Honestly took me so long to be comfortable admitting I preferred romance books or at the very least any genre book with romance in it. Tried forcing myself to only like fantasy and thrillers because no one else I knew liked romance and I thought it was embarrassing… Booktok really showed me the light 😍 Definitely agree to find genres that you really enjoy and not books you feel pressured to like. I literally went through a 4 month reading slump trying to force myself to read things I didn’t enjoy. And yes - don’t be afraid to DNF! 😊
i’m so happy that so many others are reading now and posting stuff about it because I use to like reading but everything I would read in front of people I would get made fun of so I stopped for years , but now i’m 14 and reading is my only hoppy other than music and writing it brings me so much comfort, calmness, escape, and more while reading.
I never annotate my books because I want to keep them "like new" and I don't want to interrupt my reading, but I really like the idea of using color coded post-its, I might just use that! Love your energy btw :)
As a person who often borrows books from a library (doesn’t know what to say)…I can’t annotate it even if I did own it, I’d put colored sticky-notes instead
Sometimes I read the same book multiple ways/devices. For instance if I’m reading a physical book and I am getting ready to go to sleep I’ll switch to the Kindle app on my phone or audiobook. I found that can help me finish a book faster than normal
The quality of the literature is a factor in how books are consumed. Some books are like fine dining, or a five course meal, and some books it's like eating McD's lmao
Its so hard to not compete with others, but everyone is in different life situations. We should be proud of ourselves for even reading something. Some people could never. I would love to see your anotations. ❤
having a library card and using the app your library uses (mine uses libby) on your phone is super convenient and nice. i love having it in the winter so while my car warms up and the windshield defrosts i get like 10-15 minutes of uninterrupted reading time. i would have a physical book but i get off work late at night and can't read the physical books in the dim lighting of the parking lot and i don't want to have my inner car lights on XD
I got into reading this year and even more so the last two months. I have been watching book-tube to gain inspiration and book recommendations and I absolutely love your channel!!! I have ran out of content already... You need to upload more sis!
Yes please do a video on annotating i feel like school trained me to annoyed but not for fun. Also, how do you keep track of the books you read? A book journal or anything?
Larrisa I love that you are so passionate about so many things, one day I'd love to see Lauren show us what she's passionate about just because you are always showing her much loved mainstream media and she's always oblivious to them.
i’m also someone who HATES do not finish a book. but i realised that just because i don’t finish it, that doesn’t mean that was a one in a lifetime chance. i can always pick it up again if i want to and give it a new chance. for example, “the red queen”. i started it in 2020 and i thought it was soooo boring. a year later i picked it up again because my sister encouraged me to do so. and i loved it so much!
right on time!! i really needed this video and here’s my favorite reader posting it 💗💗 i freshly started reading after stoping for years and i’m over the moon coping with it again making myself new habits and reading new books~ for every beginner out there! GOOD LUCK 💗💗
I dont know if this is a dumb question but For kindle unlimited do you still have to pay for the books you want to read or can you read any book on the kindle.
@@serenaaav it’s just like Netflix, there’s not every movie or that show on their but there’s a curated collection, same on kindle unlimited, it’s not every book but there’s still a lot of good ones on there
@@AdventuresInMyaLand thanks you so much. I started off on Wattpad and then started reading paperbacks but I wanted to know if it is cheaper to just Kindle unlimited. So thank you. 😊
@@serenaaav if you subscribe u can have 20 KU books in ur library and just swipe between the one u finished and pick a new one but the limit is to have 20 in your library also even when u swipe an old book with a new u still have your highlights saved and also linked to your Goodreads account and if u like a book a lot and it’s KU and u don’t want to return it to read a new KU new book u can just buy it it’s still cheaper than physical books usually books in kindle are ranging between 0.99-4.99 dollars
Hi Larissa! I just had to say that I legit love your energy like whenever I watch your tiktoks my mood instantly gets better and I feel like we r bffs haha. Thank you for being such a positive light (:
I need this bc I started reading in august and I feel like I read maybe 45-50 pages an hour but I get distracted so easily lol. And other people can read like a 400 page book in 2 hours 💀💀
I am not a beginner, I've read alot of teenage and YA books, but these tips have helped me transition to the more adult books. I've recently found your channel and I look forward to your videos all the time now. So, thankyou xxx
I think another tip would be to not focus on popular books. It's related to not feeling pressured to compete with other readers. I had a hard time getting out of the habit of only reading what other people say is good when I started reading. So, it took me some time to find the genre I really enjoy, which is romance! And, like you, I do love a good thriller mystery and fantasy but it usually involves some kind romance.
Hi Bestie! I am so glad I found your channel. I personally would love a video on annotation, I've just recently gotten into it! Have an awesome rest of the week!
Sissy, you are the best 🥺 I always wish if I had a elder sister like you 😭😭😭, I do consider you as my own 🥰 You always have a little brother here...Love you so much 💕Stay healthy 💖 Take care 🥰
ANOTHER TIP!! Put the kindle app on your phone! You usually have your phone with you, so if you ever have to wait for like 5 minutes you can easily take it out of your pocket and read
Bestie where you been all my life?! Your energy is everything 🔥 You're my spirit animal. So happy I found your videos. They really lift my mood. Thank you 💛✨
Yes Bestie! I love all these tips!! The thing I need are books but all these did help so much! The not comparing yourself to anyone, I loved it! Thanks for the tips!! Love you!!💖💖
I went to finland recently ( went twice in a month lol) I dont drink and everytime we went to the pub i bought my kindle and sat in the pub in finland drinking tea and reading lol
I love your videos!!!!! They literally light up my day!!! I would love a video on annotating. I’ve always seen people on booktok do it and would love to annotate too!! 😍😍
I'm a slow reader and English is not my first language, so I'm gonna say, I started reading a book in English and alone I was loosing interest cause I couldn't understand words and stuff but when I started reading and listening at the audiobook at the same time it helped me read faster and understanding much better the book
The reading slump is sooo true I finished verity at 2pm and had to drive 3 hours home and had WAYYY too much time to think about it and now I’m struggling to read a new book

@@joelis.nicolee did not finish. so basically you didn’t finish the book.
i'm never interested with a book without romance or a 'spark' of romance in it lol

yes same! btw its hobby :)
I never annotate my books because I want to keep them "like new" and I don't want to interrupt my reading, but I really like the idea of using color coded post-its, I might just use that! Love your energy btw :)
Same. It’s just I can’t bring myself to write on a book but I put coloured tabs in there because I want to convey how I feel about a scene or moment.
As a person who often borrows books from a library (doesn’t know what to say)…I can’t annotate it even if I did own it, I’d put colored sticky-notes instead
Writing, dog-earring pages, basically messing up books in anyway hurts my soul

Yessss, do a video on annotating 😍 I’ve recently gotten into it outside of just highlighting things and I love to see how everyone does it!
omg the advice to avoid reading slumps makes SO MUCH SENSE!! i’ve never heard anyone say that but it’s real, i’m gonna follow it
I love the rain but for some reason I never thought to play rain sounds while I read. That is such a good idea and I need to use it asap!!

Yes please!!!! Want to know as well
I started a book journal and it’s a fun way to keep track of the books I’ve read and write down how I felt about them.
Goodreads is a good way to keep track also to update when you’re reading a book
