As a fan, it's awesome seeing our heroes at the races.

Just like old WWII heros, just fade away. I just stay at home/work watch the races on TV and have a private moto track.
The only travels I want to do now is just travel to mountains to ski. The main thing in life is to have a hobby that keeps you somewhat in shape.

I did not realize this. I am from the Nascar and Indy car world (who also like motocross) where former drivers get free all access and a hotel if the desire to come to a race.

Would be nice if this sport could appreciate the past Champions and treat them with respect for what they have done to take it to the next level. But it’s not how it works, MX is lucky 🍀 to have riders who love the sport so much, they can easily take advantage of them 😮 always been this way 😢

Most dangerous career professional sport on earth, hands down. Can't believe the riders don't have Union, terrible organization well none really until some professionals that are over the hill but still have clout do something about it. Blows my mind how dangerous this sport is with its tiny fan base. Honestly tho k it's too much for most people can't take watching MX...it's too much for average person...

They are not true professionals.. supercross and outdoor Nationals is like motley Crue having to pay to play a concert... The riders are the product.... Field, AMA and MX Sports know the rider will pay to be employed.
Super Moto $$$ is the biggest payday to riders will ever receive until the end of time

The riders need to “Unionize” their sport, or way better yet is to somehow go the way the Professional Bull Riders did and create their own brand.
The Riders do not NEED the FIM, MX Sports or Feld to make them Legit! Take the existing Rules and have them get Outside Sponsorship just like every Privateer currently does and have the Racers own the series.
What do you think Monster is paying Davey Coombs for the rights to be the title sponsor? It’s going to be way more than Davey is paying out in the purse!!!

@straighttimestirrups these are for most kids out there racing. I'm quiet sure the status quo reigns supreme in MX land. From dealers to the venues it's old boy network. Personally people like Pastrana/Deegan/RC/RV,etc should all get together pool their money start their own MX sport. Free Riders got the idea they make $$ but are somewhat free...unionized self owned is way MX should move into future. But who's gonna start it ?

@@evopwrmods In my opinion, all of the past pros that finished in the Top 10 should have a shot at being in on the floor as a minority shareholder. The major shareholder(s) can work that into the business model. No one needs the AMA/Feld/MX Sports or the FIM to pull it off. This isn’t the NFL vs USFL all of these riders have short term contracts with no one protecting their interests.
Not one of the Privateers has a long term contract, I’d rather see my money go to them anyway!

I get what people are saying that it may be looked at as entitlement. Think for a second, it really doesn’t cost the race organizations anything to let these former top pro’s into events. I’m saying like past champions or even 10 ten finishers in a season. The rider could pay for the credential fee for the processing and Id badge for each season. Yeah they are losing out on ticket fees and stuff but it’s not like these ex pros are demanding first class accommodations and the organizations are paying for that. I’ve been following this sport for over 45 years and still ride. How cool would it be to run into all the past riders while attending these events?

Riders are the product that FELD, AMA and MX Sports exploits for a profit.
It's sort of like Metallica having to pay to play their own concerts.
Sort of like this concept; privateers have a job racing supercross or outdoor Nationals, in order to attend work they need to pay hundreds of dollars.. if they get lucky and have a good day at work they might make part of their expenses back. Not to mention risking life and limb.

So he thinks he should be getting free VIP passes because he used to race and he used to be gooder? Errrrrr entitlement! I am not saying he was not a great, I am saying why should he just expect free VIP tickets to every race? Seems like I am hearing entitlement. I suspects all the money earned from race wins, sponsor deals, and all the other stuff they earn money from just isn't enough dang it. THEY NEED FREE VIP TICKETS. Sounds to me like someone is a little jelly of their years gone by and like a pop singer when they fall from relevance, still think they should be getting the same treatment as before (DON'T YOU KNOW WHO I AM !!!!!?) Buddy just sounds entitled to me. Buy your tickets like everyone else and get over yourself, I am sure if you were a great guy that stayed relevant to the sport in some way like helping younger generations and such someone would have free VIP tickets for you. Just saying well F, don't you know who I am and expecting free VIP passes is just entitled BS. Grow the F up. I am sure Joe ByDone will do his goodest for you till you get your free VIP passes, he likes to help the entitled.

Ryno is usually cool, but he’s an entitled baby here. Why should a retired racer get free tickets for life?? A hotline?? How about a purple heart medal? What, do retired riders suffer from PTSD after a career of seeing/hearing/smelling faces of death like the military, police, fire, EMS? A 30 year old retired racer can go get a big boy job and buy a ticket.
