Great sound on that one. A very long time ago ( 1980 +/- ) I was at a “Trans Am” race, at Portland International Raceway (Oregon ). I between races, the announcer told us all to listen closely. Screaming along the backstretch ( which we couldn’t see, was an amazing, ferocious sound. We all expected some exotic foreign car. But around turn #9, here comes a Honda CBX with a 6 into 6 exhaust! The guy opened it up along the front dragway, and treated us to some amazing motor-music! 40+ years later, I can still see it, and almost hear it! Thanks for this great reminder!

We had them back in the 70s and brother they were made to last . Honda was the best for me. 750 cc. I ran against the Dodge roadrunners,the modified camaroes ,all in good fun while hanging out with the town friends. ❤

Wow ! What a beautiful vintage machine . My uncle had one as well I think in 1981 or 1982, but his friend was in a accident with the bike and passed away . Still got a photo somewhere when I was sitting on it as very young boy.

The CBX was never capable of doing 170 mph. I had one brand new in 1980. It was reckoned to do 140 (if you felt suicidal)but it used to wallow and tie itself in knots at 130. Still a very handsome bike and would make others green with envy in the day and what a wonderful piece of engineering.

My dad had an ‘85 Suzuki gs1150 (which was a very popular base engine for drag bikes) and I remember trying to see how fast that thing would go and somewhere around 130 that thing would start trying to slap itself in the tank with the handlebars and I found out how tight a certain part of my body could pucker. I was 16 then and had an ‘81 Seca 550! which of course wasn’t as fast but handled so much better. Forward to today, I still have my ‘07 FZ1 which I’ve had to 160 and that sucker is solid. But none of ‘em sounded like that straight 6 formula car-like cbx. Although my ‘99 Buell M2 Cyclone with after market intake and exhaust turned some heads with a muscle car-like sound from its 1203cc pushrod V-twin.

Blue pipes are caused by high temp from a lean fuel mixture. My 1975 Honda CB 750 with Jardine 4 into one header stayed bright chrome for 27 years. Original owner.
The classic Honda CBX1000/CBX1100 was a DOHC inline six that made a sound like no other bike ever mass produced. I'm sorry that I have never owned one. Looks like this one had an aftermarket exhaust header, which I would also prefer over the factory exhaust.
That 750 four I love! My best friends dad had more than one and they sound awesome! His old ass would ride the hell out of that bike.. a place in my heart those bikes are!👍👍💯

My brother had one and I took it for a ride and when I got home, my hair was blown back and he asked if l rode his bike. There was dry tears on my face and his bike was pinging, snap crackelin still, cooling off. I said no! He laughed!! I was busted & he laughed! Funnest bike ever!❤

Kinda false. Originally these came with the 3 to 1 exhaust on both sides. This one is a 6 to 1.
Not with the standard pipes . Had 2 3 into 1s and sounded quiet normal and just like Z1300 . Some people just have to make a story up

That engine sounds crisp too especially with it being an older design!! Honda was always excellent at building/creating the best inline engines imo.

The First One comes out about in 1974/5 . A friend of mine had the First "Kawa 900 Z1", It waz on 73' and j waz 13 yrs old 😍
It was designed to sound like an f1 car lot of effort went into the exhaust ports etc. F1 cars sounded like this way before this bike
