    Thank you so much for this! I took a 10 year break from flight sim, and just started to get back into it last week and decided to adopt the A32NX for my longer flights (C172 and CJ4 for shorter routes.) You made it quite easy to do!

    Thank you very much 320 Sim Pilot and all you guys at Fly by Wire. An experimental version of A32NX VNAV works pretty nice (May 2022).
    When I come close to TOD I use a trick I learned on A320/A319 on X-plane. I just start descent 25nm before TOD. This plane will descend nicely and smoothly respecting all restrictions and come to your final approach altitude right on spot. Bravo guys and Thank You

    Excellent explanation for office chair pilots. Detailed is what we all need. This Simulator is trying to simulate real world flying experiences, ( to a certain extent obviously. Real world flying is very different, I’m sure ), however with the work that Asobo and developers such as FlyByWire have done by careful coding and software, we can indeed simulate real world flying conditions. All of this detail creates a truly immersive experience, to stimulate the mind and excite the imagination. Your input on this channel is invaluable and appreciated by your concise explanations giving us all an understanding of flying the A320. Thank you.

    This is an excellent development and thanks for (another) great video. Earlier today I did a Faro - Lisbon flight and found the decent profile didn't get me down to the ILS platform altitude in time, so now I need to work out whether it's my incorrect handling of the aircraft or a bug in the VNAV implementation!
    10 out of 10 to FBW though, the complexities in all of this are amazing, so to get it working the way they have is a real triumph of coding.

    Great overview and no need to apologise for the level of detail or deviations - what your videos bring (for me at least) is the real world context and most of all - the "why". Your experience here matches mine so far - the climb has actually been reliable for a while and the descent gives a start point but is not yet to be relied on - as you say they are doing a brilliant job.
    One quick Q. - is the coded decel point for auto appr mode at the distance you'd expect? I often find that if I leave it to engage, it's almost impossible to slow down in time and get properly configured. Seems to me like it tries to come steaming in at 250 and then I end up with full airbrakes and drop the gear early which I can't believe is correct...

    • @320SimPilot
      @320SimPilot  2 года назад +6

      Thanks Mike, appreciate it! The coded decel point in the real aircraft can be a bit sporty too so this wouldn't be too unrealistic, especially in tailwind/hot/high conditions. However in perfect conditions it should be manageable, I will experiment with it some more and see if it is close to the real thing.

  • @PluckyUnderdog

    The thing about the Airbus, as opposed to Boeing avionics (to my admittedly untrained eye) is they are incredibly user friendly, once the nuance of each mode is understood. I would imagine (as a pilot yourself) that this is part of the appeal of flying them.
    Very nice video. You have a good way of explaining things so that they are very easily grasped. I'm not a novice by any means, but I think some people who are fully conversant with these things can lack the ability to relay their intricacies to others. You have that skill, sir.
    Keep up the good work, looking forward to your next stream (I usually tune in haha).

  • @mercurybullet6043

    Interesting about the speed limit being hard coded. Australian ATC routinely waives speed restrictions. You haven't lived until you've screamed down to 3000ft at 320kts. I remember Juan Brown had his eyes popping out one day when he said they were cleared to do it in a 777 heading into Sydney. I wonder if the MCP would ignore it? The waivers came about because every 747 (now A380) leaving our shores is loaded to the gills and 250kts was too slow. Then ATC decided they liked it as it gave them more room to separate traffic. So it stuck.
